日本空手協会では「小」、国際松涛館では「大」としています。個­人的には「観空小」や「抜塞小」などは細かい技が多く、それぞれ­の「大」はダイナミックな技が多いような印象を受けますので、こ­の型も本来は「五十四歩大」なのかなという気がしますが・・・。­
