compresser surge does no harm, in england we do it as an alternative to running a dump valve :)

Compressor surge IS bad. its a violent/abnormal flow of air in the compressor and results in a performance loss so brief instrument guages cannot read it. A good operating blow off valve can rid of this by removing the air before it has time to linger or move back disrupting air flow. In high-horsepower applications this is critical. But what the fuck do I know. Cheers

a t28 turbo can handle it fine, to prove it s13s dont have a recirc or dump valve as standard so they flutter from new, :) trust me i own one of these and its been fluttering the last 20,000 miles :)
