I'm a little confused when you wrote the voice sound maker of Shi was the a d or a j you wrote? I think you're getting mixt up with some of your enlish letters. Eather that or I'm just reading them wrong. Also how do you know when to use the different zu and ji?
yes, i'd like to read and write it, but most of all i would like to know the grammar, i'm very curious! I'm learning Esperanto and i'm curious in other language completly different from mine, italian! =)
Thanks. But why do we just randomly add a voice marker when combined "chi" (blood) with "hana" (nose)? What's wrong with hanachi? I don't see it unpronouncible or something... Confused :O
Oh, for Japanese, hanaji is easier to pronounce than hanachi.
It's because the "a" before the "chi" is a voiced sound. Rather than putting an unvoiced sound of "chi", we prefer continuing the voiced sound and go "a-ji". Actually, this is also the case with Korean.
If you don't understand how it is easier, that means you havn't yet learned the way a Japanese would speak. I'll go into that in later lesson.
well im just learning japnese so i may be off on this guess but
i think that ochichi-san is the polite way to refer to some elses father and chichi would be the polite way of refering to ur father or a dad in general
i dont really know or not this is just an educated guess
cuz i know that adding o at the begining of certain words makes them much more polite
and you add san when refering to someone for example kodomo refers to a child or ur child but kodomosan refers to the other person's kid
the b is like i just like i guest im my land wee use h ash the b on guitar so it a little alike some how 0_0

I don't know what you mean. I never brought up "d".
2nd question is the same as when to use f or ph in English.

Would ハナジ be correct too? That's the other ji than the one you used.
And what about ヴ?
xDAZZE 2 years ago
No, ハナジ is wrong.
Although the sounds are the same, they are different.
Actually, "blood" is "チ". And when we combine it with "ハナ", it is the custom that we put voiced sound marker. That's why it shouldn't be "ジ".
But, even Japanese sometimes mix up "ハナヂ" and "ハナジ", so it's all right. :D
Yeah, I'll cover ヴ in later lesson. But I didn't cover it in this one, cuz that's not a genuine Katakana.

パパ、お父さん、父、and 父上 - All mean relatively the same thing with different levels of politeness.
Japanese is fun :3
NavarrB 2 years ago
Hey Hidetchi, is there any difference in meaning or connotation between 父 [ちち] and パパ? Just curious, that's all.
Choson4eva 2 years ago
"Papa" is kid's word. We don't use it in formal conversation. "Chichi" is a very polite way of saying "father". We use it in formal situations.
HIDETCHI 2 years ago
Very polite?! lol my primary teacher told me that 父 is informal and お父さん is formal. We never learnt パパ... =(
Choson4eva 2 years ago
Oh, you've learnt it other way around. Chichi is formal, and Otousan is informal. Papa is kid's word that sound very cute.

It's not Ochichi-san. It's Otou-san. We use it in everyday conversation, especially when you call your own father.
Chichi is only used in very formal situation.
