  • Monarchy died many decades ago in Iran. Do thses people with Shir Khorsheed Flag do really think That Monarch would come back to Iran?

    Get real People.

To fight against Tyranny of Ahmadinejad, Khamenei and IRGc You do not need to carry Shir Khorsheed Flag.

Monarch in IRAN died in 70's.

  • Well I'm against monarchy in Iran, but can't still not see any problem with the Shir Khorsheed flag.

This has been the symbol for the persian empire for many many years! Having said that, i think that most (not all) ppl using this flag today are pro-monarchy.

  • @element4element4

The problem is just what u mentioned " the symbolic" value and what it represents! It seems that u r proud of the Persian Empire the way Arabs r proud of the Arab empire or Macedonians of Alexander, or Mongolians of Genghis, or Russian of Peter the great....Do u see the parallel and the irony?

  • @SayiDSE

Actually although I was born and raised in Tehran, I was never accepted as an Iranian and had never a real passport. I'm ethnically a feyli kurd.

Therefore not really a proud Persian. I think I understand your point. My point is just it is totally fine to be a nationalist in the positive sense and don't regard all old symbols as pure evil. But it's a bad thing to be nationalist in the negative sense, just see Turkey!

Lion/sun flag is fine for me as long as its not for pro-monarchy.

  • @element4element4

As long as u c my point I am satisfied, Yet I don't agree with u about "positive nationalism" I would appreciate if u give an example. As a Feili Kurd u have seen nationalism as dirty as it gets at least in Iraq, and then as a mouawed in Shah's Iran. Nationalism is "we" against "them". I am 4 WE as inclusive as man kind and the whole WORLD.

  • @SayiDSE

Indeed my family have suffered badly in Iraq duo to nationalism.

I think that my "positive/negative nationalism" terminology is non-standard.

By positive nationalism i mean being proud of own culture and history without creating "we vs. them" and thinking less of other cultures. As a minor "we" embedded in your larger "WE". :)

I think it is possible to be a proud persian/kurd/turk/dane/whatever and still respect other cultures highly.

  • @SayiDSE (part 3)

In the "positive" sense, i don't see any problem with the lion/sun-symbol. But how much people are just appreciate old persian culture OR are really using the symbol for pro-monarchy is hard to say. For me at least.

I have hard time believing all this ppl, with this flag chanting "Democracy for Iran", really have a hidden agenda of bringing back the Pahlavi-dynasty.

  • The shiro-khorshid flag has been part of the persian culture and quite frrankly it is an representative of the 3000 years of rich culture and history, this beautiful symbol gives pride and meaning to us iranians & it doesnt represent any particular party it is simply an old persian symbol with history behind it how it came about.

P.S i think u ppl need to read the history behind this flag then u can comment on it.

  • @element4element4

Well as long as u don't think of others less, u hold them as equals, we agree but we use different ways of conveying our beliefs.

    Sar ko tu bit bãvãnem!

  • @SayiDSE (part 2)

I have never been nationalistic in any way and have still a problem "defining" myself in that respect.

Living in Denmark i think it is fantastic that danes can be proud of there history and wear old viking symbols but still have the deepest respect and interest for other cultures.

Negative nationalism is when Persians begin to feel hate to Greece because of a Hollywood movie like "300" or when a country has a serious law against "insulting turkishness".

  • @element4element4

Well , u put finger on what I was trying to say all along! If u read history from other nations retrospective Danish medieval aggression, as a Danish humanitarian u would not find much to be proud of!

This goes 4 the guy proud of 3000 years history too! Ask Georgi's, Armenians, Arabs, Indians,Kurds and so on to c how they feel. u c my point!

  • &highmountainsman

Sad isn't it? Instead of looking to the future, many, the ordinary ppl r looking back as if there was anything worth keeping. We once again giving our blood to empower another blood sucker! Shah the little, Mousavi the murderer, Rafsanjani the butcher enjoying the show and no one demands "Freedom, all the power to the ppl"

Don't tell me "na tarsyd!" I am scared!
