He did the body bulding thing strictly for 300, is not into it. does a lot of bike riding, light boxing, etc. He hates exercise and has a sweet tooth, but works on his body for every film. He said he lost weight to do the naked scene in Law Abiding Citizen, and goes on cleanses, when he forgets to eat right. Did not start buffing up until late 20s, for roles. Scottish dudes like to eat and drink, and he gave up drinking!

You get these big puffd up guys that think they are in shape and they are not. With people like gerard in 300 we was ripd dense solid muscle.

Arnold has had some bad photos too, and he really had to work to maintain his shape. I like Gerard better with all those changes he makes from slim to burly, and back again. @johnplayersstandard He has a personal trainer. He did a vid for L'oreal Men's stuff. He mentioned his personal trainer, who also makes him box, skip rope, push up, etc. Has always had one to change his body for various roles, including for Tomb Raider. He said he got injured doing 300, overdid it, and does not want to go that route again. I am not fond of shaved,oiled bodies with excess musculature. That is more a body building thing . He looks good for 6'2 inches, and his age of 41.

@vishramam Not according to all the training videos, and videos of him on set during the shoot, and pumping iron constantly. He stated he trained six hours a day, and now has some injuries from overtraining. Take a look at him in Law Abiding Citizen, the six pack is there but smaller, he did not want to work that hard again. He had to shave as well, which he hated. No morphing, just really hard work.
