  • chek it theres only one record that troy has that ed dnt have. and this record puts troy way over ed.. RINGS baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so fuk wut anybody say thats the recod ed mr reed dnt hve thats y troy is the best case closed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You pp kill me bottom line who cares ones a fs the other a ss two different positions requiring to different roles on the field one is supposed to be run support (Troy) the other a secondary spy (Ed) so to answer the question you would be lucky to score either one on ur team if you never played defense you want understand they playing to completely different schemes out there so to get it you would have to reverse their roles to see who is a better player

  • both these guys WILL BE NAMED in the Top 10. In the Top 100 players of 2011. WHY Compare?both great at THEIR position.Ed Reed a Ball Hawk and great return FS..and Troy a 100 mile in hour to the ball SS, who also has good ball skills. The only thing I compare is WHEN the play each other.Troy Polamalu has returned a pick to take his team to the Super Bowl and EVEN last year he stripped sacked Flacco to win the Div Title. while Ed is a non factor because ward puts him on his ass.both great players

  • How many rings doesnt matter at all in judging a player, (dan Marino never had one but Trent dilfer does and Marino is 100x better)

  • @captainbannana69 i love how everyone ignores the entire video where I talk about how comparable the two are and focus on the end... which was an intentional stab at Ravens fans, I am still a Steelers fan afterall... try getting a sense of humor

  • @chuckhowe yeah haha it was so funny that u showed a clip of the steelers taking away the ravens super bowl chances!.....dick wad i'm not going to have a sense of humor about that

  • @captainbannana69 you should... but that is probably why you sound like a poor sport...

  • @wrubleski that is a good point but the dynamics of each of these players is way different. Pittsburgh's cornerbacks are very weak so they are thrown at much more than Polamalu is and he plays close to the line most of the time to act as the last line of the defense for the run, so he is not always available for pass defense.

  • reed stats>polamalu stats nuff said

  • @20Baltimore52 Troy P. kills Ravens every time, nuff said (check out week 13 2010 Steelers vs Ravens)

  • @daheat0627 ok and reed kills all teams every time...hinting how much better his stats r

  • @20Baltimore52 lol..you're a true idiot --what has Ed Reed EVER done against the Steelers?? NOTHING!!! that's what. Troy kills the Ravens --how many times has he made Joe Flacco look like an idiot? Ed Reed plays Safety, in which he is in the BEST position on the field to make an INT. So, of course he is going to come up with some INT's. But really, look who they are against...teams like Browns,Bengals,Cheifs,Jax, lol Gimme a break man --i could INT those QB's too

  • @daheat0627 so ur saying reed isnt that good cause of the quarterbacks he plays againts? thats funny seeing how polamalu is in the same DAMN DIVISION! idiot, and u must be better than troy cause he has about 30 less pics than reed...and almost 1000 less return yds, less FF, less touchdowns, less blocked punts, less pro bowls, less pass deflections...what does troy have that reed doesnt...that makes HIM a better player? rings are a team acheivement so good luck saying that

  • @20Baltimore52 .. Ed Reed just INT'd Kevin Kolb ROTFFLMAO ---he must be the best ever lmaooo .... Troy Polamalu makes Baltimore (Flacco) look like a fuckin amateur ---about twice a year on average --I never see Ed Reed getting the best of Big Ben --and Big Ben is in his division --in fact, Big Ben owns it!!

  • wow, because polamalu has played in and won more superbowls then ed reed makes him a better player and safety??? LOL Geez ppl rele are retarded!!! Sounds like a reach because of lack of reasoning to say whom is better then the other!! I can name a lot of players who've been on championship teams who arent anybody! I guess if i use that reasoning i can justify saying that david givens is better then randy moss.... what? he won a championship.... LOL SMH!!! RETARDS!!!!

  • @jordan5221 well, when i compare the 2 --i actually go by-how well they play under pressure, in do-or-die situations, how much the demand respect in their division (in which ed and troy are in the same div.) Troy INT'S people like Phil Rivers,Joe Flacco,Mannings (both) --a couple plays later he is jumping over the pile before snap to sack the QB...Troy is "Clutch" you can count on him when you need a big play....where wass Ed Reed when Big Ben shoved that ball up Baltimore ass in the playoffs?

  • @jordan5221 Dude threw it almost 60 yards...if Ed Reed is as good as everyone likes to say --where is he in games like that one, do you think Joe Flacco would've been able to toss a ball down 60 yards and not have Troy P back to at least swat the ball down? --- that's how I rate them, Ed can have all the fancy numbers --i'll take Troy cause 9 out of 10 times -he will win the game-- (look at week 13 in Baltimore 2010 season)

  • admitting that Roethlisberger eats are asses up most of the time and is a damn good clutch QB. The only ppl who rele believe (or at least just shoot there mouth like they rele believe it) that polamalu is better then reed are a**hole steeler fans because they have too much "pride" i guess to give someone other then someone from there cruddy ass rathole of a city credit!!!

  • Ed reed had no picks which were game changing or decisive? Are you f**kin stupid? Wow this debate over who is better is just retarded..... both are great safeties and overall great ball players but to think for a second that polamalu is better is jus silly, nobody plays the game of safety and is more feared by the passer then ed reed. Anyone who rele knows football knows this! Im a ravens fan but trust me if polamalu was better id have no problem admitting it jus like i have no problem.......

  • MAN FUCKKK ED REED!!! MY USO POLAMALU IS WAY BETTER!!! HE GOT 2RINGS ND PLAY'd IN 3SUPER BOWLS...STATS DON'T MATTER DUMB FUCK!! ITS ABOUT HOW THEY PLAY...SO TELL ME WHY ED REEED DOESNT HAVE A RING? PLUS HE GOT A FUTURE HALL OF FAME LB REY LEWIS! NO EXCUSES U IDIOT!!! SE UFAAAAA....

  • @wrubleski i feel you... i'm not trying to disrespect Ed... I actually like him despite the fact that he's a Raven. He always seems very humble and classy to me.

My point is, that when you look at the rate at which these two men accrue these statistics, they are almost even in most categories. Troy accrues tackles at a higher rate and Ed accrues interceptions at a higher rate... everything else is nearly even (forced fumbles, fumble recoveries, passes defensed, etc...)

  • @wrubleski and as I have said from day one... they're very comparable.

and defensive TDs is only one statistical category. It is probably the most exciting defensive statistic, but that is hardly the sole reason to make your whole argument off of...

  • Heres an opinion 4m an unbiased Samoan.I believe Ed Reed is better than Polamalu at both zone and man covergae and also on reading the play. But history points out that Troy P has had more game changing/game winning/clutch (etc.) plays than Ed Reed.I understand Ed Reed has had more picks or what not but only very few were decisive and I think none were game winning. So it's a hard pick for people but I do agree with u that Ed is more consistent but Troy is unpredictable and is a gr8 playmaker.

  • @wrubleski and I'm pretty sure the guy that had Jennings as an assignment is responsible for the TDs... Troy was the help over the top.

  • @chuckhowe Troy is a safety, he is supposed to stop the td even if he wasn't the guy assigned to Jennings.

  • @wrubleski by the same logic, Ed Reed is inconsistent...

Look at the entirety of Troy's playoff stats... they tell a different story. And then keep in mind that he was robbed of a playoff INT against Indy in 2005 by a wrongly overturned replay.

Troy has also been robbed of a fumble return for a TD in 2005... so really he should have 4 defensive touchdowns in the regular season... but every player gets robbed every now and then.

  • @wrubleski way to discount the fact that Polamalu has actually only been a STARTER for 7 years... and on top of that you only used one statistical category. Why don't we make our assessment off of tackles instead? After all, one statistical category apparently tells the entire story of a player.

  • ed reed is better than troy polamalu

  • @kilox10001 and I let my Steelers bias get in the way so much that I have never once tried to claim that Polamalu is better than Reed...

Many fans are biased. But having a favorite team doesn't mean that you are incapable of being objective. But you wouldn't know much about that because it doesn't seem that you've made any attempt to be objective about anything.

I won't argue with you about which player is better because I honestly don't care, but I will argue against some of your reasons.

  • @kilox10001 lmao... I played in high school and then joined the military afterward... and while I am not as trim as I was 14 years ago, I still meet the Army's physical fitness requirements.

    and again with the name-calling...

  • @kilox10001 you're not a Ravens' fan? What is your favorite team then?

and again... Polamalu appeared in every single game in his rookie season but did not START a single one of them, Lee Flowers was the starting strong safety.

Let's play a drinking game... every time you call me a name, you have to take a shot. Every time I call you a name, I take a shot... let's see who passes out first.

Your name-calling demonstrates an inability to use logic to defend your opinions.

  • @kilox10001 P.S. Polamalu appeared in all 16 games in 2003... but he did not start a single one of them.

  • @kilox10001 What part of START do you not understand? Troy played on special teams and situational defenses during his rookie season... that's not starting. A nickel back plays in every game, but he isn't a starter. The guys on kickoff coverage play in every game, but most of them aren't starters.

Which one of us is bending facts and making excuses again?

  • @kilox10001 I'm a Steelers fan? How'd you guess? Like that somehow invalidates my points... I guess your points aren't valid either since you're an obvious Ravens fan.

Bend the facts? How? By stating that by comparing Reed and Polamalu on a per-season or per-game basis gives you a better idea of how closely matched the two men are? Averaging is bending?

Of course Reed leads in many career stats, he has a two season advantage in STARTS. Again, let's not be logical.

  • and Polamalu may have been drafted only one year after Reed... but he didn't START his rookie season. Lee Flowers was in the last year of his contract for Polamalu's rookie season, so they held off starting Troy until after Flowers' contract expired so that he had time to learn the Steelers' defense. Hence, Ed Reed has a two year advantage in starts.

Next time, check your facts before you get all condescending.

  • @kilox10001 Facts:

    1. I never disrespected Ed Reed

    2. I never called you any names

    3. I never based any of my claims off of this past season alone

    4. I have not said injuries have hindered either man more than the other

Which one of us sounds reasonable and which one of us doesn't?

You may disagree with me, but that is no reason to take things to the extreme that you just did. When logic fails, resort to name-calling. Nice.

  • @kilox10001 Reed has also started two more seasons in the NFL than Polamalu... Why don't we compare Roethlisberger's career stats to Aaron Rodgers. Ben has a 10,000 passing yard advantage and a 57 passing TD advantage... I guess they don't belong in the same league either.

But let's not use things like logic...

Ask Mark Schlereth who the best safety in the NFL is...

  • @kilox10001 in a fair statistical breakdown, the only individual defensive category that Ed Reed has a significant lead on Polamalu is interceptions... interceptions don't tell the entire story.

where was Ed Reed in the playoffs? Getting burned by Jamaal Charles...

and scroll back through all of these comments. I have never once said that Polamalu was better than Reed. All I have done is point out the flaws in all the arguments from you Ravens homers.

  • Also Ed reed holds the rec for int td 107 yds breaking his own record of 106 and he also has 4 fieldgoal/punt blocks for a td I believe?

  • @reblazelol that's an impressive accomplishment, do you know who holds the record for the longest pass completion in NFL history?

Frank Filchock, George Izo, Karl Sweetan, Sonny Jurgensen, Jim Plunkett, Ron Jaworski, Stan Humphries, Trent Green, Jeff Garcia, Gus Frerotte... 99 yards and no one cares.

and I don't think special teams stats account for much in this discussion... most star players don't play on special teams due to the increased risk of injuries. Saying Ed's special teams (cont)

  • @reblazelol make the difference is like saying that Antwan Randle El is a better receiver than T.J. Houshmandzadeh because of Randle El's passing stats...

This would be a better argument if Polamalu were regularly used in special teams situations. How many star players usually play on special teams? Did you ever play in high school? What kind of players were on special teams back then? If you didn't know, it usually wasn't the starters. So not playing on special teams doesn't mean you stink.

  • @reblazelol p.s. I'm not saying Troy is better than Ed... It actually really doesn't matter to me. I could leave this discussion alone and be perfectly happy. It's not like anything I say is going to change your mind. It's more about the debate to me. I like to debate... and I don't agree with your reasoning on a lot of your points.... just so you know where I am coming from.

  • @chuckhowe none the less the only thing Troy would nearly pass over is tackles. He isn't close on anything else, plus Ed reed was out 6 weeks this year so minus like 40tackles and was out 2 other seasons so yeah

  • @reblazelol actually, they are close in everything except interceptions. They are close in passes defensed, forced fumbles, fumbles recovered, etc... and Troy leads in sacks...

and if we're counting games missed due to injury as a point, Troy has missed more games than Ed Reed... He missed two this season, 11 last season, five in 2006, and 3 in 2005. That's a total of 21 games games missed due to injury to Ed Reed's 16... But I don't think that is either here or there, it's a nothing point.

  • they are in the same league, im not saying troy is a scrub but reed is better.

  • ok look, ed reed 495 tackles 411 of which are solo. 54 interceptions for 1,438 YDS 6 of which were TD's 10FF and 86Pass deflections.

Troy 515 tackles 393 of which were solo, but i can understand this seeing how he is a strong safety and is near the line often. 27 interceptions for 328 yards 2 of which were TD's 8 FF. 71 Passdeflections. this is ed reeds 9th season and troys 8th season. although troy is barely short on solo tackles if he had 1 more season i think hed have more. edreed wins. kbye

  • @reblazelol troy also didn't start his rookie season... so effectively, reed has a two season advantage in starts on him.

  • troy does things on the field that has never been seen before, things that aint even listed on a stat sheet...lol after he retires they gonna make a new stat called the polamalu factor...lol hahahaha cheeeeeee....

  • he doesnt seem to note that reed was playing with a career threating kneck injury in 09'......

  • @432azza234 both Reed and Polamalu have missed significant time to injury... Polamalu has had a series of concussions... and I'm not sure how this relates to the discussion???

  • hell yeah haha ZERO RINGS FOR REED

  • The year Ed Reed won his DPOY he played Strong Safety. Compare Reed's 2004 stats to Troy's 2010-11 stats. There is no comparison. Most people argue that Matthews or even Harrison should have won DPOY award this year. And look at Troys performances in this past offseason, average at best. In the Ravens game alone he whiffed 2 tackles and got TRUCKED by Ray Rice. Embarissing. And all you sayin Troy as more rings...that doesn't mean shit in a player vs player debate. Teams win superbowls.

  • @chaoswolf24 2010 wasn't Troy's statistically best season, he won because of the number of game-changing plays he made. If stats were the only deciding factor in DPOY, someone like Cameron Wake or Demarcus Ware would have won.

    Troy 2010: 63 tackles, 1 sack, 11 passes defensed, 7 interceptions, 1 forced fumble, 1 defensive TD

    Troy 2008: 73 tackles, 17 passes defensed, 7 interceptions

Troy 2004: 96 tackles, 10 passes defensed, 5 interceptions, 1 forced fumble, 1 defensive TD...

  • @chaoswolf24

    Troy 2005: 91 tackles, 3 sacks, 6 passes defensed, 2 interceptions, 1 forced fumble

    Ed 2004: 76 tackles, 2 sacks, 8 passes defensed, 9 interceptions, 3 forced fumbles, 1 defensive TD

Troy puts up consistently big numbers, the only area that Reed usually bests Polamalu in is interceptions, but that isn't the only stat to consider... Not to mention, 2004 was Reed's BEST season... He doesn't put up those numbers every year.

  • hahahaha troy polamalu- NFL defensive player of the year

-2x super bowl rings soon to be 3

    -6x pro bowler

-2010 steelers MVP player of the year

How about that for a man who came into the nfl after reed...played less games than reed-way less due to injuries and still is capable to compete with reed...i swear to god troy is a better player then reed. now if u wanna talk stats, guarantee if troy didnt miss all dem games in the past we wouldnt be having this discussion true story.

  • Ed reed is my 2nd fave safety guess who's my #1 fave Troy palumalu but im tired of ppl sayin reed is better

  • @chuckhowe yeah because he was on the PUP list missed 6 weeks came back and got 10 picks. zzzzzz

  • @reblazelol actually he had 8 picks... but why let facts get in the way?

  • @chuckhowe not at all...

  • @chuckhowe

    He was counting playoff INT's.

  • @Cousineau91 that's false... Ed Reed did not have any interceptions this post season.

  • this year ed reed had like 8 interceptions and missed half the games

  • @WhyCallMeAustin even so, Troy Polamalu was just named 2010 NFL Defensive Player of the Year...

  • @chuckhowe eds better

  • @WhyCallMeAustin not this season...

  • @chuckhowe..... Polamalu didn't come close to having dpoy, idk where you got that info. U must be a steelers fan

  • @rferg25 you really should check your facts, prior to opening your mouth...

    wwwDOTpost-gazetteDOTcom/pg/11013/1117778-100DOTstm

i don't know where you got your information from, but it wasn't from a reputable source.

  • @rferg25 actually, Polamalu was just named Defensive Player of the Year... Ed doesn't have an edge in the DPoY department anymore...

  • Chuckhowe....... Bob sanders isnt even close to Ed reed, and reed is more of a game changer than Ronnie Lott, and I always have been a huge Lott fan

  • @rferg25 Lott was a beast... and I'm just using that other guy's logic... apparently if you have a season that you win DPOY, you're better than a guy that does it for a whole career, but never gets the DPOY.

  • this whole video is bullshit and a waiste of time fuck ed reed! go steelers!!!

  • How many championship rings does ed reed have?......................none

Gavens suck, Pittsburgh always seems to make them cry during the post season

  • How many championship rings does ed reed have?......................none

    Gavens suck

  • you are obviously a steeler fan ed reed is better in every category and you idiots below me learn football watch football ed reed was out the first 6 games this season and still led the league in pics and in the playoff game ray rice shit on polamalu twice but ed reed came in the hole and stuck mendenhal because ed reed is a better player in every aspect of the game i hate steeler fans you all jump on the band wagon and no nothing about football

  • @earnweiser didn't ed reed get schooled by jamal charles last week? and i can remember when darren sproles broke ed's ankles last year... what happened on december 5th? troy strip sacks flacco and what did ed do? how about the afc championship in 2008? troy had a pick 6 and reed did what? yeah. that's what i thought.

i bet you know so much about football that you are a certified usa football coach and a gold level nysca football coach... oh wait, that's me. Thank you, come again.

  • @earnweiser who are you to say steeler fans jump on the bandwagon? okay, yea, Ed Reed came back after being out 6 games to lead the league in interceptions..by one to Polamalu, you can't say one is way better than the other. they both are great players. Me, a steeler fan, is admitting that Troy is not better but is not worse, they are practically a tie. But also Troy has been in the league a year less than Ed, in given time Troy will be better, for sure, theres no question about it

  • @earnweiser at the end of the day he has a point 2 superbowl to zero not doing so good ed reed and he left out to thing ed reed got knocked on he ass by Hines Ward and go just up of the year

  • @monster38312 o yea and pro bowls and when they both start ed reed started before him and he still caught up

  • you have to look at the offenses of the two teams in the past 10 yrs. Polamalu is and has been complimented by an above average offense his whole career. Therefore it makes sense he holds two rings to Ed Reed 0. The two safety spots are completely different. Stats are going to be different, The comparison comes down to the one stat that singles a player from the rest of the team......MVP. That stat declares the decisive winner to this comparison

  • @rferg25 oh, so Ed Reed is better than Ronnie Lott? and Bob Sanders is better than Polamalu?

Polamalu very nearly walked away with DPOY this season. he won AFC DPOY (over Reed), but Clay Matthews won NFL DPOY... mostly because of a beastly start to the season, his stats were greatly diminished after the first couple of games.

  • @rferg25 so what does it mean now that Troy has a Defensive Player of the Year award? just like Ed Reed....

  • dude love it!!! the ravens are a bad ass team but man the steelers rock house!!! when ever the ravens play im for the ravens just not against my main team THE STEELERS!! you forgot to metion that POLAMALU has never been knocked out by a wide reciever!! ED REED GOT LAID OUT BY HINES WARD !! what defensive player get laid out by an ofensive player!! lol!!!

  • I'd take either. But like the vid owner said, two different positions. They are by far the best to safties in the league.

  • if ed reed and troy polamalu had a baby(no hoho) it would be ED POLAMALU and he would be LEGENDARY!!!

  • troy is better than ed reed by far ed reed is gud tho. ed reed tho gets crack by hines ward!

  • troy is better than ed reed by far ed reed is gud tho.

  • fact of the matter is, EVERY PROFESIONAL ORGANIZED TEAM PLAYS FOR THE RING.

    Polamalu 2, Reed 0

  • troy pisses on reed !!

  • two completely different positions when talking about SS and FS. They cant really be compared SS is usually the 8th man in the box most, a FS will usually always play back 20 yards so that no WRs can beat them deep just in case.so to compare Ed Reed and troy polamalu is stupid. im a baltimore fan and im always gonna root for Ed Reed Ray Lewis and the ravens as far as shitsburg goes they do have the best SS in the NFL in troy polamalu but no hall of famer as Ed Reed is so clearly just by numbers

  • @benhameen410 YA BUT HINES WARD STILL LAID OUT ED REED SO ......BOOOOOOM!!!!!!! OUR RECIEVER LAID OUT YOUR FREE SAFETY!!! SOME THING IS WRONG WITH THAT PICTURE !!! THE GAY SQUAD!!!!

GAYVENS GAY LEWIS GAY RICE DUDE IF YOU WANT TO COUNT NUMBERS HOW MANY TIMES HAS YOUR GAYVENS BEAT THE STEELERS COMPARED TO US BEATING YOU!!

  • @THESHADOWCASTER1111 Yeah, good luck against the Patriots... haha

  • @ironmaidenjp1 actually im hoping to play the JETS!! but brady is an awesome QB !! so i think the patriots are gonna win but im hoping for the jets!! being the fact i hate the jets!!

  • Troy Polamalu 4 da win !!!

  • the data is too hard to see

  • last time i checked rings dont say how good a player is compared to a team. hell i can name a bunch of NBA players who deserve a ring but dont have one. rings are for team efforts.

  • @KGAllen520 another one bites the dust.... The entire video video talks about how comparable Polamalu and Reed are... and then the last ten seconds or so take a stab at Ravens' fans... Honestly, tell me you wouldn't do the same thing if you were a Steelers' fan. Just goes to show that the Super Bowls are a sore spot for Ravens' fans.... and Steelers' haters too.

  • Who has, more spirit, who has more team, who IS more humble, who IS selfless, who has better Character?

    TROY!

  • Ed Reed is the bomb but really u need to put sum like music or something in it to make it more interesting please!!!!! I honestly almost fell asleeep.

  • @lacrossedev9 the only problem with that is that you run the risk of being hit with a copyright complaint.... the record labels don't play around... i got hit on another video.

  • You forgot the biggest stat...the amount of Flags thrown in the Steelers favor that GAVE Troy those rings...yea. ban me :)

  • @khalilasbro i have a pdf of the Official NFL Rulebook... I can send it to you. The vast majority of the calls that I am sure you're referring to were called correctly.

  • @chuckhowe lol you might want to go review that Interception by Harrison...many videos point out that wasnt called right...the Seahawks, as weak as they are, got cheated...2 right there lol. I like Polomalu, but you should check out my video I made in response to this...clears stuff up.

  • @khalilasbro the supposed block in the back on Harrison's INT was actually a block in the shoulder... Harrison rolled over Fitzgerald on his way to the end zone, no part of his body touched the ground until the ball broke the plane.

as for the Seahawks, Mike Peirera, the VP of Officiating at the time, has said that the only controversial call that was blatantly wrong was the low-block called on Hasselbeck.... I think he knows more about the rules than you or me.

    Nice try though.

  • @chuckhowe lol how about impeding a tackle? or running ou of bounds and back in lol.

  • @khalilasbro impeding a tackle is called blocking... and who ran out of bounds and came back in? Fitzgerald did and ran like 30 yards before he came back in to attempt the tackle... that could very nearly be considered a palpably unfair act... Again, nice try.

  • @chuckhowe you cant impede with your arm to create a barrier.

  • @khalilasbro again, what do you think blocking is? Unless it fits the definition of a hold, an illegal hands to the face, or something along those lines, it's legal....

  • @khalilasbro although, I must admit this is the first I have heard anyone make such a claim... So on the Harrison return, I'm not sure exactly what you are referring to...

  • @chuckhowe im not going to go over all of it, but just look up the cardinals should have won. and you still cant deny the facts in my video...ed owns troy in every category...but 1...

  • @khalilasbro I've seen that sorry video... that guy knows nothing of the rules... I even made somewhat of a response to that video where it shows Sean Morey not getting flagged for a much more blatant block in the back on a long Breaston punt return. The block in the back he tries to point out is borderline at best... but the Morey block was BLATANT, two hands in the back...

  • ed reed kills but u r sooooooooo boring

  • @metsdotnet06 your immediate need to insult tells me that you are incapable of backing up your arguments with coherent thoughts or reason.

also, you're the one that wasted 6 minutes of your life watching this video... no one made you watch it, just saying.

  • Yeh but then again reed does deserve a super bowl ring lol baltimores defense is just amazing. But reed was ranked #1 by the NFL network followed by Troy at #2 =P

  • What you guys don't know is that reed did play strong safety for the first three years of his career in the NFL, and Troy even says that reed is the best safety to ever play this game..

  • @reblazelol actually i did know that... even if i didn't already know, plenty of other ravens fans mentioned those two factsprior to you.

what was polamalu supposed to say? "I'm the best safety that ever lived!" that's not polamalu's style; he's a humble guy. only ali can get away with statements like that....

  • shut up everyone there both grate players i rather troy but reed is a good player aswel

  • Who's faster? ed reed..who has more picks? ed reed.. who has the most defensive td's? ed reed..u see my point?

  • @SasquatchSlayer77 actually, Ed Reed isn't faster than Polamalu. They are probably the two fastest safeties in the league. Most safeties are not as fast as the other defensive backs, but that isn't thae case with Reed and Polamalu.

And interceptions and defensive TDs don't paint the entire picture... they may very well be the difference between the two men. I am not the one to pass final judgement on which man is the better player. But I do know that there is more to the game than that.

  • @SasquatchSlayer77 yes reed has him beat in stats but that is because the threat troy makes has the quarterback throwing to the otherside of the field to avoid him they dont fear ed reed as much thats why he gets more balls his way

  • i am not a steelers fan and i am not a ravens fan but when i look at bolth ed reed i see something in troy that is not in ed reed.the wow factor .troy makes amazing plays all the time and its a privalage to watch him play the best sport of all time. FOOTBALL

  • @SECx8xProductions of course the stats are old, i made it prior to the start of the 2009 season.

  • AWWW booohhoooooo go cry to ur momies ravens fans steelers are a better team offence and defence and troy is better than ed

  • ...Ed Reed is way better! ring or no ring!

  • @cradleofjohannes I wouldn't go that far... Reed may, in fact, be better than Polamalu. But the entire reason that there is a debate about this is because of how equally the men are matched despite playing different styles. I'm not sure there is a right or wrong answer... As I already said, I'm going with Polamalu because of my team-bias (I try to be as objective as possible, but everyone has a little homer in them). Are you sure you aren't just going with your team-bias?

  • @chuckhowe its not about being team biased, its about who got more heart, brings excitement and energy of the game to the field, troy don't do that! just because troy is with a team that has a good offense doesn't make him a better individual player! You know and I know that Troy is mostly known by people and media for his hair not because of the energy and exciting plays he produces. I play safety in my team and nothing pumps me up more than watching Ed Reed & Brian Dawkins, not troy!

  • @chuckhowe it has everything to do with team bias. Every single game, Troy does something that makes you say, "hol, crap!" The only time Reed does that is on his long returns... and while he does it more often than anyone else, there still few and far between. So to say Troy isn't as exciting as Reed is completely wrong. You must not watch much Troy.

  • The difference is that Troy polamalu is still improving at an amazing rate. He nearly doubled his interception count in 2008, had 3 last year when he only played less than 4 games, and i believe he has 2 already this year after taking a season off due to injury.

  • Hey, this is a good video. there is so much bla bla bl about who is bettter. The things is as this video points out that they play different positions and each play a position that works with their strengths. They are both amazing, probowl caliber players. Both give offensive cordinators fits when trying to plan a game against them. Both have game changing abilities and have a measurable affect on the outcome of their games. I like the way Troy plays more than i like the way Ed plays.

  • Polamalu hands down! Game Over!

  • Seriously!? What a waste of time! Dude go get laid and quite reading stats that don't have anything to do with anything in this life.

  • @desertvet0506 I'm married with three kids and one on the way. I get laid too much.

Plus I made this video while I was in Iraq... There isn't that much to do in Iraq in your free time.

And why are you on youtube watching lame videos? Shouldn't you be out getting laid since you're much cooler than me?

  • @chuckhowe nice response (:

  • @chuckhowe true that. lol

  • @chuckhowe again rings don't matter did Troy really do anything in the super bowl u hardly heard his name its like saying Terrell Owens and Randy Moss both don't have rings therefore they not as good Hines Ward

  • @TheDarkestEdge Troy made huge contributions in both 2005 and 2008 that put the Steelers in the Super Bowl... inclding taking a certain Ravens' QB's INT to the house. Winning a Super Bowl is more than just the Super Bowl itself, it's an entire season of getting the job done consistently.

  • @chuckhowe yes but u win the super bowl as a Team its not like Troy won it for them so saying he has 2 and Ed Reed has zero it's like saying Troy won the rings for his team which in that case we all know it was the whole team so you can't compare rings.

  • @TheDarkestEdge The Steelers defense minus Troy is not the same as it is with him (see 2008 and 2010 Steelers D versus 2009 Steelers D). While that might not make him a better player than Reed, per se, but it makes him more important to his team. Troy is a HUGE part of why the Steelers win when they win.

And the bit about the rings is mostly a stab at Ravens' fans. tell me you wouldn't do the same thing if the shoe were on the other foot.

However, you can't say rings don't count...

  • @TheDarkestEdge Rings aren't necessarily as important for a defensive player as they are for a starting QB. But rings are always mentioned on a players resume. the voters are impressed with champions, specifically guys that have been a champion nuerous times.

Why is the knock on Marino his failure to win a Super Bowl if rings have no bearing on the discussion at all? I'm not saying it's the most important factor, or even a huge factor. Marino got into the HOF, afterall. But, they're a factor.

  • @chuckhowe I appreciate your time to do this, Dont worry about the haters tbh. Have you ever noticed the only ones hating on this are ravens fans?Or steeler haters?

  • @desertvet0506 hahaha ur a bitch

  • Polamalu destroys Reed because of those one handed scoop interceptions which are freakish in nature....and the way Troy jumps over the entire offensive line to stop the QB in a quarterback sneak is also freakish. His intensity is at a whole other level than Reed's, stats on paper don't mean shit...just look at the Chargers and the Cowboys.

  • @YoungJTimothyDuece at least ed reed won some defensive player awards not like polamalu ed has a season record of 9 interceptions and he shuts down runs even though he is far away plus ed can return it back

  • @24KDOG24 Troy has been in the DPOY conversation and in the NFL MVP discussion. He will probably be in those discussions this year again provided he stays healthy. No disrespect intended to Reed, he is a phenomenal talent. Like I said in the video, I think they are more comparable than most people would like to admit.

  • @YoungJTimothyDuece really, Ed Reed has a nearly two season advantage. Troy was not a starter his rookie seaon. Ed started as a rookie, so he had two full seasons as a starter before Polamalu even started a game. They have both missed time due to injury during their careers. Once Ed comes back in week 7, they should have missed about the same amount of time due to injury, but Ed will still enjoy a 30-something start advantage to Troy.

  • LOLOLOL LMFAO!!!!!!!!!

  • Super bowl rings are team accomplishments, not individual accomplishments. I hate it when people compare players based on the amount of championships they've won. It really doesn't have much bearing on who's the better player.

  • @BmoreNevermoreRRG well you see, the part at the end about Troy's rings was put in just as a stab at Ravens fans... And it accomplished its goal, because you were so bothered by that part of the video that you completely overlooked the rest of the video in which I explained how I thought that the two players were evenly matched and rather comparable... even though they play two completely different styles.

  • @BmoreNevermoreRRG Furthermore, championships shouldn't be the only factor used in considering how good a player is nor should they be a HUGE factor. But being one of the best players on a championship team is a nice bullet on a player's resume. Making a major contribution to a team during a championship season(s) does offer some insight into how good a player is.

Some players never get surrounded by enough talent to win a championship... and that sucks for them.

  • @BmoreNevermoreRRG thank you

  • @TheDarkestEdge you've fallen into the same trap as most other Ravens fan who watch this... I spend the entire video talking about how both men are beasts, and then at the end I take a little stab at the fans of a rival team... and all the Ravens fans get offended and focus on that one little part of the video... sounds like a little bit of a sore spot for Ravens' fans to me...

  • @BmoreNevermoreRRG sure loser.

  • @BmoreNevermoreRRG

Duh, that's kinda the point dude, its because he is a Stealers fan, you ate the troll bait, sry.

  • @BmoreNevermoreRRG Yea, the thing is, I can see all you bmore ratbird fans get a few more sbs whenever it happens and then talking shit to other teams and bringing up how many sb;s you have. The reason why dont now, well is obvious, cause you only have one

  • @Steelchamp060

Um, no....Polamalu is a great player, and maybe he is better than Ed Reed but you can't base that off the fact that he has more rings than Ed. That's what I'm trying to say. This has nothing to do with anyone talking shit about the amount of SBs they have.

  • @BmoreNevermoreRRG yeah but the bottom line is the super bowl rings, whats the point being the good player

in a shitty team! Ed can have all the stats he wants but Troys still got 2 rings

Troy single handed won the final that won them the game against the Ravens, and Ed did nothing!

    Ed - 0, Troy - 1

  • Comment removed

  • they both are the greatest at the postion they play there no question about it. i think there tied cuz they both shut the pass down and can tackle very well. im a steelers fan but im taking no side...they are both amazing players

  • Dude you need to really go outside and talk to real people

  • @rezarxt6666 I had a lot of free time in Iraq... and really, from start to finish, including research, this video took only about 3 hours to make.

  • @chuckhowe Alright brother ill give you the free pass then lol what MOS are you?

  • @rezarxt6666 Theoretically, I'm a 94F (computer and detection systems repairer), however I am the only 94F in my batallion and we have minimal equipment that I actually fix. So they stuck me in the motor pool with the rest of the ordnance MOS's. I am also my company's comsec courier and a member of the DART team (downed aircraft recovery team). Meaning that I have to go out and pull security in the event that a bird goes down. And if the platoon leader has to go outside the wire, I'm his driver

  • What I know about both of these guys is that no Quarterback wants to see either of them down field. What I know about Troy is that even though you may see him lined up with the tight end, if you blink he'll be on the other side of the field, but oh no, it's too late, you're already thrown the ball!
