  • Have Herbie and Bill Laswell ever worked together? If not, they should! This is cool! Thanks for sharing.

  • @DarkAmbient93 What? You didn't know? They made three albums together in the 80s!

  • @mootbooxle And the titles are?

  • @DarkAmbient93 Future Shock, Sound-System, and Perfect Machine. Only Future Shock is great imo. The other two are fulla gimmicks, but they have their moments. :)

  • @n64wilbert

That comment is really only applicable when people AREN'T already doing that. Keep trying though.

  • @RapScallion42 I'm completely aware that vast quantity of the demo-graphical population is not engaging in those activities I've constructed that quotation for intentionally attacking little 14 year old girls musical tastes!!

  • @RapScallion42 I'm completely aware the vast majority of the demographic population is not engaging that type of activities on this computational film projection, I was intentionally attacking little 14 year old girls musical tastes when I've constructed that quotation!!

  • @n64wilbert Notice how he double posted different comments about the same thing. Both being grammatically incorrect and neither "attacking little 14 year old girls musical tastes."

  • @angrykillerpigeons The English language has a unpleasing and a confusion system of grammatical syntax. Here's a justification for that statement, why do we produce the "I" as an "E" in some words rather than sticking with one alphabetical phonology? Five centuries ago the British(and it's colonies) should have implemented accented characters in their orthography for phonological simplicity!!

  • @n64wilbert One reason is the fact that English is the bastard child of all the groups of people that have lived in the British isles at some point. That is not mentioning all the borrowed words we have supplemented into the English langauge. Also, not knowing where commas go doesn't have to do with the spelling of words. I'm just saying. Finally, I believe English, however tough to learn, is a wonderful langauge with a very cool history behind it.

  • ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

SHUT UP AND ENJOY THE MUSIC!

  • Groovy as fuck!!

  • ARSENAL! ARSENAL! ARSENAL!

  • On the 8th day the lord said "Let their be funk" and there was funk.

Human settled their establishments and groups of funk and asked the lord "Lord, do we be funky?", and the Lord answered, "you is groovy". From there on Funk was known as the medicine of the world and the cure to 'down'. Groovy Baby.

  • Paul Jackson is grooving the shit out of his bass, awesome!

  • Horrible quality, still great music!

  • My bank director back in 1979 was a very chubby white guy who had graduated NOT FROM NORTH TEXAS STATE UNIVERSITY but from University of Texas Arlington and he had a love of music. Indeed, as a small town boy from South Texas, the first time this assistant music instructor exposed me to to this music, I was totally transfixed to its wondrous, synchopated rythms. Yea, let me tell you that he designed a kind of portable sound system which had Yamaha stero equipment (receiver, equalizer, an

  • @boriscrispin The ones who have never listened it.

  • arvidddd is winning...

  • i would kill someone for disliking this sound

  • 50 people are in fact the same, confused, person who accidently created 50 different youtube accounts and accidently pressed the dislike button 50 times.

'Cause really, thats more likely than people actually disliking this awesomeness.

  • LOVE THIS SONG

  • Excellent dance track I still get packed floors when it plays

  • Does anybody have any idea what that thing is at 1:35 when he's playing the keyboard? It's the screen with the blue-ish colour. It seems too futuristic for 1974.

  • @vXAlterAlibiXv Looks like a sound board to me haha. It's definitely not a screen.

  • @vXAlterAlibiXv looks like a modular synth

  • @vXAlterAlibiXv arp 2600, blue version

  • 49 people are sax wannabe posers.......

  • quite a set up for the keys..lol i love it!

  • I'm going to pretend that the people that disliked this did it because of video quality or because they dont like the lighting because the thought of someone actively searching and listening to this song and then NOT LIKING IT frankly pisses me the fuck off.

  • Not a big jazz fan, but this is good stuff.

  • what's that..?

  • Cuts off on Herbies' solo? WTF????

  • this is my idol and ive learned with this man.very greatttt.clean jazz weird piano chords scales unlike the other jazz performer s theyre using thier speed to scape the wrong notes etc....

  • @edwinonak There are no wrong notes in this.

  • this tune gets me in the mood for fucking a MILF (Y)

  • @2Funky4me this is like the perfect rhythm

  • @AeroplanoModello Kids who listen to Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, and the Jonas Brothers, that's who.

  • hancock is a tech wiz. love this man!!

  • I hate to be an elitist jerk, but Maynard Ferguson's version blows this out of the water.

  • @Mrbiggerthanlife Herbie's jazz and Maynard's jazz are two completely different things, so it's hard to make a direct comparison. I enjoy the original, but as you can see by my username, I'm more of a big band man. So I completely agree with you, being a trumet player and Maynard lover, that Maynard's does indeed blow this out of the water.

  • @bigbandman95 Yeah, perhaps it was a bit unfair of me. I am a trumpet player too, playing a version of this for our uni jazz band :)

  • You can grab the audio-mp3 of this track at grabyourmp3s doht cohm.

  • 47 people are deaf.

  • @arvidddd go back to sweden swedenface

  • @Chameleon41 In his defense, calling him a Swedenface is probably just as racist as what the first guy said. Can't we just enjoy this awesome music that Herbie's pumping out? :D

    FK

  • @arvidddd o u mad

  • @arvidddd really really dumb, for real.

  • @Chameleon41 If I were a black man, I'd be perfectly fine with being compared to Denzel.

  • @Chameleon41 I don't think@nwaicecube213 meant harm... he just tried to be funny (but failed).

  • @nwaicecube213 lol

  • Herbie Hancock in Heidelberg - Germany 2010!! Can't wait 4 it

  • This song is awesome. Played it in jazz band last year, and it has since become the go to post-concert jam.

  • all these great players actually came from the Miles Davis School OF JAZZ!!!

  • @Sford0dude5 dude...harvey mason was TIGHT. count basie did the same with his stuff...the tunes were simple, but one note could sound like a work of genius depending on how it's played. don't knock the drum part because it LOOKS simple. c'mon :c)

  • @dayknowsalchemy Harvey Mason was on the record. Mike Clark is in this video on drums. Mike Clark who plays on Thrust, Herbies other great funk/jazz album.

  • @Advaitamusic Sorry. Should have clarified that I was TALKING about the drumming on the actual album. So effing tight.

  • @Metallicathrashsam i love this song and im so happy to play it, its so much fun

  • 74', this is before Midi/Sequencers etc, so it has to be a tape loop bass line.

Nowadays we can play about with pushing and pulling a beat at will.

This is a pioneering peice of music.
