They can hear how the enemies items and you can craft the items and shops buy the items and quickly figure out how to get the most money fastest. Other media flat out does not teach this, and it is very important to understanding the world. Unfortunately, censorship has kept videogames extremely immature as an art form and that doesn't seem to be changing.

This isn't the only way scientists are crowdsourcing. Zooniverse has programs where people can help scientists identify dips in light from stars, which could indicate orbiting planets, or identify solar storms in images from satellites STEREO A and B. Just a bit more productive than Tetris. ^.^
