One of the reasons this skit was much funnier than 99.9% of recent SNL skits is because she improvised a lot of this sketch. SNL sketches and any sort of sketch comedy is incredibly dependent on good writing and on SNL the writing is just not there. The writers on this show are not talented. The cast is very solid but without writing it's nearly impossible to make a funny show.
