The Rolling Stones are and always will be fantastic, their early R&B stuff was just simply "Great". As for Twickenham and Richmond, It was my old Stomping ground in the sixties, that was certainly the place to be.
Does anyone remember those lovely days at The "Castle" Richmond, L'Berge at Richmond Bridge, and of course "eel Pie Island"? Thanks for that Track.
anyone remember the station hotel,Crawdaddy,, Richmond and all the beatnicks that used to lie on the grass down by the side of Richmond Bridge?donkey jackets, desert boots, black polo sweaters, coffee in the la burge, guess who?
lovely days back then, sometimes cold and hungry,go to Ellis wine merchants down the lane by the river and get a couple of empty bottles get the deposit to buy a guitar string when you think this all started thereback then.wernt we so lucky
@trollybus657 yeah, and Eel Pie where I danced to the Stones! I never knew they would become famous but I liked Jagger. And the ferry we took across, we put th emotor bike on it, it nearly sank, what a drab world it is now. Am still here, my son has an office on Eel Pie and I live in Twickers, it aint the same without rock and roll but we make our own!!!!!!!!!!
"I'm a King Bee" is a swamp blues song that has been performed and recorded by numerous blues and other artists. In 2008, Slim Harpo's "I'm a King Bee" received a Grammy Hall of Fame Award, which "honor[s] recordings of lasting qualitative or historical significance".[1]
I believe Mick is playing the harmonica because he is on Little Red Rooster. I wish I could find the Door's version too. The Stones would definitely agree that Slim Harpo's version is unsurpassed and after all he did write it.
It is now exactly 01:03 at night, and I do me the first time in ages, the German London Records CD pressing of their '64 debut album "The Rolling Stones" to - it consists of about 3/4 from very good cover versions, very blues soaked, the spirit of the times very rough and unpolished, and with pearls provided, from which "Walking the Dog"and the all-time classics stand out, "Tell me (you're coming back) ". If you like good blues, the Stones would like to learn in their early years is, look here.

@RayManzarekGod I can't find them anywhere but search for "Rock Me Baby" Chords by Hot Tuna or "Uncle Sam Blues" by Jefferson Airplane... they're pretty much the same!
@RayManzarekGod The Chord for I'm a King Bee are Emajor (E) A major (A) and B7. All chords are open chords. In the middle section a EMajor chord is played all the way through. Hope this helps.
Great song! Brian Jones on lead guitar...! He loved to play slide and he did it masterfully! May he rest in Peace, you will always be remembered as THE BEST

"I got a stinger, baby.
Long as my right arm.
It's my love machine, baby.
It won't do you no harm."
From The Doors's version :P
(which for some reason I can't find anywhere on YouTube)

Love the Stones early blues recordings but they would be the first to say no one has surpassed the original by Slim Harpo.
sharkabilly 1 year ago
@sharkabilly -Agree completely, but I think Muddy Water's version is better still than Slim Harpo's - as good as his was.
