  • Fantastic song but by Christ, how many syallables can one song have? At the ripe old age of 45, I can't remember them and even knowing them (with the help of a certain website) I'm struggling to keep up with them in front of me. Never knew they had the big guns from the Clash present.

  • fucking tune the best go B.A.D.

  • great tune still,samples are wicked !! superstar dj now !! & god bless Mick ..r & r star forever .

  • JOE freaCKING STRUMMER FOR EVER AND EVER ANDEVER MICK JONES2<3R!

  • Big Audio Dynamite was better then The Clash

  • 1985, 15 years old, laying in the bath for 2 hours listening to recordings of radio 1 ... halcyon days. Rewind, play ... rewind, play ... rewind, play...

  • @TuffLittleunit I know what you mean...

  • @TuffLittleunit I was the same mate, 15 years old laying in the bath for hours, not listening to music though, fuck the music i was too busy wanking and listening out for someone coming up the stairs. But nine times out of ten the only person coming was me. On my sisters face. Sorry, didnt i mention we bathed together. Come on, we were only kids, well i was she should of known better, she was 34 at the time.

  • @teddybundy118

    lmao, v funny!

  • @hookydoughy Did that make you smile mate? I do my best. Ear,dont know about you but in my opinion you can forget the so called "classic" albums by Led Zepp, Elton John, Dire (bleeding) Straits, Cliff (fucking) Richard and Boy(do we like it up our irish bottoms or what?)Zone, for me the best albums ever are Give um enough Rope,Rattus Norvegicus,Raw Power, Script for a Bridge(CHAMELEONS) and the lesser known first album by Ken Dodd called "I,ll pop a cap in ya ass and put ya face in ya lap bitch

  • im so glad i found this! id totally forgotten about it i really fancy the lead singer - yum!

  • love this...this is when music was music x

  • Better than todays shit music!!!!!!!!!

  • There was loads of good songs out, what i find suprising is that you was allowed access to a radio in prison.

  • Memories of STARK in Dallas

  • one of the best tunes of the 80's

  • What a classic don't make them like this anymore.

  • Yes it's a homage to Nicolas Roeg, so watch the movies and you will understand. Good on those who noticed some of the connections. But this comment will probably get drowned by the shit.

  • @doktorgriff The wikipedia article on this song has all the references. :)

  • @Onaryc59 Yeah suppose it would. Nice one, and good music

  • europhoric tune. especially that guitar hook

  • TUNE

  • loven it this is a real cool song be about 14 when this was out gd times

  • good days, pissed n fuckin around.

  • fucking magic...now shut up and just dance!!!!!!!

  • Catchiest song ever.

Trouble is this song reminds me of Stephen Hawking. Partly because its called e=mc2. And back in the 90's when he was presenting a segment on the Big Breakfast. This was playing in the intro.

  • First band I saw live, Astoria Feb 87... The best gig of all time, well to an impressionable 17 year old it was!

  • i love my mum and dad for having amazing music taste. :)

  • I always start a night out by playing this song, gets me in a good mood before the copious amounts of alcohol I consume turns me into a miserable moaning git. Awesome track, the beat just seems to keep on giving and never lets up.

  • @collieuk yea its kinda like the heartbeat you feel on a wound..

  • simply the dogs gonads!

  • fantastic

    thanks

luv to all b.a.d. fans the horses are on the tracks

  • "I don't like music..." Love this track, classic stuff.

  • My first ever single...and what a classic it turned out to be.

  • i remember this group was so fresh at the time whereas pop t those days were full of angst and passion .

  • This was the first or second 45 single I ever bought... The other was White Lines by Grandmaster Flash... Stumbling across this again, I remember how fun the eighties were...

  • @jase2042 white lines my god i am gonna listen tothis right now i had forgotten it totally

  • goodbye to the nineties eighties when you are up everybody wants your babies

  • Good song - It has The Clash influence written all over it, which isn't surprising really, but an interesting development and a very clever song all the same.

Never saw BAD, but I saw the Clash four times and they were an excellent band Live, lots of energy and anger, well performed.

    The music of a generation

  • @BlackBuckOne Saw BAD twice never saw the clash...bugger

  • fuckin h.m.p walton, gerrin, thats the jail that straightened me out. k wing, no guard from the ellements, (cold) angry twats ripped the windows off. ended up on i wing, supposed to be rehab wing n ther was more goin on than anywer else but less piss tests. had to shave evry morn. anyway, bring back bad.

  • saw them at milton keynes in 1986 fantastic.

  • fuckin superb band !!!

  • ace......!!!

  • I had an excellent psychosis with this song in '86... or am I really the new identity that must be found ??? maychristreturntoearth....

  • fucking ace

  • Da shiz man .......

  • a classic track, love it. but i do think mick acts like a bit of a nutter in the video lmao !

  • newradicals1--The song and video you asked about is called "The Bottom Line"--it is available on Youtube--thru Vevo...hope U enjoy.

  • when music was music

  • Quality.

  • brilliant,so unique when this came out, that i have heard this song 6 million times and it still sound great.even today.also like one of there other songs the horses are on the track but sadly cannot find the clip, are these guys still going around.

  • @newradicals1 i think the song ur talking about it bottom line

  • 'cunt' and 'suck my balls' lovely stuff

I'll take the pretentious blokes side

  • top notch

  • Tybeeguy1. You are such a pretentious cunt

  • i don't think i can acticulate the mirth which i embibed when reading your missive including the words 'pretenious cunt.' I thank you.

  • @wilaiwan0--I simply reply that I was analyzing the content/statements that Big Audio Dynamite was conveying in the video, and the lyrics--not 2 mention the wry humor, and how much I appreciate the song and video--and U both obviously missed my intended wry humor--which would make me sound "pretentious" unfortunately--so no offense taken:)

  • Letts became friends with Bob Marley by allowing himself into Marley's hotel room! how cool is that

  • now now calm down children,he was in the clash,so who gives a flyin fuck wat director done wat, while typin this bollox i missed the song twat gonna watch again now, suck my balls

  • It is still so gooooooooooooooooood

  • Nope: The other one is "Don't look now" 1973 with Donald Sotherland" and "the man who fell to earth 1976 with David Bowie

The song was the title song of a Nic Roeg Film. "EUREKA" That is why the pictures of his former films

  • @studiohamfar No disagreement with the film clips, ministry of the bleeding obvious, the comments related to parts of the lyrics and the samples, both of which relate to Nicholas Roeg films, if I remember correctly the video was directed by Nicholas Roeg's son, however if you look on Wikipedia it cites Nicholas Roeg the father as the director. Some of the samples are taken from the film "Performance" hence my comments.

  • Yeah the film is Performance Mick Jagger and James Fox, the other honourable mention is walkabout.

  • Nope: The other one is "Don't look now" 1973 with Donald Sotherland"

The song was the title song of a Nic Roeg Film. That is why the pictures of his former films

  • A lot of clips from Don't Look Now in this video - great movie. Great song too.

  • It certainly doesn't take a "genius"(reference 2 Einstein, others) to get Mick and Big Audio Dynamite's symbolic messages(very abrasive against the political, capitalistic powers that be--with subtle yet "in your'-or their' faces rather--bold and blatant and serious--hope I'm not "over-anlyzing"--but there is SO much going on in this video--such wry humor, yet makes scathing social/political commentary. At the end "everything falls apart-it's scientific"-everything "reconstructs"Marilyn says BYE!!

  • @tybeeguy1 bleedin brilliant man

  • that's because of the film by Nic Roeg, 1984 called EUREKA . . .

  • interesting stuff cheers

  • This is a great song so is the distinctive guitar riff.

  • con esta musica recuerdo que mis hermanas me querian matar por mis travesuras de niño, jaja q lindo tema .

  • great song

  • even if this video were muted, i could guess this singer is brit.

  • killa tune

  • TOP

  • dynamite

  • CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Anyone know what films the dialogues been taken off???

  • The clips are mostly taken from Nicolas Roeg films, like Performance starring Mick Jagger.

  • @KeepTheJoker the film is performance a strange gangster film made in 1970 with mick jagger n james fox happy mondays also used dialogue from the film on the track mad cyril

  • I can't belive I found this! Love

  • after the clash fall out and when the silly clash m11 saw sense ,joe n mick made up in jamacia,,mick asked joe to help on production of this tune they remained close(ish) mates til the end.throughout the late 80s and through the 90s joes only regret was shitting on mick n topper...and that is from the horses mouth sat round a fire getting wrecked

  • dont give a fuck love this f,,kin tune forever, love joe and clash forever ,

  • strummer wanted to reunite the clash but mick didnt want to because he had B.A.D.

  • This song is a fucking Classic! =]

  • I was in Walton Prison in Liverpool when this was out.I always thought it was about the only decent thing in the charts at that time. The Radio was by then shit with the

Stock/Aitken/Waterman shit factory.Only John Peel and the once great Annie Nightingale request show kept me from going fucking nuts.

  • @flanneryged monkey

  • @bolabus Well a MONKEY is better than a Dog Wanker like you are isn't it,??.Iron Hoofs like you would really fuck up a wet dream wouldn't you?.Go and try to get yourself laid before this Planet becomes uninhabitible with Skid Mark's like you.Shit

    Head. Bollockbus.

  • @flanneryged you wasn't listening to Billy Butler?

  • @flanneryged Bang to rights with the shit factory! Big Audio Dynamite were one of the only original bands of the 80's. I was probably going to The State when you were at Her Majesty's, but listened to the same radio. I go to Walton now to do benefits & housing; got me belt & whistle, but no cover from staff. I'd go nuts in there, & only work from a little room for a bit.

God bless John Peel; he influenced my musical taste a hell of a lot.

  • @liffey40 Tell you what I miss John Peels "Festive Fifty" as far as Walton goes you

watch yourself in there Mate.I can remember a Killer called Sam Packer,he was

on Patches and he was in for cutting somebody up with a pair of Scissors.Just looking at this nutter was enough he had "Crazy" written all over him.I was on the

Fives on G wing or Skid Row as it was known then.

  • @flanneryged Ha ha! I think we're showing our age! I still look at John Peel's Festive Fifty on the internet; it takes me on a good trip down memory lane. He had a brilliant voice for radio: I used to listen to radio in the dark, loved that lull between spoken word then riff into Otis Redding or something else. Sorry if I sound like an old git, I'm only 42!

  • @liffey40 Yes you are quite right there.I also feel very old sometimes!!.When I look

back on 25 Years and it all seems like Yesterday!!!!.I should "really" get a grip, however I enjoyed every last Minuet of it all.Cheers Bud take care of yourself.

  • @flanneryged They gave you a radio in prison? Not bad! You're like the guys in Get Carter! Cool.

  • @slvgdvg Of course they give you a f**king radio in prison! That's a luxury? Ha ha

  • @flanneryged Mentioned Festive Fifty on my Facebook Page about 2 weeks ago. No one knew what I was talking about. There's nothing like that that little bit of space in the the dark, classic radio when they used to try little known tunes along with the old favourites (used to lose count of 'Sittin on the Dock of the Bay'). When I mention bands of late 70's, early 80's, I get blank faces. I'm a bit too old for that, I'll listen to Otis Redding & a sly listen of new stuff on the side.

  • @flanneryged Biin there lad, done the exact same thing. Brilliant

  • This sounds good when youre driving in a car

  • Quality tune, one of all time favourites!!!

  • Quality tune...makes you feel good...

  • @blackiegrey those were the best days back then

  • mint!!!

  • I was wanted this Video in the Radio , I think The Smiths , But i listen song and after the name of song and the performed band. is Very Good.

  • love this and have love it for the past 20 years!!!!!! brilliant song!!!!!!!

  • TOP tune!

  • he's a right performer !!!

  • to fuck with trying to analyse any of that shit i know what music i like and that toon is fucking brilliant

  • The movie clip with Donald Sutherland is Don't Look Now

  • All the clips samples and lyrics are from/about Nic Roeg movies....

  • check out BIG AUDIO DYNAMITE appreciation society page on Facebook. Its got some good posts etc And news about the Remixed version of This Is B A D coming out very soon

  • Isn't it Teresa Russell as Marilyn?

  • Yes it is!

  • And Rob Brydon as Mick, surely?

  • An utter 80`s classic with Kim Cattrall at the end as Marilyn Monroe.......RESULT !

  • Spaceman fell from sky, scratch my head i wonder why, this is one of the best lyricy/wordy records ever made, i posted a comment ages ago about this but ya just got to add more hehe,

  • Oh my God- do I love this song! This BLOWS AWAY anything I've ever heard by the Clash or Mescaleros. There's just a quality about it...

  • Know what you're getting at mate but The Clash & Joe & The Mescaleros are bands apart. All the best bud.

  • This song uses extensive samples of the Nicolas Roeg film Performance, staring Mick Jagger.

  • also a couple of samples from Good bad and the ugly.

  • : )

  • just brillaint

  • This song was showcased in "Insignificance", a surrealistic tale of the meeting between "The Professor" and "the Movie Star", who were obviously modeled on Albert Einstein and Marylin Monroe. Old movie set in Venice is "Don't Look Now" , a horror flick about a couple who mistake a serial killer dwarf for the ghost of their dead daughter. Spacey scenes are from David Bowie's "The Man Who Fell to Earth", about an alien who comes to Earth in order to save his planet, which is running out of water.

  • great track

  • Great song and classic British Teeth

  • Remember this song in 86 what film was this the soundtrack to ?

  • Comment removed

  • It samples heavily from the 1969 film Performance, and i think it was on the sountrack to Ferris Buellers day off.

  • I met mick! Lovely man.

  • How lucky you are! (:

  • I met Don Letts last year. I always wanted to meet him since I was 14

  • strummer did not appear on this album but did most of the second album with mick jones again . & it was just as good .

    (nearly) ;)

  • had a chat with don couple of months ago...what a nice bloke.....that whole west london music scene would have not been the same without him......the music i grew up with......good on ya mate..micozmic

  • Beat it, I dare you!

  • good tune...r.i.p joe..

  • joe wasn't in big audio dynamite

  • Mick Jones ....NOT Strummer

  • Mick Jones and Don Letts can it get any better.

  • muito bom bons tempos

  • Whenever I hear this, I have nostalgic romantic memories of Rik Mayall, because Living Doll was in the charts round about the same time. But Big Audio Dynamite's singer was actually quite hot in his own right.

  • Great track! But hate the little dwarf from Dont Look Now...still scares the s**t outta me now!!!!!

  • heard this on absolute radio this morning - brilliant!

  • This song is punk-poetry in motion...a true classic--amazing video with subtle meanings and blatant comments as well. It makes political/social/economic statement-and to end with such wit/humor! Bye...

  • I think the track by Red Box 'For America' was pretty similar in that way

  • This is one of those amazing classic songs that you NEVER hear on the radio anymore - even the nostalgic ones. T

  • I'm giving you the thumbs up mate.

    Imagine this with radio overplay...no

  • Mick Jones - what a legend !! How dumb can you get that The Clash sacked him? Then again, we may never have heard this gem.

  • strummer said he had two regrets -sacking mick and topper

  • This song is just classic. no buts about it.

  • ace aint it love x

  • god this takes me back......still good

  • cool song

  • Awesome tune, reminds me of few good moments about high school
