love all of your videos, I saw them all and still enjoying them, don't listen to the internet guys :)
a question though, I have a nikon d90 with a macro lens and I'm having trouble with the shallow depth of feild (I use it for dentistry), do you suggest that I use a normal lens instead or is there something I should try?
Do you use it for inside the mouth? You may first want to try bringing up the F stop to 11 or above, (may require bringing up the iso to 1600 or more. If that does not work then I would try the normal month. What lens do you have now.
@jonvideo I use it for inside the mouth but I have an amazing flash ring so lighting isn't a problem I guess, I'm not sure what the macro lens I'm using is named (i'll make sure to let you know) , so basically bringing up the F stop (reducing the aperture from the aperture priority mode) should help me out, right?
my only problem here is the when I focus on a tooth the side part of the same tooth is blurred, let alone the lips.
Yes, that should solve your problem, unless the lens is permanently set for low depth of field and I don't know if that is the case based on the current information. As you know , It will cost you nothing to try the f stop number increase, so that is where i would go first before exploring other lenses.
thankyou you very much grt video dont pay heed to the losers who are criticising the video . the video rocks and more importantly helps would like to request you to explain how to change different setting like aperture , focal length etc etc plz mail me the link on arvindsoorada@gmail.com ... tc and happy clicking
Thanks, that is nice to hear,, Some people just feel the need to feel better about themselves by putting others down, Sad that its people that fashion themselves a photographer.
Where do I see the videos of you going into more detail about the different functions? I'm particularly interested in info on metering (ex. brides' white wedding dress), focus lock and exposure lock, and flash and exposure compensation. I can't afford to purchase anything right now, but I love your videos that I've watched so far, and want to see more. You have an easy way of explaining things. Thank you.
Does the flash compensation button affect the flash output of an add-on flash like a speedlight, or does it just affect on built-in flash on the camera?
Does the flash compensation button affect the flash output of an add-on flash like a speedlight, or does it just affect on built-in flash on the camera?
@klakfi it affects any flash attached to the camera. it controls the built-in flash when you don't have an external flash on the hotshoe, and the external speedlite when turned on and attached to your camera. also the settings that you can choose with the flash button on the side of the camera (SLOW, Red Eye, Rear Curtain sync, etc) controls any flash that you use with the camera (external or built-in)
hey bro the mic is on the top right front face beside the flash button, the one you show us was the speaker for video playback, this is a great cam actually i owned one...:-)
You are not an idiot. You are a very smart and gifted person who made a simple mistake. I enjoy learning from your videos. Thank You. I think the real Idiot here is psmedkiler. Who felt not only the need to point out a mistake, but to use a derogatory term in order to do so. I hope psmedkiler NEVER makes any mistakes in his daily life for fear someone might use a much stronger term to describe him....I can think of a few right now!
Yes you are right on both counts, I got it backwards as I was yapping away, and I admit I am in idiot. Earlier in the comments back a few pages, I made mention of this but not lately and I am even more of an idiot in that I did not post a tag on the video showing this to be my mistake. My dad used to call me an idiot growing up and now I am starting to believe him, So sorry again for my mistakes.
@jonvideo if idiot means HUMAN then we all are...thanks for the video...I would say water on a ducks back for the rude comments. Some people think they are FLAWLESS...but what they don't realize is that they will reap what they have sown. :)
I have a Nikon F40 (manual not digital) with a 28-80mm lens, this other lens which is 70-300mm and a light! (the one that you attach at the top).
My parents are planning to get me a Nikon D90 for Christmas and I wanted to know if I'd be able to use the 70-300mm lens, 28-80mm lens AND the light even though the Nikon F40 isn't digital and the Nikon D90 is.
I'm sure you can read the manual, but there is something about a walkaround that gives your eyes a rest at making it more fun and goes faster. The same reason we go to movies instead of just reading the book. And this is free.
live view botton most of the time is lock on me can you tell me the solution two the problem please? happen on auto mode only and how do you white balance and in what mode?
This is too much detail to type for both of these. Get the DVDs at our elitevideo website, I will give you your money back and keep in the dvds if you can't afford it, just too much to go into in words.
@jackbratface you should buy a remote controller. ın bulb mode the remote opens the shutter on first press and closes it on the second one. u can keep the shutter as long as you want in that way.
Where can I learn more about the Fn and BKT buttons? You mention that you will get into it later, but it is obviously not in this video. And I would like to know what those buttons do.
my friends new D90 suddenly stopped taking pictures today
heres what happened..
the camera turned on but i could not take any pictures with it at all..............it was not focusing..............or clicking....................only the auto focus lights in the viewfinder were flashing on half depressio......
you said that the microphone grill was on the side of the cam, but i beleive that that is the speaker, the mic is on the front just above the d90 emblem
I got a problem with my D90. I am trying to take pictures but nothing happens and on the upper right of the camera, on the little screen it shows me an F--. What does that even mean? I am not really familiar with the camera. Please somebody help me. I love this camera and I really want it to take photos. Thank you
@lubenitza2004 dude i had the same problem. I was shitting my pant but its nothing serious try and check your lens. The lens got a little play try and turn it clockwise all the way. God luck.
Just wanted to say "THANKS"! I've been a Educator for 25 years and it's always a pleasure to run into another professional. Your video was most helpful and your manner of instruction was terrific. Again, my thanks. ~ Ray
Question: when I use 'auto iso' in 'P' mode, the word 'auto' flashes continuosly - is it supposed to? (kinda irritating) The iso values seem to change correctly, but the word is always flashing...
it works great for me...i just got got back from ST. Maarten and it took great pictures of the airplanes..and they were 135 kts(no blurriness) so it should do great for motor sports...It also can take up to 5 min video's before it needs to cool down....but to take video you have to focus it whenever your subject moves..I f you have any other questions let me know and i will help you the best i can.
OMFG, PLEASE lose the intro musac!

Try these 4 things one at a time and see which one solves it.
Take the battery out for about 10 minutes and put it back in.
Make sure you have a card in the camera and eject in and put it back in again
Take the lens off and put it back on making sure it clicks on.
if none of these works then
Reinstal the latest firmware
That doesnt work, post back here and we can try other things
jonvideo 1 year ago
