  • Beautiful work. Are you still on YouTube?

  • Well done video and great narration. This one of the better Homebrew projects I have seen recently. Thanks for sharing your work.

    73,

    Glenn WA4AOS

  • You take great pride in your construction and boy does it show! An excellent video on an exellently built piece of equipment. It's got to be Tens all round from me.

  • WOW very good job. nice rig!

  • Very nice! Nice sounds.

  • Nice job! bud.

  • :( i wish i had the cash for ham radio maybe my great uncle will pass down his to me :/ till then no fun for me

  • hi. may i kindly ask you if you would do a paid job for me? coil winding. i LOVE your work. please privat message me if that is possible, i'd like to build a tube FM radio within the next couple of months and im collecting the parts now.

  • I really want to know if this radio is EMP proof. It'd be awesome if it was.

  • Very nice...I wish it was mine!!

  • very good receiver .. homemade is beautiful. 73s jorge

  • belle qualité audio

  • I admire anyone who can homebrew. I have the construction skills of a potato.

  • I wish i had time to do more homebrew.

  • is possible schematic diagram?

  • goooooodd!! :-)

  • Hi ! I am a Ham ! This is a wonderful project ! Really nice job ! I am considering a similar project, perhaps the Simplex Four or similar reflex type receiver. This is inspiring. I have built novice type transmitters and it would be nice to have a novice receiver. Please never remove this video as I would like to see it in the future, thanks !

  • Awesome project - it looks so clean that it could be in the pages of QST , is this a superhet front end with a regen detector?

  • Nick:

As a result of this video, I plan on building the 1953 version of this rig. You are an inspiration! Thanks and 73.

  • great sound radio!!! 73 JA8JPO

  • Fantastic !!!!

Tha's is what i really love in ham radio !!!

  • I'd love to have one of these project radios. unfortunately building gear isn't my forte , :( oh well my rice box icom is pretty cool still.

  • This is great! The finished product, as shown on your web-site, is great. How did you make the front panel?

Also, where do you get these long out of production parts?

    73, Frank WB4RVL

  • @f2a77r31

Hi Frank.I don't know about KEP's sources but if i were him, I would be scouring Ebay, the swapfests, and some friends who have parts.

  • The construction is excellent.

  • got an on line copy of the schematic?

  • Ничё1

  • Sure looks great...nice work and sounds great. 73 W4GSM

  • you are a skilled constructor ... a pleasure to watch .. thankyou!!

  • Very nice sound !!!

  • Nice project ! 73 9A7PJT

  • very wonderful!!!!!!!

  • Yeah, these "hams" are really on the cutting edge

  • Very nice construction. I am working on a 40M transceiver and I have been having some trouble getting the L.O. to operate correctly. I was thinking about having the L.O. and the tuner adjusted by seperate controls. It looks like yours is that way. Am I correct? If so have you had any problems tuning it. It looks like it works very well.

  • Superb!

  • Excellent, very good operation, bravo!

is it possible to find the complete schematic somewhere?

    Pierre

  • Nicely constructed reciever. Good video!

  • This is a really good project, but seems to me to be outdated. No-one surely uses Ham radio anymore do they? Now that the Internet is so much bigger and miles better. Remember slow-scan tv? It will never replace you-tube! I admire your electronics knowledge though.

  • Ham radio is a vehicle to learn about electronics....How can that be outdated?

  • great work!!! good luck!

  • it nice homebrew my 73 de DU3DE

  • Outstanding! It's always a pleasure to see well constructed/well made homebrew rx's.

  • Bravo! Very nice construction.

  • Dear OM

The coil L2 is a bit too high in inductance, which means than L1 and L2 are overcoupled. This gives the two peaks. Try taking off turns gradually a couple at a time. The resistor value is, as you say, irrelevant. You can also use a capacitor in this position. The coupling will never be correct on both 40 and 80m. It is beeter to use an RF stage to seperate the two tuned circuits to avoid this problem. I like yor RX very much.

  • What a great receiver

  • don't you want to have your oscillator shielded?

because it can inter fear with your radio,

maybe it is causing that 2 peaks.

    just a idea i had !!

  • Congratulations, very nice job, thanks for share

  • very detail nice job...5 stars from me:)

  • sweet, very nice work

  • Wow. That's a very nice receiver.

  • Very nice work!

  • Nice construction! Randy
