Never Really Cared for the Sex Pistols my self but i love the Ramones as far as Old punk goes. When it comes to newer punk i like NoFX Nausea and the first couple of albums from Rancid
I like NOFX more than the Sex Pistols, but NOFX aren't as important. However...the Pistols were a manufactured pop group who mixed souped-up pub-rock with bullshit "controversial" lyrics (Bodies, Belsen Was A Gas). That is in no way a bad thing (although the lyrics remain cringeworthy) but NOFX are more talented AND more punk. They have released more material, and it is almost all of a high standard.
NOFX have been on an indie label for years releasing a high-standard of fast brief angry pop. By the usual standards, they are more "punk" than the Pistols, who released one overhyped album on a major label.
If you judge punk by speed, ferocity and political nature, NOFX destroy the Pistols. As for the Ramones, it's pretty hard to decide.

Actually, Billy Cobin was a real person, not meant to represent Kurt in anyway. That's the point. To all of us Billy Cobin is just "some guy" who committed suicide, but he had a family, he had a whole life just like us. This kind of thing happens everyday but just because it's not someone famous or someone we know doesn't make it any less meaningful or tragic.

I like NOFX more than the Sex Pistols, but NOFX aren't as important. However...the Pistols were a manufactured pop group who mixed souped-up pub-rock with bullshit "controversial" lyrics (Bodies, Belsen Was A Gas). That is in no way a bad thing (although the lyrics remain cringeworthy) but NOFX are more talented AND more punk. They have released more material, and it is almost all of a high standard.

NOFX have been on an indie label for years releasing a high-standard of fast brief angry pop. By the usual standards, they are more "punk" than the Pistols, who released one overhyped album on a major label.
If you judge punk by speed, ferocity and political nature, NOFX destroy the Pistols. As for the Ramones, it's pretty hard to decide.
