  • God I put this on to listen to an amazing song and then Fred's god awful voice came blasting in my ears telling me not to press the skip button, fortunetly I din't listen

  • @autoaxpert i think the lyric is.. "without the truth to the eyes..." so i believe it means that the happy folk were so naive they never questioned anything or suspected anything... just my opinion :)

  • This could totally be the backstory for Minecraft. :D

  • @xKrunchbyteX god yes <3

  • 0:00 Your welcome.

  • 3 people are strangefolks

  • replay, replay, replay, replay

  • So good.. alot of meaning to this, like most Gorillaz songs.

  • Gorillaz

  • it would be cool to have a version of this narrated by Tom Waits.

  • @KnIghTOfCyDoniAz4 - My GOD!!! My thoughts exactly!!! That would be so awesome. Wonder if Damon is willing to try it, since dennis hopper is dead......

  • @JHandcock1111 yeah rip dennis, but it wuld be awesome if they did

  • Without the Truth of the Eyes... can someone please explain me the meaning of this sentence? I

  • @AutoAxpert Soooo it means without ur eyes seeing everything u want to. kind of thing

  • @MrBerrybird Thank you very much

  • @AutoAxpert Without the tricks of the eyes

  • @TheoMackenzi Yes, I thought it says that too, but the lyrics in the descritpion (and on the internet, I checked it out) are "without the truth of the eyes". I don't know, maybe the lyrics aren't correct, but I've watched many sites and they are all the same.

  • @AutoAxpert Oh wow you're right I guess I just always assumed it was tricks seeing as that makes the most sense

  • @AutoAxpert It's because the eyes are apparently the "windows to the soul", so wearing sunglasses you can't really trust them.

  • @SpyWhoLovedHimself Thank you very much! Now it makes sense.

  • @SpyWhoLovedHimself I think it refers more so to them being unable to see said strange folk in their aforementioned camouflage.

  • @SpyWhoLovedHimself excatly you got it :)

  • @SpyWhoLovedHimself ... you should of just told him to find out for himself.

  • @AutoAxpert its true the eyes are the window to the soul but its not what that sentence meant "without the truth of the eyes" you would see the wrong in the world the abuse kinda like what our world would be if eve didnt bite the apple

  • @AutoAxpert You can tell a lot about a person and specifically how truthful they are being by watching their eyes,

  • i need the lyrics for white light

  • How about the reality of America ruining itself because of the ignorance therein? "Oh LKittle Town in USA Your time has come to see there'es nothing you believe you want, but where were you when it all came down on me. Did you call me, oh?"

  • Castrophony!!! :D

  • perfect for minecraft >.>

  • 3 stronzi.

  • I thought this song was about the Mount St. Helens' eruption. Woopsie!

  • dude this is a trippy song when your stoned like I am woww

  • iraq jewels=bombs dreams invaded=crushed terrorist dreams monkey speaking=big ass bomb

  • Why not just enjoy the song instead of trying to link it to a war or invasion?

  • Strange username. Great song.

  • everything a emo child needes

  • Three days ago I stayed up all night making a model. I ended up playing this over and over for 5 hours. I wish I was kidding, but I'm not.

  • This song deels with Deep ecology. I don't think it has anything to do with war.

  • to me, it could be based on any raid of a place for it's recources and thievery of its sentimental values for profit. but thats me.

  • This sounds like Hiroshima or Vietnam.

  • So you all understand... This is about Vietnam. NOT Iraq.

  • What's more epic than a Gorillaz song? A Gorillaz song with Dennis FUCKING Hopper.

  • This is a metaphor for anything and everything going wrong

  • Actually this sounds a lot like anything that deals with colonization. Also remember in Vietnam there was a mountain named Monkey Mountain? Possibly a mild reference to that. But overall it just seems to be talking about whenever a higher power comes over a weaker nation for resources.

  • I think that it wasn't written for one example but rather all examples of imperialism

  • guess who the narrator is..........dennis hopper

  • I love the end.

"Did you call me...now...." *sound of wind*

    Badass, dude.

  • @Ultrapwnedman55 Interesting...

  • what is this song about?!

  • This makes me think of just... imperialism. In any of it's form in any context. I love it.

  • @HCTours thats what i use it for

  • haha this song is the best when you are laying in a dark room, blown xD

    scary stuff lol

  • @ChubbsterMcGee tell me about it man :)

  • @Garroterr man? man? haha okaay :) haha

  • I think the metaphor that Gorillaz is getting at is that the lust for riches can kill whole civilizations. The Strangefolk refers to those who are willing to destroy for personal gain. The Happyfolk are the innocent people who are killed and hurt by this destruction (i.e troops, bystanders). Think about it: We are killing those who kill people to prove that killing is wrong. Problem, General?

  • @DRAMAdramabeats20oh4 well said dude. Greed is the modern day deity.

  • @DRAMAdramabeats20oh4 Lol, I think 'The Strange Folk' IS Gorillaz xD

  • @DRAMAdramabeats20oh4 bravo most people i know don't understand this song well done :)

  • I looked up "castrophany" online and I got this:

A word who's origins are rooted in a Gorillaz song entitled Fire Coming Out Of The Monkey's Head.

    Lmao small world.

  • @Shancus32796 its an amalgamation of two real words "cacophony" and "catastrophe".

  • this is a pretty bad ass bedtime story. i seriously dont care what this song is about, just sit back relax and enjoy. for all we know he could have been as high as a kite wen he wrote this or he really did have a meaning. eiether way man its a good song

  • This is creepishly similar to the history of the Black Hills of South Dakota...

  • this is my new camp fire song

  • There should be a children's book about this WITH the violent parts

  • Dennis Hopper ;[

  • RIP Mr Hopper

  • RIP Dennis :(

  • only best bit was "Falling out of aeroplanes and hiding out in holes

Waiting for the sunset to come, people going home

Jump out from behind them and shoot them in the head

Now everybody dancing the dance of the dead,

    the dance of the dead,

    the dance of the dead"

  • Its like Dr.Suess but darker...

  • The only song I really really liked off this album

  • It's funny how everyone thinks they know what the song is about, who cares anyway. Why don't they write a letter to the band and see if they're right...

  • The meaning of the song is subjective, it reminds that nobody is right and nobody is wrong. but in a general way that' about as objective as you can get when interpreting a song.

  • Did anyone think about you, did they count you out at all? to late to vote, the revolution is coming, the world has had enough!

  • Because of "O little town in U.S.A, your time has come to see

There's nothing you believe you want

But where were you when it all came down on me?

Did you call me now?" I think its about British people going to America in the 1800s

  • Really? I thought it was about America going to war with Iraq for the oil (Jewels of the caves or w.e. the hell is metaphorically used)

  • @SpyWhoLovedHimself

I think it is just a made up story...

  • @carfoz

thanks tips......... its clearly a made up story, but that doesn't mean there is not an underlying message hidden within.. broaden your horizons

  • @SpyWhoLovedHimself really i thought it was about adam and eve but who cares lets just enjoy the song kay and shut up

  • @SpyWhoLovedHimself

"The Strangefolk, they coveted the jewels in these caves above all things,

and soon they began to mine the mountain, its rich seam fueling the chaos of their own world." Definitely Iraq.

  • @SpyWhoLovedHimself you think the Iraqi people were "happy folk" before America came along?

  • @Thrallolol lololololololol xD

  • @Thrallolol this made me smile

  • @SpyWhoLovedHimself : Well possible too but I rather think it is the first suggestion, since the people in Iraq would probably not be refered to as "the happy folk, lifing there peaceful lifes in harmony"...I think this is really a direct reference to native americans!

  • @SpyWhoLovedHimself I think Spy has it right on this

  • @Tehan123 To me It sounds like the Mt.St Helens inccident

  • @Tehan123 in the 1800's? Are you sure about that date? Because I'm pretty sure America was an independent country by then....

  • @pinkxjellybean The war of 1812 was with England....

  • @pinkxjellybean ok, that,i know. I thought you meant they'd first got there in the 1800's.

  • @Tehan123 do you mean the 1600s?

  • This song is great because it is all an extended metaphor.

  • the story of moses? anyone?

  • This song is so great I love it

  • I think you can place this song in a lot of contextes, for me, it's a reminder that you shouldn't spend your life earning money not paying attention to anything else. You'll never be satisfied when you're greedy.

  • This song is about the Americans going to Africa listen to it

  • iraq

  • dennis hopper does the speaking role.

  • holy shit

    war in iraq much??????????

  • i am murdoc

    nazz is noodle

    sunil is russell

  • I really like the humming on the background, it's all those little details wich really stand out

  • Love this song

  • OMG :28 is just amazing. That other instrument that comes in there just makes it soooo awesome!

  • Sadly this has happened in real life. Maybe it didn't end with that the "Mountain spoke" but as a matter of fact. The natives died.
