  • I typed in Dire Dire Docks Guitar in the search bar and I found this beauty. Thank you search bar.

  • Yo, do you have any recommendations for a good acoustic guitar?

  • You play drums and keyboard too?

  • @solidmario64 I do play a a bit of drums and keys but I wouldn't even slightly consider myself to be good at either of those instruments ;)

  • @CSGuitar89 Then how do you explain those awesome drum beats I keep hearing in all your vids?

  • Are you a nerd in anyway, cause u dont look like you would be?

  • @TheFireface81 Well, if a love for video games and music makes you a nerd, I guess I am ;)

  • @TheFireface81 This comment made me lol

  • this is awesome. good job.

  • Third video in a row of yours that I add to my favourites. And I don't like adding stuff to that playlist so easily...

  • wow it's perfect... you dont make any mistakes at all, congrats!

  • How can I download your music on a MAC again?

  • @solidmario64 To download the tunes from my website, just go to the 'MP3' page, right-click on the song you'd like to have and select something like 'Save as'.

  • I learned how to play this on piano not to long ago. One of the greatest songs in video game history, by far.

  • YES IVE FINALLY FOUND IT...lovely

  • A guitar cover is awesome. A CSGuitar89 cover is even better :)

  • You should do more songs from super mario 64 that would be awesome!!

  • a great one once again!

  • Best cover of this song I've heard. Really a great original song and a nice tone on the lead guitar.

  • FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

  • hehehe Casper when are you gonna do the ending theme to mario 64? ;) i know jules already did it but i'm really curious of how you would do it! :D

  • Did you learn guitar by lessons or self-taught??

  • @marcomak85647891 I took lessons for about 1.5 years when I started. After that I learnt most of what I know now from books or the Internet.

  • This song always reminds me of tangerine dream, I don't get why.

  • Dude, I am a big fan because you are actually taking time and effort into making awesome covers of old video games that we all love and remembers! I really enjoy your new project with the Zelda tracks. I am amazed every time you post a new video. I've seen two videos of your Zelda project so far. Amazing man!!! I can't wait to hear the rest of it! Thank you for doing what you do and rock on!

Greetings from a big Nintendo 64 fan!

  • It's called Jolly Roger's Bay

  • @anikid0392 you never reached dire dire docks did ya?

    it has the same music

  • @joostoboy I did. I beat the game completely. But Jolly Roger Bay comes first so it should be called Jolly Roger Bay.

  • @anikid0392 - This song is listed as "Dire, Dire Docks" on the Original Soundtrack list and its track number is #9.

However, I do agree with your reasoning as Jolly Roger's Bay is World 3, whilst Dire, Dire Docks is World 9.

Perhaps Koji Kondo composed the song especially for Dire, Dire Docks, but chose to reuse the song for Jolly Roger's Bay as well.

Other examples like Bob-omb Battlefield and Hazy Maze Cave are listed as "Super Mario 64 Main Theme" and "Cave Dungeon" respectively. Strange..

  • @MrChristopherCourage Yeah. Strange. SM64 main theme should be the theme on Start Screen.

  • You just earmed a new subscriber. Level up for you sir.

  • That fucking eel.

  • SUPER MARIO 64 FTW

  • The leads on the Sg have a sweet tone. What amp are you playing through?

  • @huffalmighty Thanks! Actually, I'm not playing through an amp at all ;) I plug my guitar directly into a mixing board and create my guitar sound with an amp simulation plugin called POD Farm. I think I was using a simulation of the Fender Tweed Bassman though.

  • What program do you use to program the drums? They sound really, really good.

  • @AquaxNintendo Thanks! I'm using EZdrummer from Toontrack to sequence the drums.

  • you are doing a great job right there!

2 questions: how long does it take you to get one song that good?

is it ok for you if use some of your songs for Mario Kart World Record videos?(i will credit you in the description with channel link)

  • @TheMKWChamp Glad you like it! Well, practicing the song doesn't take me too much time to be honest. Most of the time I can play the tracks well enough after a few hours of practice when I already have the parts figured out. Figuring out the tracks, making the arrangement and recording are the things that really take a lot of time. All in all I'd say one cover takes about 15-20 hours of work or something. I don't really know though since I never keep track of time ;)

  • This is the best cover of Dire Dire Docks i have ever heard! You make the best covers.

  • ahhhhh so many fantastic memories. + 1 subscriber

  • 5 people are trolls

  • oh yea and 5 people fell asleep.

  • "yawns" o_o damnit stay awake. i gotta see the rest of this first.

  • I also loved how this song just burst into a Drum n Bass beat like halfway through

  • the only problem here are that the drums are so fast !!!

  • Better than the original.

  • Oh my god man... This was SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great job! Hey, I got a question: Are all the guitars in standard tuning?

  • @BXV2009 Thanks, glad you like it :) All of the guitars are in standard tuning, except for the acoustic rhythm guitars and bass, which are tuned to drop D. Also, I used a seven-string guitar for the distorted rhythms, which has an added low B string.

  • @CSGuitar89 Four- or five-string bass, and can I use 12-string electric as well?

  • @BXV2009 I use a 5-string bass myself, but you can also play it on a 4-string if you want. You might want to tune down or transpose some notes though. Of course you can also play it on a 12-string if you like. Just make sure you're in the right tuning ;)

  • Such an underrated song in Video games

  • so soothing

  • Can i just start by saying you are the greatest man who ever lived and you make amazing nintendo covers! :D

  • Oh God yes this is heavenly!

  • i kinda wanna play SM64 now.

  • @mycahman I REALLY wanna play it now!

  • is it wrong if this music gave me a boner

  • @willemur1000

Not if you favorited the video :3

  • @willemur1000 not at all its epic

  • whoooooo i luv dis song cover music theme! :D

btw you missed a major strings "solo" near the part where the percussion begins. but thats ok. ;)

  • EPIC

  • you strum my pain with your fingers, you sing my life with you plucks, you, are killing me softly with these songs. i love you <3

  • Whenever I hear this song, I just let my thoughts just swim around. It gives me a chance to genuinely relax unlike much of the other music I listen to, even though I love it, too. I love how this cover built so slowly and carefully from the acoustic and bass to synths to drums to, finally, distorted guitar.

This cover deserves as much viewership as the original itself; it breathes life back into this masterpiece and could easily stand alone as a exceptional song in its own right.

  • DAMN your hella talented...... major thumbs up man this gives me inspiration to do something like this. :3

  • This is absolutely beautiful.

  • @miltymilt I know, it really makes me think about everything that goes on in my life...

  • so relaxing

  • 1:35 damn, ritzy neighborhood dude

  • love your covers man,

  • flash back into the late 90s man LOVE! <3 When life was still easy.. before High school -sigh- I feel old, haha.

  • This is soo realzing by you. Sooo talented

  • This is so good i can play i on my piano but i love the sound of this a lil more the e guitar makes is kinda special

  • Man, this really makes me want to bust out my N64 for some old school goodness...

  • You, lonlonjp, and layelectone are the Gods of Youtube.

  • haha dire dire docks using an ENGL.. Should do a metal arrangement..

  • DUDE i fucking love this dire dire docks is my favorite melody of all time and you made that shit fucking beast i hope u get famous so i can see you perform one day

  • I can listen to the opening accustic guitar all day.

  • Love this rendition, awesome!

  • Amazing dude so relaxing i remember playing this as a little boy ^.^ Those were the days :') :P

  • All of your music is sooo relaxing... I've been having problems at school with friends and when i come home probably not as confident of myself as i should be... i listen to your music and the day literally washes away. Thanks for being such a great musician!

  • Wow, i knew one day you'd make a cover of this song, you finnaly have done it, and it was well worth the wait.... simply amazing. You caught the original atmosphere and refurnished it. Nothing more i have to say..... just great......... :D.

  • Yet another song i want playing through my house all day long

  • this... this is giving me chills. i've spent countless hours on Super Mario 64, and this is such a beautiful cover... rock on man, you kick ass.

  • hey man, awesome video... i have a question though. How do you make that sound effect that echoes throughout the whole song??

  • @LightStevOo Thanks! I assume you mean the little subtle guitar bits? I used a phaser for that sound, but also quite a bit of reverb and delay to give it a nice ambient effect :)

  • This is the most relaxing song ever devised by man

  • r u doing a solo or is there someone eles

  • @linkstr3000 I'm playing all the parts that are in this video, except for the drums, which I programmed myself :)

  • Do you play the Elder Scrolls games? If so, would you ever consider doing a cover of "Reign of the Septims" from the Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion soundtrack (its the main theme).

  • Wow very nice! see my channel I have a cover on guitar

  • Ooooh... The light going down at the end is a nice touch. Well done, sir.

  • I could just smoke some weed and listen to this all day.

  • Are you using a POD controller for the effects?

  • @picklemnstr11 I'm just using POD Farm with my guitar going directly into a mixing board so no controllers. If I want to change my sound I just move that piece of the guitar part to another track ;)

  • This song actually reminded me of another, would you consider doing a cover of "Finale" from the movie "The Kingdom"? It was also used in the nighttime freeway scene in "Rango".

  • THIS IS AMAZING

  • Aw, man, this used to sound so perfect! But now the tone seems to have gotten a little too high. It's either me, or YouTube's messing up the video somehow. Either way, fantastic work. =)

  • @MiracleMile90 Hmm, that's pretty weird since it's in the exact same key as the original song... Glad you like it though ;)

  • @MiracleMile90 You played on a PAL system, didn't you?

  • Arrrrgh! Childhood memories flooding back.... This cover gave me butterflies in my stomach!

  • i want be old, siting in a sofa in front of a lake and thinking in my childhood

  • I've always loved this song, it's so calming, i used to just go to that place to listen to the song XD

  • Hey,

dit is echt geweldig, het klinkt echt super!

en je woont heel dichtbij haha

    keep it up man!

  • can i make a request? im going to anyways.. "Ruined Seles" from Legend of Dragoon. incredible song with amazing atmosphere.

  • I've been a fan of your playing for a while. You're very good and fun to listen to !

Me thinks a special video of you playing the other guitar pieces all on screen simultaneously would pwn. =]

  • Thank you. I am touched.

  • What's the song at the very beginning if it is a real song?

  • @Hazardous95 It's some small piece that I came up with myself. It's not really a song yet though :)

  • @CSGuitar89 aw man it sounds like its gnna be a great piece! well dire dire docks was great too same with ur other vids! tell me when you've finished that one piece :D

  • Nice sweep echo! Good fx dude!

  • its just such a surreal song, i cant find a way to stop listening to it.

  • Awesome! Sounds really great! :D

  • Awesome! Sounds really great! :D

  • I feel like shooting out of a cannon and diving into the water to chase a gigantic eel!

  • you, by far, bring back nostalgia at its best ;)

  • please do the world a favour and make guitar pro tabs, i would pay for them!

  • @funmurderer Haha, I'm really sorry to disappoint you but I will probably never work with GP. I just find it so hard to work with that it would cost me a LOT of extra time to program everything in Guitar Pro while I think most people will be able to figure it out with the regular tabs and video. Besides, I think it will only benefit people as musicians if they have to make a little effort themselves to learn how to play these songs ;)

  • Absolutely loving the sound of the lead part. Dunno how you got that sound, but it works extremely well with the song. Hats off to you, great sir.

  • Thank god he didn't make this into a metal song like all of his other videos. This song was always so soothing.

  • this is scary how good this sounds. the accuracy you have with the settings on the guitar is amazing at the least. i am to understand you use garageband as the music software. did you just play around with the reverb, delay, and other settings till you got the right sound? or are you using any external hardware such as an amp or a mixing board?

  • @nixbix21 Wow thanks :) I do you a mixing board to connect my guitar directly to the computer, I use POD Farm to create my guitar sounds and EZdrummer for the drums. Other than that it's just GarageBand and a lot of mixing ;)

  • If I have to pick one favourite from all of your fantastic covers I think it would be this one or ofc the Hyrule Field collaboration. This one have just captured the "Dire Dire Docks" feeling in a magnificent way .

  • brings a tear to one's eye...

  • Looks like there are 4 Bowsers.

  • the bass NEEDS no be louder.

  • Beautiful cover! so many memories i spent indoors playing this eating icecream with my cousin. Then going to the pool and playing pretend and playing out the stage.

Definitely calms me down and makes me great! thanks so much for this! :)

  • I would make a witty comment about the number of dislikes, but I'd rather spend my time listening to the actual video.

  • *mindmylanguage, but) HOLYFUCKSHITBIEBERBLAST !!

i was smiling to myself for two reasonss,

You my friend, brought back soo many memories in your awesome playing; it was soo precise, so brilliant, i think i might cry with happiness, no joke .

    OHMIGOD,FORTHEWIN . :D

  • Beautiful.

  • I think you should do a live performance with all of your clones.

  • Such a relaxing tune! Super Mario 64 FTW!!!

  • The view from that massive window behind you is fucking breath-taking...

    Song still wins though.

  • I hear Mario swimming and water sounds, in my mind xD

  • This is a very beautiful peice :)

  • i swear every time this comes on i go into a trance of awesomeness. its such a calming song

  • 23k views almost 24k? thats a joke u desserve more..

  • have u tried doing some touhou songs?

  • @matthew44able I'm not really familiar with that game to be honest so I haven't tried it but I'll make sure to check out the soundtrack ;)

  • This song always puts me to sleep... zzzz...

  • Amazing man, great job, should be proud

  • you're one of the bests i've ever seen on youtube!!

  • Awesome music <3

  • how did you get a whammy on you 7 string, i have the sam guitar but i dont have a bridge that can have a whammy bar

  • @DeathofMany It's an Ibanez RG7420, which comes standard with a licenced Floyd Rose. Not a big fan of it though...

  • @CSGuitar89 oh well i guess mine is different then, but why not? its a good guitar, but then again you have better

  • @DeathofMany It's a really great guitar indeed, one of my favorite guitars actually but Floyd Roses are just not for me... They need lots of adjustment, changing strings takes a lot of time and you can't just change tunings without having to re-adjust the bridge again. For me personally, it's just too much trouble for the amount that I use it so I'd rather have a fixed bridge.

  • Hearing this song brought me back to the days of the Nintendo 64 that I had and playing Mario and Zelda... and that's when I realized that COD is nothing compared to those games. Unfortunately, even the new Zelda and Mario games, while being good, can't be as good.

  • This is beautiful.

  • btw nice video. i love the shots of your house.

  • you are too amazing. this is so good especially when the drum machine comes in...holy shit.

  • Thank you!!!! You did one of the best themes in Super Mario 64. i'm looking foward to your next SM64 cover :D

  • o must have this *.* when is this coming out

  • @5taEspadaDR Ehm, sorry when is what coming out?

  • @CSGuitar89 like arent you going to sell this XD..an album or something XD this is awesome :O[your cd or something XD]

  • @CSGuitar89 Where's the temple music that's on the new DexterBoy video? :P

  • @KittyzKatterz It's on my channel ;) It's called the Ocarina of Time Warp Songs Medley. Check it out if you like!

  • you are a very cool guitarist

  • This brings me back...

  • Gorgeous, very smooth and enjoyable.

Have you ever heard the music for Gravity Beetle's stage of Megaman X3? It lends itself very well to guitar music.

  • Very beautiful guitar playing, it sounds wonderful. great job !!!

    Peter :)

  • Oh my god this is so good...Gorgeous, man.

  • its been snowing here. And when I saw that it had been snowing where you live, I felt this song so much more

  • could you please do the song from the title screen of yoshi's island (SNES)? oh and btw way, you rock and you are full of win.

  • @greenyoshi1990s Haha, thanks! That's a pretty cool song indeed. I'm not sure if it'll sound cool on guitar, but I'll try ;)

  • that was delicioussssss :)

  • Donkey kong!!! xD

  • LOVE THIS SONG! Done really well, too. I have a rendition of my own on the piano, and I'm kinda trying to get it noticed. I put it in as a video response.
