I have been working for myself for most of my life, and i can't really afford health insurance. if I could buy health insurance for a reasonable rate like $100 a month for good coverage, I would shit myself. Right now coverage for me and family for decent coverage is roughly $700 a month, it goes up from there. Why would anyone vote against something that we all really need? Because our taxes might go up 3%? Big deal, still waaayy cheaper then good coverage currently is..

In America.... we already spend over 50% of total healthcare in this country on Medicare/Medicaid. That's right the elderly in particular already cost our federal government way more money than young American's would. If we already have over 50% of healthcare in this country paid for by our government... what are people so afraid of? Do you feel like your being taken advantage of by the government now when you go to the doctor or does it feel like the government is taking advantage of you??????

It's been run so innefficiently that that 50% is effectively wasted. If Medicare/Medicaid was remade, dismantled and put back together, it could cost a lot less, and provide a whole lot more :) But it's got to be done, or it's a waste of taxes.

A friend of mine absolutely despises his low-paying job, & everything about it; but it gives the best health benefits. He's terrified of losing it, because of his heart condition which cost him three operations and $40,000 (the part the insurance didn't cover). He is a very depressed person, and details his problems in daily emails; and yet he's a Republican and sees Universal Healthcare as evil. He thinks the system as it is, is the best. You can fool some of the people, all of the time...
