  • tool is the shit, right behind floyd!!!, 2 of the best bands ever

  • Justin Chancellor must get so much pussy just from tapping his foot.

  • fucking amazing... !!! a no human band !

  • that thing on drums,...a godest at work man

  • no words!!!

  • Wow.. GOOOD sound quality. ;3 SO AWESOME! You don't have the rest of this concert do you? maybe somewhere at 640x480 plus pixels? :3 I'd kill to have the full recording. haha

  • what the hell is MJK throwing at the crowd?

  • 1:08 is that girl kidding? shes louder than the guitar

  • I can't wait to find a way to get this song embellished on my skin. I want to find a way to artistically express this song tho... not just the eye that I see EVERYWHERE. PS, gentlemen: Sex to this song? EPIC. WIN.

  • If there's one thing I don't like while watching Tool live, then it's fans that sing along!

  • thats maynards godly power making him turn without moving his feet

  • oh my god !! is AWESOME !!

  • daney carey 6:39

  • i wana see tool soo fucking bad

  • If i ever meet a girl willing to have sex while this song is playing, i swear to god i will propose to her on the spot

  • @LongLiveHendrix54 i dunno man... sex to TOOL? nah

  • @makkasjakkas45 well id rather fuck her to this music than some retarded black man music like lil wayne

  • @makkasjakkas45 Sex to prison sex!

  • @LongLiveHendrix54 Been there done that.

  • Personally I love this song, 9 minutes of sex to my ears, but the more I listen to It the more I think its about being at a gig and just letting go and feeling the music. Like "black and white are all I see" black and white = boring day in day out stuff, "red(violent color) and Yellow(energetic color) then came to be, let me see" like the anger and energy of being in a crowd at a concert really is a unique experience and can open your eyes, the songs saying let loose, feel the music, dont think

  • like follow the spiral, dont over analyse it, dont worry about other people think, embrace your inner desire to let loose and feel the rhythm, the wind and energy across your skin(goosebumps me thinks), just "bathe in the fountain"(the crowd) really be a part of it, "weep like a widow" really feel the emotion, cry if you want to, who cares

  • "to fathom the power, to witness the beauty," to really truly know the power and beauty of music if you let it in, \"With my feet upon the ground i move myself between the sounds & open wide to suck it in.

I feel it move across my skin."

Personally I think this song is all about being lost in the music and how we should all let lose and get totally lost in the music, cry, swing to the beat, feel it love it. and I fucking LOVE Tool. anyway tell me what you guys think.

  • @RaiderA528M This song is about spirituality and to find yourself living without boundaries and limitations. This is why they had the spiritual artist "David Grey" to work on the cover on the Lateralus album. Adam Jones and he are very tight and you can tell "Parabola" is also about letting your spirit inside let loose, same goes for "Third eye", which comes from Buddism. But nobody says you can't like Tool just because you don't understand the deep meaning in the lyrics.

  • @neger88 It's actually Alex Grey, not David Grey, that produced the album artwork. Without a doubt one of the greatest psychedelic artist of all time.

  • seeing them on the 12th. Cant fucking wait.

  • tool makes my panties wet

  • cant wait to see them in Sacramento on july 13th, im gunna jizz my pants twice in a row. literally. and perhaps trip some balls with a lil acid with my best buds, what do you all think!

  • did anyone noticed the wrong that Adams did on 4:23 ????? dont get me wrong ! I LOVE Tool !! Just noticed and wanted to tell .....

  • shiiiiiiiiiit maynard looks like some faceless creature that crawled out from the depths of hell lol.

  • The drumming is perfection.

  • Love that spiral part. Going to see them in 25 days; can't fuckin wait. hope they jam on some new stuff but either way, it will be phenomenal

  • @Lateralus8808 Fuck yes sir. Going to see them at Red Rocks on the 29th of June. Got row 27 on a complete luck shot sale morning. Best band ever....

  • MJK doesn't sing, he gets possessed by angels; he is the vessel for their message.

  • Everybody in GA is trippin BALLS!

  • there music is cleanseing like having a spiritual and mental shower in ice cold water..

  • why is there a big star of david hanging over the stage

  • @EgagLatsev there is 7 points not 6

  • @EgagLatsev thats not a star of David

  • One of the greatest live bands to walk the planet!

  • @sonictim1972 best would be alice in chains i think every song they have ever played was perfectly played

  • how can EVERY tool song be so infinitely badass and so creative and somehow each song has a million meanings that can be applied to anything WHAT THE FUCK IS BLOWS MY MIND JUST THINKING ABOUT IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GODAMMIT THESE ARE FOUR MAGNIFICIENT SONS 'A BITCHES. not one of their compositions is any filler, no "halfassery" AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

  • @sickswunsolja actually tool has alot of shitty songs, and maynard said one time they do use just random lyrics that have no deeper meaning at all sometimes just to get the song, but the songs like this one make tool one of the best bands in my opinion

  • After seeing them live I also was changed... I stopped drinking, stopped smoking and I started reading. Im now a Philosopher and a Bassist. Amazing

  • good on ya dude. just keep riding the spiral out, whatever bewilders you!!!!!!!!!!

  • Seeing this song live... changed me.

    FUCKING. INCREDIBLE.

  • This song has more to do with concentric circles that exist within society and the earth, rather than expanding outwards.

It's both about looking out and in.

It confuses me sometimes that Maynards views reflect that of the oTo or the Masons, when the masons and government figures are using this ideology to pursue godhood, rather than ascension for all.

  • this song is impressive, the use of the fibonacci sequence in it, the reference to spiraling out as a metaphor for growing as an individual or whatever u want to apply it to, the eastern philosophical term of "as above, so below", even the progression of seeing colors in the verse being about progression of sight in our lives/possible art history meaning of the evolvement of art techniques in aborigines, which again plays on the theme of growing and spiraling out. its all amazing

  • all i can say is " when my feet upon the ground i loose myself between the sound"

  • I couldn't possibly put into words how every aspect of this amazingly beautiful song makes me feel! I just feel as though i could slip into the gaps of this bullshit "reality" we call life and fall deep into the unknown and hold onto the random as i grasp the spiral and ride it to the end! i dont want to feel anything else other then what is and what will be.

  • you just put it into words. kudos

  • But dude! you're missing the point of the song! It's not about putting up with reality or 'life', it's about embracing it, and making the most out of it. That's what the spiral represents; life.

  • This is it, this is the end of the road, theres nothing better to come.

  • tool's best song? 1 word. ALL

  • TOOL set the standard for METAL, and will for years too come. TOOL rule.!

  • Is is Progressive rock.. But yes Tool rule, and will do that forever!

  • Amazing song Amazing band

  • I've came in my pants many a time listening to Tool.

  • You don't get any more creative AND origional than these bad mother fuckers right here. They have the best concept of what a band is. It's musicians bringing their own sounds to gether and making something amazing, not musicans who change their sounds to resemble something they've heard. Tool is amazing

  • well said.

  • I have to agree and add that what makes Tool so great is that each individual band member is their own musician. Even the drummer.

They found a sound that was their own which they created through cooperative musicianship.

  • It took Danny Carey a while to get back into that odd groove towards the end of the song when the crowd started screaming.

  • This the most emotional tool song for me. But i can't say any favorites. But this one is defanitely on the top 5.

  • yea, this is the most emotional tool song for me too. especially during the quiet bridge. "swing on the spiral of, our divinity and still be a humaaaaaannn....." I fuckin love that part.

  • i love how Maynard doesn't even look at the crowd, great stuff.

  • tool is sick

  • 8:50 epic throw xD

  • its way too hard to pick a favorite TOOL song

    they are all masterpieces

  • My favourite Song

  • yay mars volta

  • lol does MJk go bare foot

  • Why yes...Yes he does.

I always though danny did too, but I think only MJK has the ability to.

  • are you new here?

  • I don't need drugs to enjoy this...just to enhance it!

  • Jeez man, Tool is just one of the best bands ever done.

Fuck the haters, who obviously have no idea how to treat REAL music other than that pop shit on mainstream radio these days.

Maynard knows how to write awesome lyrics with an INTELLIGENT meaning. That hypnotic guitar and haunting bass is just brilliant put together. And who can forget Danny on drums?

Tool is definitely the Pink Floyd of our generation. I can't wait to see their next show!

  • dude, you just totally made my day.

  • i love you hahaha

  • could not agree with that statement any more.......tool is fuckin amazing

  • pretty much their best song.

  • Hypnotizing. Best TOOL song:-)

  • Perfect!

  • This is magnificence!

  • It's really quite amazing how far the band has come since "Opiate" in terms of musical complexity.

  • opiate was still pretty fuckin heavy tho

  • you know that part in 0: 00 - 9: 57 where they're kicking ass? i love that part man...

  • I know its so Epic

  • @slayerm0m

I live the cut of your jib.

To the dude who says tool has a lot of shitty songs, fuck your mother.

  • @slayerm0m dont forget 9:58

  • best song in my opinion

  • Love JC.

  • its actually magmun opus,if you are going to steal someone elses words you should at least use the proper terminology, and if you do a little reading, you will find that THE GRUDGE is actually the magnum opus of the album, literally

  • Schism, Parabol/Parabola, Lateralus, Ticks & Leeches, take your pick, their Magnum Opus is totally subjective, dont throw your opinion out as if its a fact.

  • the grudge is my favorite opening to all tool albums

  • my 2 favorites as well

  • Last 3 times I saw this live... I saved a joint for this song.

Needless to say... I did not regret it.

  • That's a good use of joint.

  • exeptional use of a joint

  • dare i say, a near perfect use of a joint

  • next time though, try that joint with some acid, and a side of x and then you will be blown away.

  • They're so good live.

  • It sucked because I was just getting into tool when they passed my area last tour.

  • the drumming from 4.50 is especially epic

  • maynards humping danny set in the begining

this song is sooo fucking grand live, danny and tomas haak frum meshuggah had a drum battle in the middle of this song wen i went to gosee them

  • nice record!

  • tool is definitely my favorite band i love them so much i will see them live as many times as i can

  • this is the shit.. this is the way that music would sound like... HATE/LOVE LIKE/NOT...

  • This Just has to be one of the Greatest songs ever made especially live. This was prolly their best performed song when I saw them....Well All of their songs were awesome...TOOL=Fucking BEST BAND EVER.

  • is it me or does the sound at RC just fucking sound awesome, would love to go to a concert there.

  • anyone have any idea if theyll be touring again sometime soon??

  • they're working on their new album as of now, so they said after they finish writing that they're going to have their own tour and not just play at festivals.

  • they had their own tour, i saw them at a registered tool concert

  • oh i know they've been playing their own tours. but they've also played a lot of festivals.

  • i need to listen to this track with some acid

  • My friends did that, and fuck they had a great time!

  • why did i get negative feedback ? i was only trying to elaborately say how into Tool I am.. how much they make you think and as a drummer Danney Carey is one my biggest influences alongside other great prog drummers like Virgil Donati from Planet X, Gavin Harrison from Porcupine Tree, Neil Peart from Rush and Mike P from DT.. 3 thumbs down !! oh the injustice.. haha.. I still Love Tool and at least once a day have to listen to this track !

  • Tool is an Acid trip in itself.. and i love it

  • when listening to this song it makes me realise that snakes have no balls. There are cats on tredmills under the roads with their eyes poking out. Ice cream is most likely cow piss. The government are actors in a musical stage production of Josephs' Techni-coloured dream coat and I am infact already dead. I love tool. They are immense!

  • you are quite the wordsmith.

    you're on the team.

    tool fix me.

    (lol metaphore)

  • hahaha

  • I saw them at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton in July 07 and this served as the climax of the show. It was three minutes longer, though, with Danny's... inhuman drum solo. Definitely the highlight of their performance.

  • i would give my left leg to be there..fuck it both my legs.

  • I was there best night ever!

  • Ace.

This songs makes me wanna form an army and conquer the whole universe.

  • Whoa whoah1988, that is a new take on the expirience, violent overthrow of the universe huh? Well then.

    LOL

  • A subtle Army of course. What I mean is, that this song makes me think anything is possible, even the nonsens I spitted out some days ago, ghehe.

    U wanna join my force?

    Whoa m8!

  • Any Army to defeat the powers of the Universe can only be constructed of the beings that created it; Cats. Stare into the eyes of a cat and teh galaxy will be explained in it's infinite wisdom. My brother, if you are willing to escape the monotony and follow me into the 'lions den' we shall over throw the forces of the universe and forever unite spatial boundaries! OR LETS JUST TURN THE VOLUME UP AND JAM!

  • Amen Brother!

  • lol!! dude...what are you on...??!!!

  • this song, nae, this whole album re-aligns my chi. it makes me feel healed in some way. its too spiritual to ignore.

  • agreed my friend, and well put.

  • swing on the spiral of our divinity and still be a human, man thats power on words

  • Instant raging boner.

  • youre not alone.

    Insta-Chubby!

  • Spiral out, just keep going!!!!!! this song puts me in a different realm of existence man!

  • So much power in their live performances. 4:25-4:34 is utterly chilling as he explodes lyrically for the crowd.

    Rock on.

  • this video cuts off at 7:57 for me, anybody know what's wrong?

  • "We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one's been".

  • wow. holy shit. how the fuck were people sitting at that show?!?!!?!

maynard isn't human. i didn't see any human attributes when he was performing there, he reminded of one of the characters in their video's. wow..i can't decide where the voice comes from, cuz that thing with the mic wasn't human.

  • I was at this show. Sixth row center. You probably can't tell by this video, but Maynard was painted up like the "Lateralus man" in day glo paint, from head to toe.

  • love it when maynard slams the mic down at the end. best band on the planet by an absoulute mile.

  • i think its pretty crazy how the 10000 days eye theme is in the back ground of a lateralus tour...how long have they been planning that album?

  • no man i can see where ur comnig from with the eyes ... those are from alex grey's painting called "dying" ... they're pretty sick i've got them tattooed on my arm

  • tool rules

  • TOOL ALL THE WAY

  • Great post-very good sound and visuals. But like others have said,it still doesn't touch how they really are live.I've seen them 3 times, each show better than the last.I've been to alot of concerts, and the last time was far and away the best ever, with lateralus being the best performance ever.MINDBLOWING.

  • there is no way to capture the energy of tool in live footage.

  • I agree 110%. It's hard to listen to their CD after hearing them live there's so much energy at the shows, it's incredible.

  • this must have been their last song that night.

  • I swear to god, it must take 20 minuites to edit and fine proof a Tool album in the studio. That shit was CD quality.

Props to Maynard, best singer on the planet.

  • this song is the most amazing song i ever heard...i saw them live on july 9 in hamilton and it was spectacular!

  • mmm goosebumps

  • Perfect sound, love this song so much....

  • Great footage, and sound, one of the best if not best live lateralus videos on here

  • so awesome musically and lyrically

  • I was at this show and I almost shit my pants as well. I'm 32 and have been to a lot of concerts and this is by far and away the best show I've been seen. I'll be in Jersey in 2 weeks but really waiting to see if they do another show here to end this tour as well.

  • I'm speechless over this song. One of my favorite Tool songs ever

  • Fuck yeah. Well said.

  • i love how creepy maynard looks. and in the end when he just stands there and looks at the crowd. a lesser man would have thrown his arms in the air in triumph

  • I fucking agree man.

  • i love tool videos... they are really disconnected from reality but they represent feelings and reality at the same time...

  • What does Maynard throws in the audience at the end? A water bottle?

  • He Slams his microphone to the ground.

  • Everything about Tool rules, if you dont like the artwork your not a real fan

  • best song ever. period.

  • dude is maynard in a speedo?!

  • More often then not, too. Maynard most often ends up in just speedo's. except the new tour, he stayed in his jeans through the whole show.

  • yea i saw them on their new tour

  • music's AWESOMe

artwork is creepy, i hate it

  • The artwork is amazing...what are you talking about lol. I wish I was at this concert just because the backdrop was so awesome looking.

  • it was phenominal. the cresendo and finish of the show blew me away

  • dude the backdrop was so cool when i saw them i almost shit my pants

  • on a side not, the backdrop is awesome

  • Oh my gawd, is Adam actually walking around while playing?

...And all this time I thought he was actually a mechan ical mannequin.

  • maynard is a cr
