  • I have queen and workers but the stay in the outworld what should I do to get them in the nest

  • i have a queen and ants (other ants). but they are the same species of ants.if i will put them together will they kill the queen? answer please

  • is these ants also sold to americans?

  • I SUGGEST HAVING HARVESTER ANTS BECAUSE THOSE ANTS CLIMB A LOT AND I CAN SEE THAT THEYR PRETY SMALL

  • Myrmica rubra....i like these

  • a peace of shrimp...your ants have it made huh ...lol

  • what kind of ant is this

  • @adollar2 Myrmica rubra

  • thats no food that look like a pupae

  • @DanishnSonic It's a piece of shrimp :)

  • @MikeyBustosVideos oooo but it still looks like a pupae in the vid but if you say shrimp than its a shrimp.

  • what do myrmica rubras eat in winter january 30 2010 because when i feed them they dont eat anything my other colonies eat food but my myrmicas eat nothing what should i do

  • What kind of soil do you recommend for an arena? Do you put rocks on the top layer? Where could I find this kind of stuff, I need more soil for my outworld...

  • @PreppyPoser1 I just used the soil that came with the ants when I excavated this colony from their wild nest. The tricky thing with ants is if the soil is deep enough and moist enough, they will tunnel in their outworld. This outworld and video is quite old now and we no longer use this type of outworld setup.

  • This is cool lol

  • I agree that is a SUPER COOL VIDEO xD

  • how do you keep the ants from escaping?

  • Dude I was watching some of your vids and noticed you were on the top 11 canadian idol contestants. Congrats on not selling out to the music indusrty! I bet you would have won that contest too but they require you to sell your soul! You probably already know that but I have to say that your the man for not becoming a satan worshipper who works for the illuminati :D They would have made you done horrible, unforgivable things. What your doing is awesome! Fuck the industry!

  • antscanada..com

  • @AntsNorthAmerica fire ants mate in spring and dont mate in summer so you have a queen that looks like a fire ant there are alot that look like them if you want to now for sure get a worker and see if it stings like a fire ant

  • HAHA 2:04 looks like a checkpoint because the 2 guard ants are all still and when the scout with food comes they comunicate then the guards move over and let him through.

  • yah right now its nuptia mating season and i live in canada i realy need a PREGNANT queen for my ant farm where should i look??

  • @qsvrwlsn concrete slabs or ant hills

  • lol from 2:39 to 3:01 the ant is like wha do i do

  • I love ants

  • cool

  • This is awesome

  • I want to get ants and have ant wars is that possible?

  • It's so cute and interesting watching ants just waddle and carry things around. It's funny how they always try to carry large things that are almost too heavy for them. lol

  • how did you manage to catch queen ants what methods did you use

  • @bomerman104 There are several ways. All my best tips and secrets for catching queen ants are found in a book we sell at our ants store at AntsCanada, dot, com.

  • @AntsCanada When you do catch her, what do you feed her?

  • @tall32guy The queens? Well, if you're talking about this species, they are called semi-claustral which means the queens make a burrow but they still go out and forage for food themselves. So in that case, you would feed them honey and dead insects. With most other queen ants, you don't need to feed them at all until their workers arrive.

  • how do you catch the queen ant...please tell me i want a queen ant...im trying to get the black carpenter ant

  • i gotta ant farm i orderd it and if come with ant food and ant fun book

  • AntsCanada... plz ans me this did you study about ants? (myrmecology)??

  • Most of my knowledge on ants has been acquired through research online as well as self study and field research for over 20 years. I took Zoology in University.

  • i am very curious but what is zoology mate ?

  • Zoology is the study of animals.

  • my new ants came xD they are great, they moved out of the testube overnight nto the sand xD they are taking grains of sand out of their new nest xD they love the crickets legs :D :D :D

  • Very cool! What size is this grout nest? looks massive! o.0

  • The nest is very large. It is about 25" X 18"

  • MY ANTS CAN CROSS THE VASELINE!!!

  • Try using baby powder mixed with water

  • is there a species of ant that has sight and can see thier surroundings or are all ants blind/little sight and rely on thier antenai and scent? Becuase it would be awsome if they could see their surroundings imagine what the ants could be thinking walking up a clear tube looking down at all the other workers :)

  • @NzderCambro ants are not blind they have too many lenses in their eyes (human only have 1 lens) and ants depend on their antenne more than anything.

  • Some ants like various species of army ants are pretty close to if not completely blind. Other ant species like those belonging to the genus Gigantiops see very well.

  • I know that army ants are blind thx for making sure for my information anyway :D

  • Yeah, it's cool. I know you were mostly talking about the newer ants who see well. :)

  • my ants are getting lumps of sand and putting it in the entrance of the testube... waht are they doing.. PLEASE REPLY!

  • Your ants are hibernating and blocking the entrance of their nest. It's perfectly normal for this time of year (actually, they're a little late) so you can also expect a decrease in activity level until Spring. Good luck!

  • but it is hot in my room with my computer and lizard tank!! i thought they hibernate when it is cold?

  • No, they also run on a biological clock.

  • o, ok

  • is there anyway i could trick them out of hibernation? and what should i feed them during this season ?

  • You can try to keep them warm (heat pad 25-27 degrees C) and humid (lots of water and moist nest) and give them plenty of food. Some of our ants are waking up now but you don't have to rush them. Some say the hibernation and yearly break from activity makes the queens live longer.

  • there is bunch of new eggs in the nest... they just moved out of the tube and went in the sand.... i need advice on what to feed them.. they dont seem to be eating the food i have gave them

    i have given them..

    a few crumbs of biscuit

a bit of chicken (very small piece)

    a crumb of cake

    sugar water soaked cotton wool

they dont seem to be eating this... why?

  • Again, it's because they're hibernating. There's really not much you can do but be patient. Believe me, when you see how much work they will be feeding/cleaning/watering/maintaining in the Spring and Summer, you will come too appreciate hibernation season! ;)

  • ....so when should i start feeding them? will they not starve ?

  • When it gets warmer outside. For now keep them cool like in a basement so that they move slow or don't move at all. We keep our hibernating ants in a storage room in a basement where they get no heating whatsoever. Just don't leave them outside. Try your best to forget about them for the next month or two. Or if you want to keep them in your room and they don't seem to be looking for food, don't worry about feeding them more frequently than once a week or once every few weeks.

  • lol xD ur like a a bit of... chicken and and oh yah the cake... dont forget the suger and i know i am missin somethin...uuhhh forgot

  • @devilfish97

Guess KFC doesn't appeal to them anymore.

  • nice video very different

  • what should i feed them ?

  • i think i have found a ants nest what is the white staff hear there nest is it food or babys

  • Yes, they are the colony's babies. They're eggs, larvae, and pupae.

  • You have any idea if Lasius Niger can cross the vasiline layer? This is Myrmica Rubra right? Cool setup! Lot bigger than mine...

  • I don't think they can cross a thick band of vaseline. Yes, the ants in the video are Myrmica rubra.

  • hey how i can capture the ant queen in her nest??

  • Hm i see. Btw i checked your stuff and i'm amazed, great tracks, great voice im a musician myself, im producing electronic music.Congrats again :D

  • So much appreciated, man! :)

  • Is that vaseline on the walls? does that prevent ants from leaving your aquarium? if yes, how?

  • Yes, it's vaseline. The ants don't like to walk through it. It's slippery and very sticky and unsuitable for ant walking. Some species of ants can cross vaseline, but not this species if it's a thick band of vaseline.

  • that adult is giving the young kids food right? awesome video

  • do you have any vids of the queen laying eggs??? Your inspiring me to want to build a setup like yours. you should make a how to viddy.

  • I don't have a video of a queen laying eggs yet. I will eventually create a video of how I make my grout nests. I will be making one very soon.

  • this is a great example of how ants are not selfish. great video 5 star

  • LoL soooo cool.

  • You're right, super cool!
