This song so reminds me of the Sound Machine that would kill from the novel Atlas Shrugged. Great interpetation - always has been one of my Kate Bush Favs - wholly underated.
You see, this is why i can't stop listening to her. This is why i never listen to any other artist every day until it never gets old. She produces a sensation like this in me and whenever she is in control nothing else can be. It's like she gets right inside your soul and envelopes all of your emotions, making them flow just the way she wants. Nobody else can do that to me.
This song delivers itself to me in such a way, allowing my throat to close up preventing myself to cry. The production of the song, the lyrics and the storyline of it all... is just incredible.
I've often thought of the scene with Kate bringing tea in for Peter Vaughan (Smiling Harry Grout in Porridge) whenever I've seen Honeysuckle Weeks in 'Foyle's War' wearing a similar peaked cap and suit!
When Kate Bush sings, ' All they wanted was a sound that could kill someone...from a distance...' , sounds much like electronic harassment many are experiencing nowadays, the voice to skull(v2k) technology that puts voices into people heads to drive them nuts and change their character.
Absolutely haunting begining. Kate is awsome and has taken me places with her music. I own her whole catalogue amd this song is one of many favorites and my favorite video. I love the violins, Thanks for posting.
Well, this version is included in "This woman's Work Box".For a question of good look I found it in Brazil (the country, not the music) XD

Who spots Hugh Laurie in his first tv role?
leporidus 2 years ago 3
Actually, he was in "Alfresco", broadcast in 1985, but this video is from 1986. Nearly his first appearance though ;-)

He also had a small role in the 7th episode of "The Young ones" (Bambi) in 1984.
kaspervzzzbx 2 years ago
@kaspervzzzbx Apparently his first ever TV appearance was as part of the Cambridge Footlights Revue in '81.

That tracking shot down the collidor at 2:45 looks like its been back projected. Like they walked on the spot by the background is moved much faster

Dawn french and Hugh Laurie (Now in House in the US) are both in this video..It makes it rather comedy..great song though.
