  • @kandjlove95 I'm 16 and I have it too, and sorry but it supposedly gets worse with age.

  • I have passed out three times because of Orthostatic Hypotension.

And two days ago, it was in the shower and I fractured my arm.

I'm 15 right now.. hopefully it just subsides /:

  • i also have Orthostatic Hypotension really bad , i cant see at all , like white blurr of flashbang, i lose balance , and it feels weird , i cant here what people are saying

  • what did the doctor do to fix this because i have the same symptoms

  • I may have Orthostatic Hypotension aswell... Do you get uncompofrtale in hot weather?

  • your beautiful

  • @crazylara and anyone else wondering about orthostatic hypotension

I was told that it becomes more mild as you get older in most cases, but the nurse I talked to who said that she was diagnosed with it said that she still had moments of wooziness.

I don't think you can necessarily CURE it, only lighten the severity of the effects, try keeping water on hand and make sure that if you have to stand for any considerable period of time, that you don't lock your knees, ( that's well known in the wor

  • I know how you feel with the dizziness, I got that alot but thought nothing of it for a long time, but just yesterday, I went to the doctor after fainting on the middle of a choral performance with my school competition choir ( it was our FIRST one too...)

I got diagnosed with it yesterday and am going to have to have water on me at all times since I live in the tropics where it's always hot.

  • I think I have orthostatic hypotension, how do I cure it?

  • i think i have orthostatic hypotension at random times my eyes go black i feel dizzy and my neck and whole body feel weak also I get a major headache and my ears have a ring in them that wont stop. yesterday i had a major case of it, it lasted for 2 minutes or so i almost passed out.Next time you have an attack you should sit in a crouch position that usually helps me stop it. itll be okay im going to the doctor to see whats wrong soon.this has been happening to me since i was 7 i wish you luck

  • I have Orthostatic Hypotension naturally. My longest time was around 30 seconds. I don't know why I have it, but it is really annoying.

  • i talked to a doctor and said this is most likely what i have, vision goes white for like 5sec, dizzy, ect and it's odd b/c of my hypertention, idk if thay have a coralation or not but im getting blood work done soon to see whats goin on

  • That was a syncope episode.

I went to a neurologist to find the cause of that and my daily headaches, I had a cat scan but ive been researching and that sounds exactly like what I have. I just have to wait for results to go back to the doctor to test for OH.

  • I recommend people not to smoke if you have this and Also try stretch excersis like touching your feet before your getting from bed, that way the muscles get the message to hold on to the blood.

  • Aw I have Orthostatic Hypotension, found out today actually, always wondered what it was, getting really bad, fell cut my head because of it :( HORRIBLE!!!!

  • i have it too it gets really bad when i eat sugar in the morning. I drink a gatorade everyday at lunch. I also carry salt packets around with me.if i get up from my bed in the morning to fast then im dizzy the whole day.ive had epiodes where i have alost fainted in resturants like red lobster.

i am also a very very athletic person.

  • Your athletic person? Thats probably linked, becoz i too statred sports at an early age, guess it has to do with excersise, moreover may be ur problem could be dehydration and not hypotension.

  • i have orthostatic hypotension too :( i hate it

  • im not sure if i have orthostatic hypotension. i go blind as soon as i stand up. then i start shakng which i have no control over and i usually have to drop down onto my knees really quick or ill knock myself out when i start to fall over.

  • Hi, i've been diagnosed by doctors to have orthostatic hypotension, i have it quiet severly, and it happens every week, i almost always completely loose my vision it gets pitch black for about 10 15 seconds, i have to stand holding on to something. it can get dangerous becuase once i almost fell. I also get very lightheaded and dizy from standing up. I'm hoping to seek treatment.

  • if you try drinking gatorade and eating more salty foods it helps alot

  • yehi think i have it to whenever i get i almost faint the room spins and i have an amazing head rush where i almostfait and my head hurts like hell

  • I think I have Orthostatic Hypotension as well. Usually happens when I'm working out. I get up after lifting weights and I feel dizzy and my vision goes black and I almost faint. I'm trying to get into the habit of breathing more during workouts and drinking more water. Hopefully I'll get my blood pressure tested in a while.

Btw, you have pretty eyes. :)

  • grrr i have this 2 and when i get up i get dissy but it goes after a while the doctor says it is due 2 low blood presure because im athletic

  • Yeah... low blood pressure = hypotension in medical terminology.

  • how did the test go ?

  • Hey I think I have orthostatic hypotension too, i feel the same way... today it kinda got a little bad.. I guess i should have that checked out... i have told my dr. about it but he says its due to dehydration???

  • I have orthostatic hypotension, too, and it is driving me crazy. Increasing water really has made an improvement in me, but it doesn't matter how much water I drink, I still have at least 3-4 minor "episodes" per day (but upping my water has dramatically reduced the major episodes, like you one you described). I'll be looking forward to seeing how your tilt test goes, because what you described has happened to me a few times, too. It's awful when you can't see or hear.

  • So its been three days now, how are you doing?? I'm rootin' for you!

  • I guess I should make an updated video :P It's going okay so far. I didn't end up doing two days of liquids, I did one and then decided to move to soft proteins on the second day and it seems to be working out for me.. I have lost 2 lbs in 3 days so thats decent :)

  • it's more than decent! Remember when you started this you said you'd be happy if you lost just one pound. You've already doubled that and my guess is that you will double it again. That 10 pounds will be off before you can say liquid protein!

  • good luck on your blood results. hope you feel better soon and your spirits go up!!!!!

  • how do you get a pouch test done? and why are you doing it?

  • You can totally do this!! Best wishes to you :)Amy

  • so that is what that is! i uased to get that alot as a kid but i never knew anything about it. It used to come with a slight ringing too.

  • I have that hypotension too.....its sucks never had it for more than 10 secs though

  • Even if you just lose 5 lbs... next month you can lose another 5 lbs... don't rush it... take care Laura you rock girl!

  • Duh, you just said you had it (bloodwork) done. Let us know what they found. Hang in there.

  • You should have your labs done soon. Orthostatic hypotension can be caused from anemia, or thyroid issues as well. Make sure they run a full thyroid profile to see where you are at. Good luck! You're looking great!

  • doctors suck ass bigtime in my opinion, its so hard to find one that's impartial and not trying to push you into their way of thinking ya know? good luck with the liquids, it aint fun eh?

  • Good luck on the pouch test ... I haven't tried that but I know a lot of people do.

    Dena

  • Best of luck on your new plan! I will have to take a look at that.

Oh wow, that doesn't sound pleasent. The test doesn't sound fun either. That sucks! Sorry.

  • I'm so glad you're checking in with the doctor and getting everything updated. Good luck with the pouch test!! You can do it!!!

  • YEAH, U CAN DO THIS!!! GOOD LUCK!!

  • OMG the same thing happens to me, and it's kinda scary, but it's when I get up, and only last for seconds. Weird.

  • Good luck hun, you can do it. Hope it works out well!

  • you can and will do it !!

    go girl

  • your looking good hun. I know you can lose that 10 pounds just keep plugging along and it will come off. Happy 4th. Ann

  • I really hope that it does. If I somehow manage to lose 10lbs a month for the next 4 months I'll pretty much be at goal (my goal is a little higher than most because I have to have plastics to take off a lot of skin on my legs and arms :(

  • Hope your pouch test goes well and good luck with the 10lbs! You can totally do it! Hopefully the docs will be able to figure out what's going on with your blood pressure.

  • Thanks!! and I hope so.. although this doctor didn't seem to care. it was crap... just like the doc you went to :(

  • I'm seriously starting to hate doctors...everyone is telling me they're going to doctors that don't give a shit. And it's so stupid because we didn't choose their profession for them...they did. Do you have to keep going to this doctor or can you switch?

  • oh hell.. I am going to find a new doctor that supports RNY and make them my full time doctor :)

  • Good for you! I think I will, too :)

  • OMG! I hope everything is ok Laura. I hope this dosent get any worse...Im gonna b on the lookout for this with me, as of yet no signs. Hpwever had been havcing a sharp pain in the right sideof my head/brain area tha has scared me...idk. I havent done blood work either yet, I am 4 months post op. I guess you could say I need to ge my shit tgether!!!

  • get your shit together is right! :P get your ass movin.

I don't know whats going to happen yet.. I stopped my supplements a couple of weeks ago so that this blood work will show exactly what I'm ACTUALLY deficient in.. rather than just assuming I need to take supplements for everything

as for the BP.. ugh. I wish I could fix it but from what I know about hypotension.. not a whole lot that can be done besides staying SUPER hydrated
