It sucks that these brilliant and loyal dogs have such a bad rep for the very quality that makes them such an awesome breed. You can train a pit to do anything. From playing with and protecting your children and family to fetching things to fighting other dogs. Pits just want to be the best they can be for their owner and will do anything to be that. It's the owners of the vicious and wild pits that train them that way that should be punished.

I'd love to know who did that "research" on panting and pushing them in hot weather...hmmmm.....Pits also have shorter snouts and are less able to breathe like a regular dog does to cool down. @MrPaintballer16 One reason is for exercise. Maybe you haven't heard but dogs need exercise quite often. That's like asking why do people lift weights. Track athletes pull agility sleds to train as well its not a new concept. Do some research, a lot of dogs love pulling. If this dog didn't want to pull he wouldn't move, when the dog is tired he stops. I don't see anyone physically pushing/pulling him to make him move. Do yourself a favor, Google it next time so you don't sound so ignorant.

don't you carry water with you? Doesn't take much to tell he's thirsty. and by 3min he's done. Pushing your dog like that does more damage than good. Same thing when we work out. If you over do it you damage your muscles and can cause long term problems. I'm not knockin on you...I'm just saying you might consider not pushing him to the point where he can't even stand anymore.

@Ultima2032 Actually you are wrong! With a 10 year panting research it is been proven that when a pit is pushed to the limits in hot weather they release amino acids to their system. Their Pant is very impresive and they are actually cooler then if you give them water or water them down. They dont have pores like us remember that. No shit dogs lack pores. Even though it may be able to breakdown amino acids it still doesn't change the fact that it takes time to do so. Regardless of how fast one recovers. For you to justify based on one study shows you're not that bright. I can show u studies that pits r killers does it make it right?

You obviously no nothing about dogs. My German shepherd went for their first shutzhund qualification after 8 months and started training the 2nd month. Pitbull training should start immediatly because of the fact they are pitbulls and should have no room for their true nature too come out. If you leave them untrained till 3 they have no clue that they're not supposed to bite and moat likely will because it's their nature and don't know any better

this weight pull training is better than pulling a cart. a cart have wheels, thus, reducing the effort of the dog.. try placing a 100lbs weight on a sled and let's see if a pit who can pull twice that weight ON A CART can pull it on a sled.. and yeah, these type of dogs needs a lot of attention. like for example, my pit barks anytime he sees me. i just let him weight pull on a 60lbs weight placed ON an old rubber tire laid down on the ground. after a few short rounds, he just shuts up.. easy.
