My parents had a 30 year home loan and paid it off in 30 years. How can these people be in their home for 35 years and still have a mortgage ? Did they take money out of their house and refinance ? My parents wouldn't do that. They did w/out a lot of goodies and paid their mortgage off promptly. It's all about choices in life. Sadly for the taxpayer, it's "heads they win and tails we (taxpayer) loses".

I praise Maxine for taking a stand! She obviously has a heart unlike many fellow Americans who are spewing things like, "let them be kicked out onto the streets!" This is very upsetting that we are somehow doing a "humanitarian" coalition attack on Libya, but we can't help people here who are facing one of the foremost basic neccessities called, housing. It doesn't matter if some of you posters are stating that these people are dumb and don't deserve their homes and should be kicked out on the streets, that is not the point. The point is, they deserve a home. If they do get pushed out on the streets, then how do you think they will be able to function?

I'm trying to figure out how people get behind like this. Mortgage and car come first, everything else follows. If you can't afford the mortgage, you should consider selling before you get yourself into trouble. I'm not trying to be mean, just wondering.

First of all she bought a house thirteen years ago that required her to pay three hundred something dollars when she first go the home. Now she has retired and still had enough to cover her mortgage and some. We live in Louisiana, now insurance companies are trying to get their money back by forcing people who have little to no threat of flooding to pay outrageous

Don't make enough money - lower your lifestyle. No means to pay off a mortgage in it's entirety - don't sign a promissory note. These are very simple things to understand, but somehow these people are too stupid to digest these rules. Stop looking for handouts and free lunches. This is America! Do it yourself! The bank has every right to take back your house. They were the ones that put you into it when you didn't deserve it!

I applaud Congresswoman Water's for posting this video. The fact is, only 5% of loan mods are currently getting done and most will go into foreclosure. My predictions:

a. Lot's of people losing their homes in the next 24 months

b. Filing for Bankruptcies will skyrocket!!, which WILL STOP the foreclosure process.

The Loan Mod companies are making a lot of money and really don't provide a service.
