I am a MMA fighter I take Judo, Sambo, BJJ, Boxing, and Muay Thai. I still wish I knew more What I'm saying that there is no such thing as the best style, but there might be a perfect style or styles for you.

I am a practitioner of BJJ (I have been doing it a little over a year now) and I can tell you right now, BJJ by itslef, is increadably ineffective, however if used CORRECTLY with other martial arts it becomes extreemly effective. BJJ fighters don't know how to take/give strikes, deal with multipule attackers, guns, knives, improvised weapons, so many holes in the BJJ game.

Tae Kwon Do is utilized by one of the top special forces in the word: The White Tiger 707. Even US Rangers and Special Forces go train with them so they can learn a thing or two from them. Also during the Vietnam War, the Korean army was extremely notorious for their effective hand-to-hand combat.

@Linkous7 they are not. martial arts can be completely useless for self defence debending on what they are and what rules are used during sparing. TKD for example is almost irrelevant for self defense.
@GoliathNationalBank in traditional MMA setting it isnt very good, but it does have the best weapons defense out there. as well as some great fatal attacks, which of course, cant be used in competitions
Fedor's main strength is probably his sambo skill, which he has used to earn his 31-1 record. Overall, it might not be better than learning a stand up style and bjj, but Fedor has proven that if you get really really good at it, you can dominate in MMA.

Ever heard of Systema? That is killer. Combat Sambo + Systema is probably the most refined martial art in the world, nothing beat the combination of these two.
I thought systema was just a term to be honest with you. The only time I've ever even heard being used is in the phrase "Systema Spetsnaz." Must not be too well known in the states, since I've been doin judo for a good while but never heard of it before. I assume thats the style the Spetsnaz use.
Yeah I've seen a lot of videos on Spetsnaz and other SF, but I didn't know what the name for their close quarters fighting style was or if they even had a name for it.

@veprman pretty much the only useful thing you can learn in capoeira is that almost every fighter today has weak lower leg defense. The only thing I would use in a fight from capoeira are the consecutive sweeps with sways. It takes away an opponents footing and makes it harder for them to strike back (you're low while doing this) while dodging the next sweep. Besides that it's entertainment lol.
@veprman i know a lot of MMA fighters learn capoeira to exploit the weak lower leg defence and to learn a lot of recoveries and balance, because capoeira is based around balance and speed.
the dance style is for show, but it can realistically be used because most people wont expect it and its very dynamic. although i wouldnt use it as a main martial art, its good to know.
Capoeira is great kick studying, in real fight capoeira is good, like if u start dancing, oponnent start laugh, and than bam bam bam with some armada kicks, and opponent is on ground.
aikido is shit. how many aikido fighters fight in MMA? how many aikido fighters are undefeated heavyweight champions for 5 years straight? sambo is a great style.
i disagree with the title of this video, this is mma vs sambo. to call kickboxing vs sambo, kickboxer should not have bjj training.
most of the movements in Aikido involve small joint manipulation, therefore most of it's movements are illegeal in MMA.. yeah, Sambo is great, no denying that :) though I'm sure AIkido guys have their own tournaments or something *shrug*
in real life there are no rules such as no hitting in the head or face or balls thus any art that isnt in the MMA or UFC doesnt really matter. As long as it gets you out of a tough situation in real life then thats what TRULY matters but if your gonna make a sport of it whatever gives you better control with someone on the ground or standing is best.
you can basically group up MAs in self defense styles and Combat Sports ( I play around with those two terms at times) Don't underestimate non sports based arts. the reason why you wouldnt see an aikidoist in a ring, asides philosophy, is that its technically about laying an opponent on his back without a real intention to hurt. Another would be glove regulations would be a disadvantage and small joint manipulation is mostly forbidden. Another is JKD and KMaga, focusing on low blows and gouging

PS A real martial artist (I've been trained in TKD, K Maga, M Thai and some BJJ) knows enough not to underestimate styles, and much less ethnic groups.

@Linkous7 they are not. martial arts can be completely useless for self defence debending on what they are and what rules are used during sparing. TKD for example is almost irrelevant for self defense.

Fedor's main strength is probably his sambo skill, which he has used to earn his 31-1 record. Overall, it might not be better than learning a stand up style and bjj, but Fedor has proven that if you get really really good at it, you can dominate in MMA.

Ever heard of Systema? That is killer. Combat Sambo + Systema is probably the most refined martial art in the world, nothing beat the combination of these two.

I thought systema was just a term to be honest with you. The only time I've ever even heard being used is in the phrase "Systema Spetsnaz." Must not be too well known in the states, since I've been doin judo for a good while but never heard of it before. I assume thats the style the Spetsnaz use.

Yeah, its original use was for the russian army, however, by today many other nations have adobted systema for their use.

@lordvivec87 yep olief taktaoduced the mainstream U.S to sambo ex russian president vladimar putin was a blk blt in Sambo......To me sambo seems alot like traditional jujutsu with alot of greco-roman wrestling thrown in the mix it is VERY effective in close quater combat....It like jiujitsu needs extra arts thrown in to round them like muay tai,xtreme jeet kune do,savo,etc

@veprman pretty much the only useful thing you can learn in capoeira is that almost every fighter today has weak lower leg defense. The only thing I would use in a fight from capoeira are the consecutive sweeps with sways. It takes away an opponents footing and makes it harder for them to strike back (you're low while doing this) while dodging the next sweep. Besides that it's entertainment lol.

@veprman i know a lot of MMA fighters learn capoeira to exploit the weak lower leg defence and to learn a lot of recoveries and balance, because capoeira is based around balance and speed.
the dance style is for show, but it can realistically be used because most people wont expect it and its very dynamic. although i wouldnt use it as a main martial art, its good to know.

i disagree with the title of this video, this is mma vs sambo. to call kickboxing vs sambo, kickboxer should not have bjj training.

most of the movements in Aikido involve small joint manipulation, therefore most of it's movements are illegeal in MMA.. yeah, Sambo is great, no denying that :) though I'm sure AIkido guys have their own tournaments or something *shrug*

Aikido wasn't created for MMA tournaments. I agree that Sambo is a great style but principles of Aikido can improve MMA ground work.

in real life there are no rules such as no hitting in the head or face or balls thus any art that isnt in the MMA or UFC doesnt really matter. As long as it gets you out of a tough situation in real life then thats what TRULY matters but if your gonna make a sport of it whatever gives you better control with someone on the ground or standing is best.

you can basically group up MAs in self defense styles and Combat Sports ( I play around with those two terms at times) Don't underestimate non sports based arts. the reason why you wouldnt see an aikidoist in a ring, asides philosophy, is that its technically about laying an opponent on his back without a real intention to hurt. Another would be glove regulations would be a disadvantage and small joint manipulation is mostly forbidden. Another is JKD and KMaga, focusing on low blows and gouging
