i was at a david concert in 2008 too and have seen mark last week for the 1st time. have no idea bout the reason for the split... but i think they are going different ways musically to achieve their own sound and complete their own visions of how a song should be.

quite logic, that they sound familiar... they grew up together, had the same roots and influences. but i dont think that we knopfler/DS fans should ask all the time for a reunion. they both sound great. hope the brothers getalong well

Maybe David doesn't realize he still has an unconscious influence from having played with Mark so long in their youth. Brothers, c'mon, hug, shake, make up. This amount of time is ridiculous. We love you both. You were both wrong. Isn't that human?
