I am currently his life story in the book called "No Compromise" written by Melody Green and David Hazard...I just read the part of how Melody wrote this song...they had a sharing at their home and Keith said that our "life should be a prayer" and melody had this line burning in her mind and then she went to the music room and this song was birthed through the power of the Holy Spirit!!! such an awesome song!!!! @Ra30D I agree! Have you heard of Misty Edwards? She has that same heart after God, and she has a lot of songs here on youtube, some of my personal favorites are "Arms Wide Open", "Baptize My Heart" and if you search "Misty Edwards-speaking" it's a life-changing video of her preaching. Also Steve Camp is another artist, who was around when Keith Green was, who is a real worshiper. One of my favorites by him is "He Covers Me". I remember a concert shortly after Keith's death where Melody spoke- I will never forget her wisdom, and her peace. I had no idea this was her song. Keith- your light still shines. This song is my mantra.
yes, the Holy Spirit worked through him. it wasn't much longer before the Lord took him home. while he is missed. His voice lives on. I miss Keith's voice. the calm and peace of the Holy Spirit was miraculous through him.he was an instrument of the Lord on vocals and piano. Music is God's delight and an honor. It's so amazing how the Spirit of God, His LOVE flows through Keith's music even these many decades later. Jesus is ALIVE and He is alive in the music of Keith Green. I thank You Tube for allowing us to play this music from heaven.
One of the things that so impressed me with Keith Green was his ability to get to the hearts & souls of others through Christ. Each of his songs were thought provoking and filled with the Spirit. Loved listening to not only Keith but also Second Chapter of Acts and Phil Keagy as a teenager.

While others were really "cashing in" on the contemporary Christian music at that time (we all know who they were) Keith was IMO truly "ministering". I used to love his ministry's "Last Day's Newsletter" that they also sent free no matter what you donated. He was one of the few that truly seemed sincere in everything.

According to the biography by KG's wife Melody, the line "don't bother coming at all" was controversial. KG was a California hippie with a Jewish background. He questioned many of the religious practices of professing Christians--I believe, rightly so. "Many will say to me on the day, Lord, Lord...". One way to read the gospels is to see that religious people put Jesus on the cross. Would the same happen if Jesus was in the flesh today???

There are many Christians who share this idea, accept it is not scripturally supported as we are told not to forsake meeting together and encouraging one another. I'm sure there are many people in church that could benefit from your point of view, but if you don't go and fellowship with them, you are leaving them there (agreeably wrong) ways.
@cobrafrobra haha sorry about that, it wasnt supposed to end there. i was going to go on to say skip the church service this week and take it to the streets. My wife and i recently moved into a community of believers that are in a low income part of cincinnati. The whole goal is to bring hope into this area through active service. We are constantly meeting up and having fellowship. We just dont have the attatchment to a specific organization or building.

This guy was a great musician and probably a really nice guy but it's odd that he could be so passionate and so sincere about the "god" idea. His brain must have been wired most peculierly, but that's probably why he was such a great musician.

@anita1usa "Totally sold out to Jesus." I'd call it totally emotionally dependent on the belief. Such emotional dependence on a specic belief would have probably been brought on by the fact that his life was otherwise chaotic and unstable with drug addiction which in it's turn was probably brought on by a trama of some cause. And I wouldn't call it "anointing" either. I'd call it an obsessive compulsiveity probably due to moderate depression. Good musician though, probably a nice guy too.

Do you think that Keith was taken from us because the christian community was beginning to set their gaze upon the messenger and not the one who sent the message?Look at the comments section and see if it isn't so!Keith would want all attention to be diverted away from him and onto Jesus.I have heard and you probably have too that,"I can't wait to get to heaven if only to see Keith and others in concert!"Please let the main reason that you want to go to heaven is to be with Jesus!

I am currently his life story in the book called "No Compromise" written by Melody Green and David Hazard...I just read the part of how Melody wrote this song...they had a sharing at their home and Keith said that our "life should be a prayer" and melody had this line burning in her mind and then she went to the music room and this song was birthed through the power of the Holy Spirit!!! such an awesome song!!!! Jesus is awesome!!!

@Ra30D I agree! Have you heard of Misty Edwards? She has that same heart after God, and she has a lot of songs here on youtube, some of my personal favorites are "Arms Wide Open", "Baptize My Heart" and if you search "Misty Edwards-speaking" it's a life-changing video of her preaching. Also Steve Camp is another artist, who was around when Keith Green was, who is a real worshiper. One of my favorites by him is "He Covers Me". I hope these artist's ministries can bless you like have blessed me!

I remember a concert shortly after Keith's death where Melody spoke- I will never forget her wisdom, and her peace. I had no idea this was her song. Keith- your light still shines. This song is my mantra.

yes, the Holy Spirit worked through him. it wasn't much longer before the Lord took him home. while he is missed. His voice lives on. I miss Keith's voice. the calm and peace of the Holy Spirit was miraculous through him.he was an instrument of the Lord on vocals and piano. Music is God's delight and an honor. One of the things that so impressed me with Keith Green was his ability to get to the hearts & souls of others through Christ. Each of his songs were thought provoking and filled with the Spirit. Loved listening to not only Keith but also Second Chapter of Acts and Phil Keagy as a teenager.

While others were really "cashing in" on the contemporary Christian music at that time (we all know who they were) Keith was IMO truly "ministering". I used to love his ministry's "Last Day's Newsletter" that they also sent free no matter what you donated. He was one of the few that truly seemed sincere in everything.

According to the biography by KG's wife Melody, the line "don't bother coming at all" was controversial. KG was a California hippie with a Jewish background. He questioned many of the religious practices of professing Christians--I believe, rightly so. "Many will say to me on the day, Lord, Lord...". One way to read the gospels is to see that religious people put Jesus on the cross. Would the same happen if Jesus was in the flesh today???

Jesus has shown that same obsession towards us, is it bad to experience that same love and be full of it enough to want to show him everything. Jesus asked us to come to him anytime, one's a year, if that's all you got in you, however, He also wants us to come and fellowship with him, as much as you would want to be with someone you truly loved.
Keith is trying to motivate believers, to take there relationship with God deeper, however GOD NEVER says to not bother coming.

I became a Chistian in 84' and Keith Greens album "I Only Want to See You There" was my first christian album. Keiths music still speaks to my heart like no other and while I listen to this song and write these words, tears are welling up in my eyes. My life has been a mess for years and instead of drawing close to Him and asking for help and guidance, I've been running from the Lord. This song is my prayer tonight. Pray for me.

i don't consider myself christian, but being raised christian as a kid, the book about keith green's life was floating around my house... it is a really moving, beautiful story & i find his music hits me pretty deep, lotsa beautiful devotion going on... There are many Christians who share this idea, accept it is not scripturally supported as we are told not to forsake meeting together and encouraging one another. I'm sure there are many people in church that could benefit from your point of view, but if you don't go and fellowship with them, you are leaving them there (agreeably wrong) ways.

My wife and i recently moved into a community of believers that are in a low income part of cincinnati. The whole goal is to bring hope into this area through active service. We are constantly meeting up and having fellowship. We just dont have the attatchment to a specific organization or building.

Keith Green was 1 st Christian artist whose music I bought many years ago. His music fills me. I raised my children on some of these songs.
I was so sad to hear he had died in such a terrible accident. Yet he is with the Lord now. I am so happy to find his videos.

This guy was a great musician and probably a really nice guy but it's odd that he could be so passionate and so sincere about the "god" idea. His brain must have been wired most peculierly, but that's probably why he was such a great musician.

@scruethedemiurge - This kind of thinking means a Person is Totally Sold Out to Jesus. And his wonderful music shows it - that is called an Anointing. THAT is the peculiar wiring you are talking about. Keith was an awesome Man of God who changed genrations to follow the Lord closer!

@anita1usa "Totally sold out to Jesus." I'd call it totally emotionally dependent on the belief. Such emotional dependence on a specic belief would have probably been brought on by the fact that his life was otherwise chaotic and unstable with drug addiction which in it's turn was probably brought on by a trama of some cause. And I wouldn't call it "anointing" either. I'd call it an obsessive compulsiveity probably due to moderate depression. Good musician though, probably a nice guy too.

@anita1usa (continued) I really mean that. He probably was a really nice guy, not like some of the high profile christians now days who go around denying the fact of evolution and trying to argue rationally for the existence of a god as if it's not a mere article of faith.

That's quite a claim to make about people you don't know and have never met. As for your "one day you will know that" remark, that's just creepy. But anyway, I never claimed to have the man all "figured out". That would be ridiculus. I know rather little about him; just that he was a great musician though a little crazy, which hardly detracts from his admirability.

Yes Brother we are man when i listen to this song it seems to put something into me that is indescribable, i was once lost but now he has found me and i will never leave my Papa In heaven and want my life really be a Life of Prayer,Lord i wanna die so you may live, truly saints be blessed seek the Lord worship him in Spirit and Truth don't just warm them pew's get out there and preach the gospel save the lost he loves them too Amen, he is still on the throne.

Jesus said I am The Way, The Life and The Truth. He called Abraham who followed by faith. He sent Moses to introduce Law/Torah which protected His people. The Jews were chosen through Abraham and his seed. What a cost the Jews have paid throughout history for being chosen...and are still paying. We have salvation through them carrying the Word through the seed of Abraham to Yeshua/Jesus and through being rejected 2000 years ago the way now is open for all of us to be 'grafted in'..

Do you believe God? Do you believe there was a flood? What happened to everyone but Noah? Was there one path then? It's not us who make God.. God makes us.. Our God wouldn't do this or that.. But is our God THE God? Where is Love? Only when a God will die for us.. and when we don't believe He died for us and that He is the only way we call Jesus a liar and therefore God the Father a Liar because God the Father sent Jesus as a perfect sacrifice for us.. there is no other..

@emadmadi Jesus says in his prayers: Our Father. It is the only name of the 99 names in Islam for Allah that is missing. Why? Because Islam does not acknowledges Jesus as Allahs son. But Jesus came to this earth to bring us back into relationship with the Father who created us. So we are family and can call out to Allah saying: Our Father

@emadmadi Whoops, hit the wrong button, you did not say enough for me to agree or disagree. Jesus is more than a prophet. He is the Son of God. God gave us the ultimate sacrifice because he loved us. He does not ask us to give this sacrifice as some other religions do.
