  • Good question. Gutted the motor and hardware, cut a hole in the door and made a window with plexiglass. Wired up two, nine volt computer fans for air circulation, wired a power cord, wafer thermostat and a 60 watt light bulb. Really the only things I had to buy was the wafer thermostat on ebay for about 18 bucks and a light bulb, the rest came from the garbage dump.

  • We are currently using a 60 watt light bulb which easily brings the incubator up to the desired temp. After the hatch the babies will be moved to a brooder box with a red heat lamp suspended off the floor of the box. Most local farm supply stores have "chick starter" feed but chopped up grass could also be added to their diet. I'm sure there are other options but the goslings would forage for greens with the parents shortly after hatch if in a natural setting.
