Belial never had a wimpy reputation until their third release where they totally changed style/sound. Their demos/first 2 releases are highly regarded (and rightly so) as some of the best black/death metal to come from Scandinavia. Or anywhere else for that matter. Fukkin' godly stuffs if ye can find it.

I have no idea why Belial had such a "wimpy" reputation. Maybe it was something personal between the guys from the band and from the underground. They never reached the "cult status"...

I personally like their music and have originals of all their releases (at least pretty much...).

But Mythos (with Belial's Jukka Valppu) is another story... their debut demo and album are incredible stuff! Greetings to Teemu!

This EP is a brutal perfection. Encylopediae Metallum praised it even as one of the best Death/Black metal releases of all time .They seems to share members with Impaled Nazarene. I prefer Belial ,though
