  • you first tried this on a beach day? you're super brave! i've used this over a year now and i love it. good review :)

  • i have tryed it and it is the best thing ever!!! i recomed it to all my friends

  • Great review. :) I am getting one now.

  • I remember when I used U by Kotex ones....Gah, I'd have to get another box after every 2 periods. I'm switching to the Divacup this cycle, and I hope for the best. And if anyone else says it's unsanitary, go tell my dentist that a retainer or mouth guard is unsanitary. Same concept.

  • do you take it out when you use the bath room

  • do you dry it off before you re insert it?

  • @peace2sign No. I personally don't because it's easier to get it in when it's wet.

  • @JustPeachy85 that's what she saidd

  • how did you get over the rinsing out at the end of the day?

  • @miat789 It really is no big deal, especially since it only takes a couple second and you don't have to touch the blood

  • do they do diva cups in the UK?

  • @EllieJelly25 they have menstrual cups in the UK by a different brand called mooncups. they have a website. i ordered mine from their site and it came in 2 days.

  • Thank you for posting this review. My friend has been using this product for years now, and will never go back to tampons or pads. I am 32 and have been using tampons since I was 16. I always hated pads when I was younger, and have had at least 1 embarrassing leakage incident that comes to mind with a pad. I've never liked putting bleached cotton inside me either. I love the cost savings and environmental responsibility of this product. I think I will buy today!

  • Awesome review I was thinking if I should get one now I am I'm gonna get one in a few days thanks

  • can you go swimming with this on and i disagree about the thing you said about tampons they arent so long the you lose IT and isnt it kinda messy taking out a tampon??

  • I just got the Diva Cup and so far its good but one question? Can i cut the stem. It kinda iratates me :/

  • @BriannasPlanet Yes you can cut the stem a little. It shouldn't be sticking out of your vagina.

  • I used a diva cup for 5 years and it somehow got lost when I moved. I've tried going back to tampons but they hurt especially when they expand and you have to take them out. I think I will be getting a new diva cup soon

  • @missamericanpie1 tampons absorb everything, blood and natural lubrication. You would rather wear a diaper or put cotton and bleach into your body?

  • @missamericanpie1 were not freaks because we don't conform with everybody else. Playing in your own blood? What's going through your mind when you write that? Pads feel like diapers, sorry for nit wanting to wear a diaper. Tam

  • Great review:) I was considering getting one and u helped me decide!:) I watched a video by lunapad that I think all tampon users should watch where they placed tampons in a glass of water and you could see all of the fibers that come off of the tampon once it is full that stay inside you. Gross;S I am going out to get a diva cup right now!!:D

  • I still have no idea why women are in love with putting cups in their vaginas.. But a tampon is somehow the devil?? No! What the hell is wrong with you people? What is so wrong with tampons and pads? And I'm sorry, but I'm not a surgeon and I'm not a fetish freak, so I'm not playing in blood, even if it is my own.

    You all are freaks.

  • @missamericanpie1 It's not a fetish at all. Who said that pads and tampons are the devil? They have bleach and dyes in them and some are even scented! That is horrible for your vagina and messes up the pH balance. Don't judge someone because you don't understand them. No reason to get nasty towards someone. You are bullying.

  • Pads are gross in your opinion (which u just have to throw out) . Removing the container and having to rinse it is not ? And oh...10 years? Would you, even if it were manufactured that way, use it for 10 years straight without replacement? Hell, 2 even?

  • @liyisa Well to answer you question, yes I would use it for 10 years if it still functions at that point. I boil mine in water for 10 minutes to disinfect it at the end of my monthly cycle and use the Dive Cup wash each day that it's in use. I've used the same Diva Cup for over 2 years now and I have no need to replace it. I know that I am cleaning it very well, and that it's disinfected so why would I need to replace something that isn't broken. That's just wasteful.

  • @JustPeachy85 Good point! I saw some review that said you could replace it every year- but I think that's like replacing your tupperware every year- not really necessary if you're cleaning it.

  • @liyisa Personally, I do not enjoy the feeling of wearing bulky pads (or even the thin ones) and defiantly do not enjoy the feeling of being wet for the entire time. It just feels dirty to me. But everyone is different so it's a matter of personal opinion. I hope this addresses your concerns.

  • @JustPeachy85 Very nice and politically correct answer...so what can I say, good for you then ! Good luck !

  • @liyisa Why would it be unsanitary to reuse it? That's something I never understood... I hear plenty of people say that the menstrual cup is not sanitary, but never any logical reasons as to why, except "Because it just is." It's the most sanitary form of handling your period there is

  • @liyisa Do you trust dentists when they tell you to use a retainer for years and years afterwards by only washing it? They're both some form of plastic, they both are reusable, they both wash right off, and are inside you. It's kinda like saying you don't trust dentists....

  • @liyisa pads are disgusting!! if you cant change it for awhile your sitting in that blood...and it smells funny!.....EW

  • what happens if you lie down or do a hand stand... where does the blood go....

  • @ambraaaa I found this on the products website under F&Q: Sports and Traveling

"Q. Could the flow reverse back into your body while performing very active sports or headstands?

A.The DivaCup holds one ounce (30 ml). The entire average monthly flow is around 30 to 40 ml according to the May Clinic.Theoretically, the flow could slosh around inside the cup and reverse out of the cup slightly, but it cannot travel back through the small cervical opening from which the flow expels."

  • @6922dani Exactly. Food grade silicone doesn't break down like a plastic, and the company used to say you could use it for FIFTEEN!!!! years, but they won't make any money that way,,,

  • They save A LOT of money, dont fill landfills, dont smell, you cant feel them, you cramp a LOT less, you dont absorb chemicals, you can leave them in for 8-12 hours before emptying and resinserting, you can wear them a day before you start and a day after you finish to avoid accidents. This product has made my period discomfort one day long. The other 3 days I can actually forget im menstruating. Everyone should try this!

  • I just looked at the website and it says that the cup should be replaced once a year. It DOES NOT LAST 10 YEARS

  • Up to 12 hours! assuming it isn't too full. Tip: don't be afraid of that part of your body, pad users - it's just you.

  • I used mine for the first time today and I was so paranoid. It's great, but for a relatively young virging it's a bit difficult getting it in and out

  • Great review. Thanks.

  • im 17 ans i want this thing !

  • all the reviews for menstrual cups on here are positive. :) nice review

  • Okay, I'm kind of confused. Do you take it out every time you're done with your period or do you keep it in for the whole time or what? And how would you take it out?

  • @Nieceboo95 search "diva cup" and its the 3rd one down. that video really helped me clear things up!

  • @Nieceboo95 You have to empty it at least once every 12 hours. So twice a day. Many women empty it in the morning when they get up, then they don't have to mess with it again until they get home in the evening! Once your period is over, you clean it and store it in its bag until your next period :)

  • Thanks good review!

  • I used to use the Diva Cup, but had random leaks. Found something much better. It's called the Me Luna Cup. It's only sold in england, but shipping is fast and cheap. Google it and check it out.

    Michelle

  • I don't know if ou know this by now or not, but the Diva Cup website says it must be replaced every year. I just thought you would like to know.

  • @MrsAngelAlamo They don't say you MUST replace it every year, they suggest replacing it every year. I have heard first-hand of women who have theirs for up to 8 years. It's medical grade silicone, which is used in permanent procedures in which it stays in your body for decades. Of course the company wants you to buy a few, so they "recommend" you replace it yearly, but hey- can't blame them for wanting to make some $ :)

  • @Margar02 yep.

  • so convincing. this kinda makes me feel bad about buying tampons.

  • I'm only 14 I crave one of these but i think I'm too small do u think it would hurt... Ps when I put in a tampon it hurts and these things look slot bigger than a applicator tampon even when folded... HELP!!!!!!

  • @whitneyhardison You should have no problem using the DivaCup. If you put it in correctly you shouldn't feel any pain or discomfort. Since you are pretty young, it may be that your body isn't used to things in that area of your body...so it may just take you a little while to get used to the feeling of something being there.I know when I first started using tampons they were very uncomfortable but you get used to it after awhile. I hope this helps. If you have any other questions let me know!

  • hi im 18 and im a virgin im not having sex until im married so will it make my vagina widen i really dont wanna break my hymen or watever they call it by using this thing please help

  • @teinaknowles1 This doesn't go up far enough for that to be an issue. The Diva Cup sits just 1inch or so from the vagina opening so it never comes in contact with the hymen. This also will not "stretch" you out. You're body naturally springs back to you're original size. You shouldn't have anything to worry about....actually tampons can break the hymen because you're inserting it so far in but that's not the case with the DivaCup. Hope this helps!

  • @JustPeachy85 I'm sorry I just need to say but your hymen is actually right at the opening of the vagina not inside, either way it shouldn't mater some women don't even have hymens!

  • @JustPeachy85 the hymen is at the opening of your vagina so inserting anything in there can break it

  • @teinaknowles1 The hymen is a membrane that partially covers the entrance to the vagina, so inserting anything (including tampons, fingers, or a menstrual cup) can stretch or break the hymen. Your hymen might already be stretched enough for this not to be an issue, but if your hymen is very important to you, I would not suggest using tampons or a menstrual cup - although I use one and I love it. Perhaps try reusable pads - they are comfier than disposables, and they are eco-friendly. :)

  • Can you practice putting it in and taking it out when you're not on your period so you know how to use it when you are?

  • @XOXOhollymarieXOXO Yes you can! Unlike tampons, the Diva Cup does not require any fluids to be present for it to work. You might need to run it under some water before hand so it's not dry...or even use some lube if need be.

  • @JustPeachy85 Awesome! Also, I've noticed I have a slight twinge of pain whenever I take tampons out, have you had any problems like this with the Diva Cup?

  • @XOXOhollymarieXOXO No pain at all! I always got really dry with tampons but the Diva Cup has truly been my savior! I don't even worry about "that time of the month" anymore because with the Diva Cup, I don't even realize I'm on it! :) I have noticed one small down side though...if you are engaging in strenuous workouts involving sit ups or something where you are pushing down on your abdomen, you'll feel the cup sitting there. It can become a little uncomfortable during those types of workouts

  • lol There's no way in hell I could get that thing inside me. XD

  • @Boozikenz LoL! Yeah you would think so but it folds down to the size of a regular tampon so it's totally do-able for everyone...really! :) Even when it pops back open once inserted, you don't feel anything (i.e. no pressure or anything uncomfortable...feels like nothings there).

  • @JustPeachy85 if your doing a sexy crazy dance.. on floors and stuff...would it be possible for it to fall out? kinda a disturbing question lol sorry

  • @AndallthatRush Nope! That's a good question actually.I was taking some pole dancing fitness classes with strip tease and pole work and I had no problems. It won't ever just pop out...sometimes if you're pushing down really hard like while doing sit ups (or going #2), it will naturally come down a little but it will never just pop out.I hope that helps! P.S.if you are going to be doing floor work aerobics, yoga, or anything where you're laying down I would empty it before beginning. Feels safer.

  • what do you do when you can't rinse it?

  • @GoodwinMary I'm not sure in what context you mean but if you're unable to take it out during the day time due to being at work or in some other public facilities,I would wait until you're going to hop into the shower at night/morning.(WARNING TMI alert)I usually empty mine in the toilet in the morning/night before I take a shower and then wash it and put it back in while in the shower. The hot water of the shower makes things easier to clean and insert.U can also wipe it with a tissue if u must.

  • This sounds really cool, I wanna try it! I hate having to buy tampons all the time. I'm just worried about it being messy or having trouble with insertion or removal.

  • @DarkandJaded It's really not bad at all. Removing it is really easy and not messy at all. U do have to dump and rinse it but it's really not bad at all. Insertion can take a little getting used to since you have to fold the cup to get it in...however once you do it a few times you'll get the hang of it! I can't imagine ever using anything else again...it's just that awesome!

  • @JustPeachy85 That sounds awesome. I'd really love to try it and I might suggest it to my sister and best friend if I like it.

    Thanks. :)

  • I LOVE my Diva cup. Unfortunately I have an IUD and am not allowed to use both at the same time, and having to go back to tampons SUCKS. I can't wait until I have my kids and my husband gets a vasectomy, which will be in about 10 years...hah!

  • I have one also it's amazing changed my life! Try it it's great.

  • Oh and I haven't seen anyone else comment on this but you can leave it in for 12 HOURS, not 8. That means I put mine in first thing in the morning and take it out right before I go to bed!

  • I am so glad that more and more people are finding out about cups! I own two. I DivaCup and a Lunette. Both are pretty darn awesome!

  • when i first saw this in a pharmacy earlier this year i was disgusted but I've watched a few reviews and so far it's really looking up. When you think about it... pads and tampons trap the blood the same way and it just kind of sits there till u change it so it's no grosser than they are... Maybe I will try it out... I think the part that causes that initial disgust is that it's still in liquid form...

  • Great review!

  • Hi Ladies!! Try the Diva Cup! :) I'm a huge fan! I use cup number 2 because I've had 2 children and I'm 39. I wish I'd known about the cup sooner. Its wonderful.

  • where did you find it? ive never seen any thing like this. i really want to try it thanks for the review. :)

  • @heatherp7808 I just did a google search to find companies who sell it. It's selling for these prices at the following websites: $22.99 at LuckyVitamin, $21.95 at OrganicPharmacy, and $19.99 at southcoastshopping. I'm not sure how much shipping will be on each site so check them all out too see which one will be the cheapest after shipping! Hope this helps :)

  • @heatherp7808 I had never heard of it before either. I first saw it advertised in SELF magazine last year (2009). I bought mine and my sister-in-laws online @ organicpharmacy. I know it sounds gross but I will NEVER use pads or tampons again! It's like you're not even on your period (except for the cramping and bloating!)

  • @heatherp7808 I had never heard of it before either. I first saw it advertised in SELF magazine last year (2009). I bought mine and my sister-in-laws online at a store called organic pharmacy. • @heatherp7808 I bought mine online...I think that will be your best bet. Just google diva cup!

  • I have to say this seems a little strange but I actually do want to try it now...

  • @1DawnMarie1 When I first read about it I actually laughed at the concept but once you get past the weird idea of it, it really is a great solution. At first I thought it was going to be gross and messy but it's not at all. Definitely worth a try!
