When I was there in 2009, you could swim in there after 5:00 pm when they shut the boats down for the day. There is a rock shelf in the back you can climb onto to hang out. Just be careful on the rocks. Magical place! One of the most memorable of my trip.
aw, memories, These boatmen have to wait for the tide to be low before the boat passes thru. We had to lie low in the boat. I was nervous and confused at first to be trapped in the cave cuz the tide was rising then. The tide rose and sometimes seemed to cover the opening so it resulted in a row of boats waiting in line to row out. Exciting though.
Cool. I am watching a view shot from the air of southern Italy. They show the blue grotto. The boats are entering the tunnel. It's so cool to pause the show and then search the grotto on my nook and go inside! Just a more fun way to watch a travel show.
Ducking down to enter the mouth of the entrance was one of the most terrifying experiences of my life as someone who is rather frightened by water full stop, but the experience of the grotto was well worth it plus more.
Hermosa gruta, la visité en el 2006, me explicó el guía que su hermoso color azul esmeralda es debido a al refracción de la luz, en el fondo calcareo marino. mucho cuidado si quieren visitarla solo se puede cuando la marea esta baja.
@1Linkinmaniac I didn't know there was a cave in Croatia, even distantly attractive , and I think 99.99999.......% of world people ignore that ...;-) !!! Anyway this is Capri , probably the most beautiful and most famous island in the world, and this cave is of such a stunning and breathless beauty that it's known even by children at Elementary School .....!!
Ps : are you sure that place in croatia you named has a cave ...?? XDD
One wonders why people need to make any noise at all in such a beautiful place. It's like those loudmouths who have no reverence for nature when you're visiting Muir Woods.
because one of the characteristics of grotta azzurra is also the acoustics, and then because the singing (..and also the loud talking) is part of our italian culture, especially of south italy.
Indeed, the inside is outstanding and unbelievable; it is traumatic at the beginning though, for the small size of the hole to enter the grotto and the way the slide you in, however, those songs and the beauty of the place make it well worth it.

I did this during a storm with rough waves.
One of the few times I actually saw my life flash before my eyes.
