  • I can always feel the tears starting to brew when the drums kick in ( 1:05 )

This scene and Bugenhagens death are the 2 saddest scenes in any video game ever.

  • It's good to see these old things again. I played them so long ago.

  • In my opinion this is sadder then when Aries died as I child I never really knew who my father was he must have been a great man he left me too soon odd I too think cause i was 7 at the time,This scene always brings me too tears

  • i cried before even starting this video T^T

  • "I used to be a warrior like you, then I took an arrow to the... everything."

  • I still get the chills :(, everytime i watch this, the story is so beautiful and the song fits perfectly to the moment. I'm so damn happy that my father bought me this game back when i was 7 years old and i still play it today as 21 year old

  • father

  • I understand it's a different company now, and majority of the personnel left after 9, but seriously, how can they go from making masterpieces to making literal shit? It makes no sense to me. People who claim video games can't be art have no fucking clue what they're on about. FF7 is the perfect example.

  • @Nadrim FF has been pretty bad since console had the capacity for complex graphics and voice actors.

What an amazing scene, I had forgotten it but this was really powerful. The little touches like the way Aeris turns back to Red for one more look up at him is remarkable. I wish sorely that they never make another FF VII and ruin it.

  • @tombobzine As soon as they added voiced dialogue and took away turn based combat, it ceased to be Final Fantasy any more. They should rename the new games, because they are not part of the same series that had VI, VII, VIII and IX. I think the three perfect scenes in FFVII, would be this, the flashback of Tifa and Cloud on Mount Nibel, when her mum dies, and obviously, Aerith's death. And I concur - I'd hate for a remake. I hate all the spin-offs, too. They ruin the original.

  • It's games like this that remind us that graphics are not the most important thing about a video game. Newer games with better graphics can't cause one to be moved and have watery eyes like this one can.

  • Same here Ree. The music/story mix is just too beautiful to not weep

  • i love this game and i am probibly not as old as most of the people that played it it rocks

  • Im sick of people saying this game hasnt withstood the test of time, and that the graphics suck. im sorry but if a plot is good the graphics should be secondary. im replaying this game now for the 2nd time im a 27 year old woman, and i cried during this scene. beautiful scene, beautiful music. people can say what they want about this game, but to me the plot & characters touched my heart. amazing game. i also love many of the older ff games, even liked the new ff heroin, too many battles tho.

  • It's making me sad that younger players don't like games like final fantasy VII because the graphics 'suck'.

I first played it when I was 11 or 12, now I am 23 and it is still my favourite game and watching this scene now made me cry. it's just so... perfect. the whole game means so much to me. I grew up with it

  • @RikkuTaylor No, I dont like this game cause its ass. It has its moment but 4,5,6 and 9 are way better.

  • I wish Final Fantasy would stop sucking and start being awesome again. I love these kinds of scenes from the old games. FF6/7 in particular were very moving, and I miss the stories oh so much.

  • Best scene in the game . Just fantastic.

  • I admit, I had a bit of a lump in my throat when played through this part.

  • Man, games that can emotionally affect you like this don't exist anymore =(

  • Watching this scene gives me chills.

Just thinking about the new generation of gamers that think Final Fantasy XIII is the greatest Final Fantasy ever, angers me. Knowing that they will likely never experience a moment in games as beautifully done as this. Video games shouldn't be all about graphics and voice acting.

  • @havenwood29 Then you have the RPG snobs. Final Fantasy 7 is the greatest FF. There's a lot of people who would argue that it isn't. Of the group who would argue that FF7 isnt the greatest in the series, or is overrated, I'd bet that only a handful are giving their honest opinion while the rest are making that claim because FF7 really is the greatest in the series, but they think it's "cool" to like one of the lesser played installments like Tactics or FF5.

  • @StuUngar FF5 has probably a much better and more creative battle system than the materia system where you can just grind with those materias and use em with your best characters. Least in ff5 you can drum up a strategy with the classes you selected.

  • Forever in my mind.. :( BEST GAME EVER! FF7! Then FFX... and then MGS :)

  • why didn't they just use a "soft" on seto?

  • @MrTubrog Altough Seto has a great lifespan, he should be beyond help

  • God damn it, every fucking time...

  • Damn you uploader .lol...Now I have to blow the dust of my old FFVII discs and find my old psx!

There goes the next month of my life.xD

  • Aerith sucks for that boss fight.

  • Screw Aerith, this is sadder than anything. Ever.

  • i promised myself i wouldnt. but when Seto cried(which i forgot about), so did i.

  • One of my favorite all-time scenes/pieces in any video game or book.

    Top Emotional & Inspiring Moments:

1 - Tidus & Yuna Lake Scene (FFX)

    2 - Squall & Rinoa Space Scene (FF8)

    3 - Red XIII & Seto Scene (FF7)

4 - Rena & Claude Argument - Warrior Championship Scene (Star Ocean: TSS)

    5 - Aeris & Cloud (FF7)

  • @EPOCHdevelopment I think Gau's dad is a really sad story in FF6. As well as Locke and Rachel hidden story scenes. Shadow and Relm's dreams. I swear FF6 is by far the greatest story ever made. Cyan and the loss of his family, it really goes on and on. So many tragedies and hardships to experience. Anyone who hasn't played FF6 should really try it. But for all the sadness, there is also just great stories of triumph.

  • @NY1love It is amazing. I don't know about you, but once they started giving voices to the characters it became really difficult to invest in some of the more poignant moments. I mean, the sadest moment in FFX (for me at least) was the moment that Auron says "I changed nothing. That's my story." and then they don't speak. There's a long period of silence where you're allowed to imagine what the characters are thinking. The rest of the time you've got Tidus chatting whiny shit over everything.

  • Now I...want to see this all redone on the Crystal engine. What I liked about it was; that we had very cinematic camera angles on characters. Imagine this scene and Cid's past all run on Crystal!

  • the greatest but saddest scene in video game, prehaps even movie history. never fails to bring a tear to your eye

  • THIS IS MY FATHER'S DAY SONG, I LOVE DAD, WHERE YOU ARE!!!

  • To me this scene is the best FF7 has to offer. No other scene has this kind of emotion in it, and only Cid's past comes kinda close.

  • @ZealSeraph So long since I played this game, whats that about Cid's past?

  • @GodwinCarpenter The scene where he's finally going to fly to outer space, but ends up giving up the dream to save Shera. I guess I'm pretty much alone with this, but I feel horribly bad for Cid when he aborts the launch and pretty much crushes his dreams by his own hands. The music in that scene is amazing too.

  • The statue says it all, really. You'd have to have a heart of stone to not be moved by this.

  • Poor Red :( Makes me sad

  • Still makes me get teary.

  • "I am Nanaki of Cosmo Canyon!

The son of the warrior, Seto!"

That was the first time he called himself Nanaki...the first time he acknowledged himself as the son of Seto. One of the best scenes ever in Final Fantasy...the tears of Seto were indescribable =\

  • They should make a movie about Red XIII.

  • i would have just cast Esuna on Seto so he wouldn't be a rock anymore.

  • What happend to Final Fantasy? since Squaresoft is working together with enix its not the same Final Fantasy anymore. i think this era ended with FF10. I like 12 and 13, but not compareble to the older ones! I love this scene, I love Final Fantasy 7. Best Game ever. Still makes me cry. Best Story ever. Bring it to PS3, it would be EPIC. Final Fantasy 7 rules. Forever!

  • @gunth23

We all want an FF7 remake for the PS3, but really, I'd be fine with waiting 20 years for something like that. I can only wonder at the possibilities.

  • @DovahWarden Thats true^^ But still i think it will never be the same.

  • We've had a Vincent spin-off, we've had a Zack spin-off... how about a Seto spin-off? anyone?

  • This was the best part of the whole game..no lie. I love Nanaki. He is my favorite.

  • the best ff character........evrrrr

  • Oh man... True hero

  • All right! "Gravity" materia!

  • what is the name of the song in this scene?

  • @ps3shitson360rod "The Great Warrior"

  • The BEST Final Fantasy!!!

And THIS Fantasy, was really the FINAL!

    No. 7 = Perfection!

    ThumbsUp for FF7!!!

  • Fuck the death of Aeries. (Seriously, you're only losing a healer with a personality of...wait, make that NO personality, that is easily replaced.) THIS scene is the games real tear-jerker.

  • Easily the most powerful, heart and soul touching moment I have experienced, besides bugenhagen's death speech, which isn't as powerful but most defintely deserves second place. Never have I played a game with such an amazing story, likable characters, epic music, and awesome gameplay. To all developers, MAKE GAMES IN WICH YOU FIND A MEANING AND DEEPER STORY! It would make the world so much more awesome.

  • I didn't cry as a 16 year old kid when this came out, but I did as a 29 year old man revisiting this almost forgotten memory.

  • @Ree1981

    You are a girl.

  • @Ree1981 I hate to admit it... but me too.

  • I think this is the most beautiful scene I've ever seen in a game, and one of the most beautiful song.

  • Is it weird that I get all teary-eyed when I watch this scene and not with the other sad scenes?

  • when my father dies, i gonna dedicate this to him, a real STREETNINJA~

  • Scenes like this make me want to play this game again.

  • manly tears

  • Best FF game ever made all the characters stories are on the level of this one but this is by far the saddest one I cried for Seto he gave his life for the canyon and his son never got to meet him so when he sees him be proud of him he cries while in stone EPICNESS

  • best video game scene ever

  • damn i remember fuckin' crying when i 1st got to this scene, and after all these yrs i still get teary eyed

  • the best 5 minutes in my life

  • if the scene is this amazing....imagine it if the game is remade with the graphics of FFXIII.

  • @dogsbone07 Seriousy lads, it's grand reminiscing on how beautiful and emotional this and indeed much of ff7 was... but for the love of god, please stay away from the remake discussion. i just watched that tech demo again. Awesome... but ain't goin happen...for a long while anyway. btw, i haven't played 13 yet. worth a go?

  • @daveslucky great music and visuals. Of course the story isn't as good as this one.

  • I shed manly tears... It's unbelievable how epic this scene es... to think that it involved a dog and an old guy..

  • I just got a lump in my throat... and eyes welled up a bit...

    And DAMN PROUD TOO!!!

Saddest thing I've ever seen... but kinda happy too, cos now Nanaki knows the truth about his father, and Seto knows he's proud... just epic.

  • best FF7 scene and zik ever...

  • Just a note to the guy who uploaded this: the title says Red XII. Might want to fix that.

  • ;_; nanaki

  • kitsuneru hes half lion half wolf duh

  • God, I miss this game.

  • Why, why?! Can't we just use a soft on him? Same as we could try use a phoenix down on Aeris's?!

    <3 FF7

  • A damn shame that humans can't howl.

  • This is one of several reasons Red XIII is my favorite character in FFVII. And yet he is largely underused in the FFVII compilation merely because "his fur is hard to animate". Goddamnit Square.

  • jesus christ cloud... cast SOFT on Seto! you selfish jerks! =P

  • Probably, it's a special type of petrification like the same of Porom and Palom in FFIV, a normal soft or remedy is ineffective

  • 5 stars

the best scene of the all game.I don`t remember this, but when I see now........................ouuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

    Thank you!!!!!

Red XIII (in my game Yupi) is the best!!!!!!!

  • This game had an amazing story to it one of the best ive ever seen

  • Seto cries while thinking: "Can someone PLEASE bring me a soft or a remedy?"

  • This scene makes me reflect on the legions my ancestors who were slaughtered and displaced giving rise to McDonald's on every corner American life.

Gotta love Chris Columbus and his Gi tribe...

  • I didn't cry when my entire family got wiped out and killed I CRIED WHEN I PLAYED FF7.. now that's superior

    DUMBASS

  • What the Fuck are you talking about Scania? Your the person who Went and looked for the Video. If you can call anyone who likes this a Faggot, then why the hell did you search it?

  • What exactly is the definition of a "REAL GAME"? A game is a game and some are good or bad. FF7 is epically good because it goes deeper than any other game I've ever encountered. You actually fall in love with your characters as you spend hundreds of hours on them. Then they fucking DIE and you're sad. ScaniaChan, with comments like yours, how does it feel to know that people'd be more sad from a videogame character's death than yours, you jackass?

  • @ScaniaChan Who's the bigger faggot? The faggot or the faggot who's telling everyone else they're faggots?

  • I love your usage of strawman arguments.

    1.5/10

    Try harder, junior.

  • i really felt sorry for Red XIII, huhuhu :(

  • its like i found redxii from that laboratory just yesterday. This game is a piece of art...

  • seto and bardock are two badass motherfucking dads

  • @punjsher f*ck yeah!!!!! long life to seto and bardock!!!!!

  • This scene is so beautiful and sad. ='(

I never saw any fucking good scene in an other game.

    Final Fantasy 7 FTW!

  • sob sob waaaaaaahhhhh waaaaaaahhh such a sad scene it always makes me cry when setos tears drop and red howls there's no words for how beutiful this scene is 999999999999999999999999999999Stars this deserves a bafta award

  • This is the best moment in any Final Fantasy ever.

Final Fantasy VII was really something special, it's a game of epic proportions. Square at it's finest.

  • i just got goosebumps when redXIII started howling.

the music just fits this scene so perfectly.

  • a high point of a great game. maybe the greatest game ever.

  • Seriously, words cant describe how beautiful this fucking scene is.

  • @rak000 True that, man.

This scene is fucking nails! Absolutely love it. I'm auditioning for Nanaki for a fandub, and i'm using this scene!

  • @rak000 I agree, its moving what his father character did. Having thought his father was a coward, it is moving to hear that his father single handedly saved them all.

  • it gave me teary eyes when i played it, its amazing and the music matches pefectly at the moments

  • RedXII rocks in FF7 lol I always use him in clouds party with Tifa xD

  • One of the best things about this scene was the fact that you couldn't really see it coming. When you go through the cave you're not expecting something this touching to happen. This was definitely Red XIII's finest moment. One of the most memorable and touching scenes from any game, or movie, to me.

  • does anyone know the named of this song. is it cosmo canyon? because i love this verison of it.

  • Great Warrior.

  • thank you!!!!!!! I Love this Game!!!!

  • if they made a game on red 13, this would be the equivalent to Aerith's theme. I wish they would have emphasized his story more.

  • sooo sad :(....a masterpiece

  • This probably one of the strongest scene in the game,a sinner facing a guilt.FF7 was much more than a game.

  • This scene touched more alot. Aeris' death wasn't sad to me, though.

  • He... was a true patriot.

  • In my opinion, possibly the very best scene in all of Final Fantasy VII. Makes me want to cry to this day.

  • good history

  • *tries to cast soft on seto* TT 3 TT

  • This is such a strong scene, when his father cried and he howled, so many things triggered in my mind, it bought back so many memories and it just makes me think about the world.

  • this is the best scene in this game i love it !

  • When Nanaki howls...

    Can't stop my tears...

  • same everytime i play this part i cant help but cry...this n Aeris/Aerith death scene always hits home...

  • FINAL FANTASY MOTHERFUCKING VII!!!!!!

Most don't understand how epic this game is, and like to call it overrated. But in the late 90's there was absolutely nothing like this, it blew our minds and I couldn't stop playing it. 1997, a memorable year.

  • To me, this was sadder than Aeris's death. Especialy seeing his father cry like that

  • Amazing scene, amazing game, legendary story. Like many others, this was my first introduction to the final fantasy series growing up. When I finished it, I felt like all of the characters were a part of me...and I still do... This will always be my favorite game of all time.

  • This is the best scene in any game or movie ever, the best music in the world, the best game ever...

  • Honestly if you ask me, this part is more tear jerking then when Aeris (or Aerith, whichever you wanna call her) was stabbed by sephiroth cuz clearly she had it completely comming, this part was more of a surprise to me.

  • and morons still ask why this is the best game of our time! Need you see more!?

  • cosmo canyon the best place in ff7 world, best music........

  • One thing that confuses me is this question:

Is Nanaki a kid or adult?

Cause he's supposively 40 or so but in human years he's like 10.....In Advent Children he sounded way too weird than I expected.

I thought he would have...at least a 17 year old voice or something.... but I just don't know.

  • He's a kid.

He's like 30/40 or something in human years, but only 17 or whatever in his species' years.

  • Then you mean the other way around....

He's 17 in human years but 48 in his race years....

  • No.

In the game, Bugenhagen says that he's 30 or 40 (can't remember which) in human years, but only 17 by his species life span - still a child.

I just played through the game again this week, so it's fresh in my mind.

  • It amazes me people will continue to argue an incorrect point like this. Youre on the internet, google it yourself, you are wrong.

  • @XGiftedGamerX Correct, and it is further reinforced in the "500 years later" scene after the end credits... when Nanaki takes his cubs to see Midgar.

Gah...with his tail blazing and... gah... impossible to keep it together. Too powerful

  • Nostalgic....Another best scene of FF7. It did make me cry.....

  • poor seto!!

    and that confuses me,

he howls at the end, but he's a cat O.O

  • I'm going to admit to crying, this scene is /that/ touching.

  • it takes alot of guts to admit that my friend.

    alot of guts.

  • MANLY TEARS.

  • I nearly cried at this bit, Nanaki is jus so awesome! It made me cry :')

  • One of the most memorable, and dramatic moments in FF7. You can't really feel the emotion from the scene unless you understand it though. Still, I felt it, and it's very moving.

  • When I first played it, I didn't understand it really (ok, I was 9 years old...:D )

but then I got to know this beautiful scene...i shivered and i cried too....it is a very enchanting moment...

  • Nanaki & Seto is one of my favourite moments.

  • Love it. First played it in Japanese version and since my Japanese was close to non-existent, I didn't understand much of it.

    Thanks for uploading.

  • The howls make me shivers...

  • amazing game truly amazing

  • This game is so beautiful, to play it is almost life changing!

  • ya I know.

I will never forget this game no madder how old I get.

This is truly a great game.

  • i just got goosebumps.

  • i...almost...cried just now. only a great game like FFVII could do that!

  • Waow easy boy! okay ffVIII is far beyond his predecessor but still i'd rather play it than lots of other games called "RPGs" it does have its part of magic and even if nearly all the characters are lame, it's telling us well the story of some hardcore sociopath dealing with obligations and feelings he can not bear.

  • I agree with both of you, 7 was by far the most intricate, and Hard hitting, But 8 Brings Reality (minus some finer points) And If I had the choice, I would play both at the same time. 8 was far better in alot of ways, But 7 tops the charts on everything else.

  • i still get goosebumps when i here that music! so mnay years ago it was that i played that game! 1997! the years pass so quickly. those moments in the game were inspiring. ffvii shall always have a place in my memory.

  • Is this music on the OST?

  • Yes, it's called "Great Warrior".
