@marionetemanJ Look, I know your free to express your beliefs but please don't do it here. A lot of people aren't christian including me, so don't come to how to paint gunpla and try to sell us something we don't believe in. Your fine to do it on some christian god is boss video, but lets keep Gundam and god seperate, okay? Thanks.
However The marionetemanJ's message was deleted for "spamming", becouse regardless of the religious beliefs of each of us, this has not and must not have any connection to this video and hobbies.
The song is "Top wo Nerae! ~Fly High~" by Noriko Hidaka and Rei Sakuma. It was never used as an opening theme for Gunbuster; rather, it was used during the Gunbuster battle on episode 5.
A normal painting would ask a bit of suitable thinner for the color in use, but in this case I am using a technique only for small shades on edges. So, nothing in that bowl, only color and dry brush. ;)
For enamel paints (ex. Humbrol) the common white spirit, while for acrylic paint (ex. Tamiya) the alcohol. Surely it is always better to use the thinner of the same brand, but it is much more expensive.
Here, I am making the technique of the dry brush. It works only for the highlighting and it must be applied little by little in order to give a light effect... it doesn't need to paint the whole surface of the piece.
Then, for this example, the red piece will only have slightly of the faded edges in a clearer tonality as the orange.
Best way to answer you question is deeper research. Have a look at a few modeling forums. Fitchen Foo and Bakuc froums have a lot of info on that topic...
Hey quick question. Im planing on giving one of my exia's a custom S.W.A.T paint job with a spray gun. but i am a little hesatent because i want to make some parts s darker black than others for a more detailed look, and give it a gloss. Then im going to stencel S.W.A.T on the shield. Any sugestions on how to get the job done? And any one know were i can find a light up GN drive, eyes and the green things on the exia or 00? if so plz tell, (must be in calgary or online)
If i want to color a clear/transparent parts by using Tamiya Arcrylic paints, does the clear parts looks clear but in colours too when i finish color it?
You can use the TAMIYA MASKING TAPE to cover and to pass the clear transparent only on the interested part. Later you cover vice versa the shiny part in order to pass an opaque or semi gloss transparent on the rest.
By the way for everybody: PLEASE, ONLY SHORT COMMENTS IN TOPIC FOR EACH VIDEO.
You can also paint some details with little brush and Humbrol enamel or Tamiya acrylic bottles. Instead in order to paint ampler surfaces or the whole model it is better to use an airbrush. But, before the painting, you should follow all the phases of the classical modelling (building, glue, putty, sandpaper etc.). We don't succeed in explaining all these long procedures in English, sorry. You can try to look for some tutorials on google.
Hey, I do have a question, So you use a pure dry brush and geta light amount of paint on it? I don't own an airbrush and am arley starting gunpla and i do not know hot to paint them and make them look 5/5 stars in paint/detail and i really don't want to mees up, help me?
The whole painting work with only paintbrushes is very hard, it needs high skill level.
If you have not an airbrush, you can use the cans of spray paint extremely useful for painting large surfaces (for ex. Tamiya spray paint). Then, with paintbrushes you can do the details, small parts and shades. By combining of spray paints and bottle paint with paintbrushes, the decoration of the plastic models will become simpler and more effective.
So to a begginer you wouldn't reccomend using all brush? So I should get spray pain, then spray the whole thing one color, Then if i had to paint the trim around a sheild of some sort? Sorry, the painting is the only part im concerned with gundam models considering i want to do the 1/144 scale which NEED paint. plz help again lol
Well, for example: if you have a shield to paint red with white edge, you had to begin spraying the white color. Then, let it dry completely and with the masking tape Tamiya (or any adhesive paper tape) cover with precision only the white edge. So, you can spray the red above the whole piece. Let it dry again and finally remove the masking tape with careful. While for the small parts you can also use the paintbrush, remember to help yourself with masking tape. Done! ;)
To paint a model kit can be demanding, but it is not impossible. Try to search some modelling tutorial step by step, then with experience you will be also more quick. ;)
Are you in San Francisco? There, does not exist any Hobby and Model Shop with acrylic and enamels colors? Does you not find famous brand such as Gunze, Revell, Tamiya, Humbrol, Lifecolor, Vallejo? It is impossible...
You can also try to search in a wargames shop (like Warhammer)...
Otherwise, go to google and search some online shop. For example, do you know Hobbyfan shop (5835 Doyle St, Suite 107 Emeryville, CA 94608)?
It doesn't mean anything if you work SD gunpla or another.
The main point is that the brush is proportionate to the part to color. It has to be enough small to color only the edges and small details.
However, if You don't like the "dirty" effect of drybrush, You can make a similar effect with airbrush. For example on a piece that had to be white, You can spray first the black on all the edges and later to spray the white on the rest fading near the edges so that a bit black remains. ;)
i have been painting my gunpla model with dry brush for a while but it often turn out to be messy/crap u got any advice for me when i using dry brush?
It would need more explanation...Anyway, before to do it, a good advice is to protect your model with a transparent varnish, then the brush must be very dry with a bit color. If the effect seems too strong, you can repeat the technique with the background color to correct the mistake. Good work! Bye! ^^

PrivateSetsuna 2 years ago
Thinner 50 or 70%...You have to make some tries until milky density and a good spray with airbrush and compressor on 1.3 bar pressure.

It seems like your using a very thin application of paint is that to avoid clumping or do you just do alot of paint coats?
