OMG, when I was six years in the summer of 1955, I went on this kids show in Cleveland called the Uncle Jake Show (something) and sang this song. I was supposed to sing this nice little song about birdies that I had learned in kindergarten but to my family's surprise and horror I sang this one that my aunt had just taught me about cats and dogs being put through a meat grinder. LOL!
I can't believe how many people have heard of this song! My dad used to sing it to us in the car all the time. I taught it to my daughter when she was young and she sang it at a school talent show in the 1st grade. She's now 24 and we have so much fun watching this video of her. My dad was in the military, stationed back east. I wonder if that could have anything to do with others knowing the song? Being from the east coast and also the military. Anyway, thanks for sharing.
wow. my grampa taught me this song, and i thought i was the only other person besides him that knew it! lol everytime i sing it to my friends they look at me like "WTF?" rofl
