Fantastic song but by Christ, how many syallables can one song have? At the ripe old age of 45, I can't remember them and even knowing them (with the help of a certain website) I'm struggling to keep up with them in front of me. Never knew they had the big guns from the Clash present.
1985, 15 years old, laying in the bath for 2 hours listening to recordings of radio 1 ... halcyon days. Rewind, play ... rewind, play ... rewind, play...
@TuffLittleunit I was the same mate, 15 years old laying in the bath for hours, not listening to music though, fuck the music i was too busy wanking and listening out for someone coming up the stairs. But nine times out of ten the only person coming was me. On my sisters face. Sorry, didnt i mention we bathed together. Come on, we were only kids, well i was she should of known better, she was 34 at the time.
@hookydoughy Did that make you smile mate? I do my best. Ear,dont know about you but in my opinion you can forget the so called "classic" albums by Led Zepp, Elton John, Dire (bleeding) Straits, Cliff (fucking) Richard and Boy(do we like it up our irish bottoms or what?)Zone, for me the best albums ever are Give um enough Rope,Rattus Norvegicus,Raw Power, Script for a Bridge(CHAMELEONS) and the lesser known first album by Ken Dodd called "I,ll pop a cap in ya ass and put ya face in ya lap bitch
Yes it's a homage to Nicolas Roeg, so watch the movies and you will understand. Good on those who noticed some of the connections. But this comment will probably get drowned by the shit.
Trouble is this song reminds me of Stephen Hawking. Partly because its called e=mc2. And back in the 90's when he was presenting a segment on the Big Breakfast. This was playing in the intro.
I always start a night out by playing this song, gets me in a good mood before the copious amounts of alcohol I consume turns me into a miserable moaning git. Awesome track, the beat just seems to keep on giving and never lets up.
This was the first or second 45 single I ever bought... The other was White Lines by Grandmaster Flash... Stumbling across this again, I remember how fun the eighties were...
Good song - It has The Clash influence written all over it, which isn't surprising really, but an interesting development and a very clever song all the same.
Never saw BAD, but I saw the Clash four times and they were an excellent band Live, lots of energy and anger, well performed.

I was in Walton Prison in Liverpool when this was out.I always thought it was about the only decent thing in the charts at that time. The Radio was by then shit with the

@flanneryged Bang to rights with the shit factory! Big Audio Dynamite were one of the only original bands of the 80's. I was probably going to The State when you were at Her Majesty's, but listened to the same radio. I go to Walton now to do benefits & housing; got me belt & whistle, but no cover from staff. I'd go nuts in there, & only work from a little room for a bit.
God bless John Peel; he influenced my musical taste a hell of a lot.
@liffey40 Tell you what I miss John Peels "Festive Fifty" as far as Walton goes you
watch yourself in there Mate.I can remember a Killer called Sam Packer,he was
on Patches and he was in for cutting somebody up with a pair of Scissors.Just looking at this nutter was enough he had "Crazy" written all over him.I was on the
@flanneryged Ha ha! I think we're showing our age! I still look at John Peel's Festive Fifty on the internet; it takes me on a good trip down memory lane. He had a brilliant voice for radio: I used to listen to radio in the dark, loved that lull between spoken word then riff into Otis Redding or something else. Sorry if I sound like an old git, I'm only 42!
@liffey40 Yes you are quite right there.I also feel very old sometimes!!.When I look
back on 25 Years and it all seems like Yesterday!!!!.I should "really" get a grip, however I enjoyed every last Minuet of it all.Cheers Bud take care of yourself.
@flanneryged Mentioned Festive Fifty on my Facebook Page about 2 weeks ago. No one knew what I was talking about. There's nothing like that that little bit of space in the the dark, classic radio when they used to try little known tunes along with the old favourites (used to lose count of 'Sittin on the Dock of the Bay'). When I mention bands of late 70's, early 80's, I get blank faces. I'm a bit too old for that, I'll listen to Otis Redding & a sly listen of new stuff on the side.

Spaceman fell from sky, scratch my head i wonder why, this is one of the best lyricy/wordy records ever made, i posted a comment ages ago about this but ya just got to add more hehe,
This song was showcased in "Insignificance", a surrealistic tale of the meeting between "The Professor" and "the Movie Star", who were obviously modeled on Albert Einstein and Marylin Monroe. Old movie set in Venice is "Don't Look Now" , a horror flick about a couple who mistake a serial killer dwarf for the ghost of their dead daughter. Spacey scenes are from David Bowie's "The Man Who Fell to Earth", about an alien who comes to Earth in order to save his planet, which is running out of water.
had a chat with don couple of months ago...what a nice bloke.....that whole west london music scene would have not been the same without him......the music i grew up with......good on ya mate..micozmic
Whenever I hear this, I have nostalgic romantic memories of Rik Mayall, because Living Doll was in the charts round about the same time. But Big Audio Dynamite's singer was actually quite hot in his own right.
This song is punk-poetry in motion...a true classic--amazing video with subtle meanings and blatant comments as well. It makes political/social/economic statement-and to end with such wit/humor! Bye...

Bye...

I think the track by Red Box 'For America' was pretty similar in that way

Mick Jones - what a legend !! How dumb can you get that The Clash sacked him? Then again, we may never have heard this gem.
