Just imagine if I, a dutch man and an english man would sit together at a pub. We would order drinks. Then the dutch and the english say we´re not going to pay for us. We´re going to make your life as misserable as possible if you won´t pay our bill. Why should I pay for their drinks? I didn´t drink it. Icelandic people are not going to pay something they didn´t borrow! Icesave were a part of Landsbanki product. Landsbankinn, an Icelandic bank borrowed these money. Icelandic tax payers SHOULD NOT pay this. Our president announced that he refuse to sign the new law making Iceland pay and he is going to let the Icelandic people decide. I´ll tell you what results you´ll get: NO! We WON´T and SHOULDN´T pay something we didn´t borrowed!
The Icelandic people are not to blame for what happened with the Icesave case, it all went down behind their back and no one of the Icelandic nation (well maybe some politicians knew) what was really going on.
With all critism towards the attitude of the incompetent Icelandic central bank and the failing former conservative Icelandic government of mr. Geir Haarde (the worst fool Iceland ever produced) I feel sorry for the Icelandic people. They cannot get away with this, on the other hand they never can pay all debts. A decent compromise is needed.
@adalstef I don't know exactly what you are saying but: Iceland is not changing it's emblem since the emblem is a part of an acient viking religion, therefore even though Icelandic people are not vikings, it's still a symbol of our ancestors.
