  • wow at 2:05 what a note

  • One youtuber is a republican or has a total lack of musical appreciation. Or both, God forbid.

  • Yes, God Save Our Queen.. What an extraordinary piece of music..

  • 4:24 Her Majesty's cough.

  • @EruAquila Lmao!

  • So Let's Enjoy!!!

  • god save the queen!

  • 1:22 THE CHAMPIONS!

  • I hope to see a coronation in my life and with all the rites and ceremonies included in the broadcast. Media has come a long way since the Queen ascended the throne so I don't think anything would be considered "Too sacred" to be broadcast now. The various camera positions that were in the Abbey during Prince William's wedding if utilized again would only give greater honor and clarity to the historic event.

  • @gramps2matt

QE2 turns 86 in april, Charles 64 in november. A guess of mine: you'll see 2 coronations in your life.

  • breath taken piece of art

  • U forgot to mention too that the stone at occupied the coronation chair was returned to Scotland some years ago . The anointing of a King or Queen is sacred and this part of the coronation serivce should remain private.

  • I always feel really cheated on these choral numbers on youtube. The thunderous organ comes in at the end ( 4:52 ) and the film always stops there. Always so disappointing...

With all that said, absolutely loved it!

  • This played when I was born

  • That's one hell of a sword that guy is having there

  • AmAZING! Can I have this played at my birthday and Funeral

  • @GoteeDevotee

A lot of people will rejoyce ? :) For funeral: definetely not.

  • @GoteeDevotee

It was a "no" for funeral. But of course it's your funeral then. Nobody will shout "God save the King" at MY funeral, because it's not appropriate at all. Hmm ?

Zadok is not about cycle of life and deaths or even birthdays. Was not intended to be.

  • @rivenoak Oh OK I understand now, I ignored that bit. I was using a bit of mortal licence. I see where you are coming from. my humble apologies.

  • WOW MERAVIGLIOSO! PAGHEREI PER ASCOLTARE UN CORO COSI MERAVIGLIOSO COMPOSTO DA VOCI BIANKE FALSETTISTI E VOCI REALI BRAVISSIMI!!!!!!!!

  • Long live the Queen!

  • i can't stop crying:))))))oh my God!! this is an incredible performance:)))

  • shivers down my spine. So good!

  • One youtuber is tone deaf, if not downright mentally retarded.

  • I can't help but listen to 0:58 over and over again. This is as beautiful as harmonies get.

  • Glorious.

  • I sang it last year ! :)

  • Message for Jennifer Lopez and the like: This is REAL music. When you can sing like this I'll buy one of your songs.

  • What an epic intro my goodness!

  • @CorporalChris Another example of civil disobedience plaguing a white country

  • I've sung this song once.. still my favorite after all this time:)

  • british public school haircuts at their best lol

  • Love this!

  • This is are the lyrics: Zadok the Priest and Nathan the Prophet anointed Solomon King. And all the people rejoic'd, and said: "God save The King, long live The King, may The King live for ever! Amen, Hallelujah!"

    (Da Libri dei Re, 1:38–40).

  • I like it when the commentator shuts up

  • @themightyrara it is even worse during powerful moments like Remembrance Sunday, Trooping the Colour etc. They go on and on.

  • @themightyrara AGREE!!!

  • long live the queen!

  • I am proud to be a christian!

  • @ebreandhil So am I , but what has that to do with this?

  • @nodamnuse

It has do do with this, taht we have so beautiful service and christian art. that's all..

  • @nodamnuse The song is about Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and King Solomon.

  • This should stand as the anthem / requiem for the lost Aspirational England that took 1000 years to make and 40 years for utterly inept, gas-filled politicains and pea-brained social engineers to break.

  • anyway: God save the Queen!

  • @CorporalChris hear hear!!

  • I agree the all male voices can not be matched by choirs with ladies on this great piece of music.

  • no its known as the Champions League theme :)

  • One word: "Epic".

  • @visualice

    No. :)

But only because the maundy service is nothing compared to the "real" event the anthem was composed for.

Dunno we will see the anoinment of the next king, because the anointment of QE2 was NOT broadcasted. Probably we will miss Zadok in all its glory next time too and have to imagine the scene.

  • @rivenoak - the annointing itself was not shown during the coronation broadcast because it was considered too sacred. But then this music was not meant to be played during the sovereign's actual annointing. It should be played as the monarch is PREPARED for the annointing and so Zadok the Priest WAS broadcast live during the current Queen's coronation - and presumably will be broadcast during the next one too.

  • This is just how it should be sung, and why it sounds so great in this version.Handel wrote the anthem with the Choristers of Westminster Abbey, and the Chapels Royal of Hampton Court/St James in mind.

These are all male choirs, which is what Handel's composition dynamics call for in this anthem.

I don't say that modern choirs(including female voices) don't sound good too, only that this is how one would have heard it at the coronation of George II.

  • Wonderful!!!

  • how can my he is polynesian

  • Great! I was wondering if anyone knew what the tune begining at 4:54 was??

  • @HRHStewartIIRegina the beginning? its part of Zadok the Priest! its like a long period of contemplation until you shout "Eureka!" :P

  • Sounds fantastic! The choir as well as the accompaniment organist sounds awesome! Thank you.

  • This is one of the best Handel songs, absolutely beuatiful to hear the sounds fron the Choirs.

Thank you Drwestbury you are an inspiration.

  • A wonderful video as always, drwestbury. Thank you so much for posting it!

  • amazing !!!

  • Thank you for this. What a joy to sing— and sung so lively here by Westminster Abbey and the Chapel Royal choristers. Can't wait to hear what they've been preparing for the upcoming wedding.

  • One of Handel's greatest. A beautiful piece well chosen by the Queen. I watched the service on television and can only praise Her Majesty for choosing this. Most of the rest of the music was underwhelming and this made it so much better!

  • My favourite piece by Handle! Thanks for uploading :)
