  • what are easier to take care of rats or mice???

  • To people saying don't buy it from a pet store I live in Australia and around here our rats from pet stores come from local breeders not feeder industries so there already tame and loved when you buy them :D

  • I reeeaaaly want a pet rat and this has taught me a lot aswell as all your other videos :) thankyou

  • take your shirt off!!! no you have rats as pets....

  • 1:06 MONSTER!!!

  • feed it to a snake

  • Teeth do not get filed down by age. Their teeth will keep growing unless they have specific toys and things to gnaw on to keep their teeth at the right size. My brother had a rat whose teeth overgrew and had to be taken to a vet to file them down. Same thing with mice. There is also special foods that will keep their teeth at the size they're supposed to be.

  • There's lots of free pet-rats in the alley behind my building!

  • every time i get my pet rat out the cage it poos EVERY WHERE

  • Couple of things here...

She said her first rat is 18 months old so could only have had it for about 16 months. She can't possibly be an expert. It shows because she thinks teeth get 'filed down by age', even though their teeth constantly grow.

Another thing is that she recommends going to pet stores, even though they're supplied by the feeder breeder industry and bred in disgusting conditions. You should never get rats from a pet shop. Ever. Anyone who says you should doesn't research.

  • GEEZ WOMEN GET THAT RAT OUT OF YOUR CLEAVEGE!

  • and they r enemies

  • hahahahahahahahhahaahahahahaha its funny how its about rat and suddenly a CAT appears lol

  • CAT!!!!!!!

  • you should adopt the ones that are beat up... save them from a terrible life...

  • @Glitche333 Yes!! I think it is better that way... at least they would get a week of love as compared to a day of misery...

  • you know rats are smarter than hamster

  • That pink shirt......................

  • @brenlyz Did she film these on the same day?

  • i have a rat thats 7

  • her rat has some GIGANTIC BALLS

  • only 18 months to 2 years? I know someone who has a 7 year old rat.

  • i want a pet rat but my mom does not like rats reply plz i need edvise to show her that rats are really cool

  • @ThatwasTERRIBLE domesticated rats are as clean as cats and carry less diseases than cats or dogs... you're a moron.

  • I wish my mum would let me have a pet rat they look and sound lovely, can you do a how to get your parents to get u a rat hopefully I will have one by chirstmas hopelfully

  • Ive had rats since i was 5 and ive had them since. The last rat i had, kaya, lived 4 and a half years. Even though that age isnt common, its still a posibility.

You cant forget that rats are very prone to carrying tumors towards the end of their life span.

  • oh sht that cat came out of no where lol

  • It's tail is disgusting.

  • @TheRaspberryHoney I've always wondered why people think their tail is disgusting. I'm not at all saying you're wrong or anything (you can't be wrong since it's just a matter of taste really) but why do you think it's disgusting?

Mostly I hear "because it's bald(ish)" and "It feels so scaly".

    So I'm curious :)

  • @FHomeBrew First of all I'm not a big fan of rats or mice...at all. I don't even like hamsters (some kinds of rodents are cute though) so...ok...their tails? I've never touched one but it does look scaly and it's like a huge thick piece of string only that it's not string it's a rat's tail!! I know I'm not making much sens but it's tail just makes me very nervous...

  • @TheRaspberryHoney That's oké, you're certainly not the only one :p I bought some new rats today and even the lady at the pet store was anxious to handle them. Oddly enough, she did have pet snakes...

  • @FHomeBrew I guess I'm more traditional when it comes to pets...I've owned cats, dogs and my "weirdest" pet has been a rabbit (a Holland Lop..it was actually my sister's pet...as cute as it was it still made a little nervous because she was fragile lol I did loved her and petted her but idk, I wouldn't get a bunny for myself today)...

  • how old are rats when they can leave the mama rat

  • I chose my second rat because I was the only one he would let pick him up and i could flip him on his back and give him a tummy rub when i first picked him up. I think she's treating her rats wrong because all my friend's rats lived to about 4-5 years.

  • Now see I don't agree with the young rat thing. I think you should get a rat you connect with. And besides, what older rat wants to be left out of a loving home just because of his age? It's not right. :(

  • expert village can suck it

  • @t3hm00kz Err Why?

  • you can also find pet rats by setting up cages in old farms. not reccomended lol

  • I had a rat named Tar too. She was a wild colour female and my first rat together with Vera (after a Dutch book character Vera the mouse). I still miss her :)

  • Comment removed

  • lok at the pic before u click on this video... it looks like shes picking up the rat by its head LOL but its acc the cat in the bg!!

  • at 1:05 the video become a horror movie revenge of the kitty

  • Dose any one know with hair less rats do you have to clean them any different ??

  • @stardel6, YOu don't need to clean any rats. They clean themselfs. Hairless rats aren't very different than rats with hair.

  • @WhyImAwsome Thank you

  • @stardel6, Any time(:

  • @WhyImAwsome

My rats didn't clean themselves, they fought and had a bloody fur many times, I still dunno why they fought, cage was big...

  • Is that a Brooklyn New York accent? She's hot :)

  • Your accent is AWESOME xD

  • My rats always lived about 3 years. I have a dumbo rat thats 4 years and 2 weeks old.

  • I thought rats lived an average of 3yrs?

  • only 18 months to 2 years damn my heart couldnt handle that

  • @crotchshotradioshow it's more like 2-4 years. C: no worries. you'll get a little more love than that.

  • thinkin of buying two from a reptile store too. save them from premature death.

  • Aww rats are so fucking cool, I hated them until I started looking at them. Getting one tomorrow, :)

  • they only live 18 months to 2 years??????

  • so i shouldnt just pick one up at the local L train and give him a little bath?

  • Um expert? really ? a rat lives 3 to 5 years

  • well i have a pet Rat. i left it on the shelf lol i thought that he is intelligent when i came back i lost him. after looking everywhere i found him in the Closet. That Satan will pay for it stupid rat

  • Suddenly, cat!

  • hey guys I need help I want to get two pet rats but I already have two cats my mum thinks its a bad idea I said that I would keep them in my room. the cats are not allowed upstairs therefore, they won`t be near them. any other suggestions?

  • @ZoozeTheHedgehog make sure you do you research on pet rats and maek sure yo know what mill the rat is from if you are getting it from a petstore if your getting it from family make sure you know the back ground and that they are in good shape as for you cats if they ever get in your room have the cage high so the cat can't get to the rats cage BUT MAKE SURE THE RATS CAGE CAN NOT FALL that will hurt or kill your rat i have had one rat.for a few months now.rat make good pets

  • @TheYogHurt42

She means that's the first one she got. She has many other cages in the background.

  • i have grown attached to rats, my friend has the cutest albino rat on Earth

  • She calls herself an expert... But one of the first things she says is that this is her first pet rat. If you haven't owned rats for more than a rats' lifetime, don't call yourself an expert. -.-

  • There lifespan is more like 2 to 4 years... :)

  • i want a rat but my mom is scaird of them :p

  • i got rats from a pet store they awesome they can do tricks

  • Only two years?! D: D: noooo

  • I'm getting two baby rats in a few weeks (they were just born a week ago) and I'm so excited!

  • I rescued my rats from a feeder store. They were so healthy when I got them. But it was overcrowded. I rescued another rat when my brother tried feeding one to his snake. Why can't we nurse rats back to health too? They are not permanently sick or anything so why can't we heal them? Do you think we are honestly to stupid to handle that? I've nursed rats back to health before. And cats. Do think its seriously okay to let all the sick ones wither and sicken in the cages wanting to die? NO!!!!!!!!!

  • i am getting a rat and i am very excited to get one because mine passed away last year and i really want another one cuz i lov ethem

  • rats are NOT low matinence... >.<

  • She has a couple rats then a cat...Not a good mix!!!!!!!1

  • @NikkiAndHaleyShow Says who? My cat could care less about my rat and I often have them out together on my bed at the same time. Cats aren't all cut out of the same mold, they all have different personalities.

  • @twilightfirefly

My cat kitty hated my rat Max

  • @NikkiAndHaleyShow Like I said, each cat is unique. =)

  • Why are your cages so small?

  • you're hot

  • Do we need to have 2 rats when we buy or it dosent matter??

  • @StyleShawn u should get two or more. dont get one

  • if you want actual good rat advice dont listen to her listen to laurie routhier just type in sf spca in the bar and find the video on rat care!!

  • Not all pet stores are alike. Do your research and support intelligent local pet stores in your area who actually care about the animals they are bringing into this world. A GOOD pet store educates their customers and does not support unhealthy breeding practices. I feel bad for people who do not have this option. Unfortunately there are a lot of pet stores out there doing the wrong thing.

  • what do you mean by the eyes being clear?

  • total milf

  • 1:07

She's not going to hurt him but she can't speak for the cat lol

  • I buy from pet stores to feed snakes :)

  • 1:08 there's a cat ! & you think you know how to take care of rats . wtf ?

  • Um, they live 2-3 years. They even have the potential to live four to five years.

  • I don't care what this lady has to say, I just want to see little cute rats.

  • Holy Fuck! A CAT! RUN RAT, RUN!

  • 1:06 hahahahahaha idk y that part made me laugh

  • @petratsrock thanks for info i think ill buy a male rat :)

  • well my oldest rat was 8 years old

  • i wanna get a rat but i dont want it to get a tumor.is there anyway to avoid that???

  • @ezekiel207 That's like saying I want to get a cat but I don't want it to get a tumor. Tumors can happen and there is no sure fire way to prevent it. it's simple, if you don't have the facilities or resources to take proper care of a rat in any case and are unable to bring it to a vet, DON'T GET ONE.

  • i like the part when the cat just walks in

  • I don't know where my nearest rat breeder is what shall I do?

  • @candosar1, Adopt! ;D

  • @candosar1 go to any Pet Store near you they should have some and im pretty sure PetSmart and PetCo have rats at every store they have

  • You should NOT buy rats from pet shops!

  • @EmilyLuvsRats Boycotting never works.. it just doesn't.

  • Crazy rat lady.

  • @LAROCKCHIQUEE i've never owned a rat, but i've been doing a lot of research into it, and i'm hopefully going to be getting 2 fancies soon :) from what i've read and heard from a breeder, it's best to get the same rats that have been together in their cage at wherever u go. i highly suggest going to a breeder, because the rats are more loving, and are loved more than those at pet stores. their personalities are a lot different and diverse, and they get along with everyone :3

  • Rats do not live for 5-6 years. The oldest rat I've ever known was 4 and a half. My oldest was 43 months. The people who say they had a rat live for 5-7 years are either a. lying, b. mistaken (eg their parents replaced their pet when it died) or c. have poor memory. The average (in the UK) is 2, some make it to 3 but it is not common for them to exceed that. Not even from a responsible breeder. This lady is a poor "expert", as others have said - check out Fancy Rats website.

  • @LisaLQ she said 18 months - 2 years not 5-6

  • what is she saying..my rat lived 6 years lol

  • @WTFamItalking SIX YEARS?.. Dude.. that's not possible?

  • my rat acts like a dog..... =/

  • Hahaha... I love how she instructs us on how to properly hold a rat, but does the complete opposite, almost, through out the whole video..., so basically do the opposite of what she does... haha

  • AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! I TAUGHT I TAW A PUTTY CAT!

  • Noticed the cat I'n background isn't your cat a problem that's why I'm not getting rats as I have a cat and fear it mite cause the rats stress

  • I am possibly getting a pet rat but should i get a female or a male?

  • @ChanelNumba19

that depends on what you want in a rat. Would you prefer a rat that is laid back, that will sit on your shoulder and lie in your lap (male) or would you prefer an active playful rat who is constantly moving (female). I've had females and in my opinion they are absolutely wonderful but females have the risk of mammary tumors.

  • @HidanxRaksha Oh kay I didn't expect male rats to be chill and relaxed and the females the exact opposite, I do got to ask why are females more active then males? I am looking at getting a Male rat and I did noticed in the pet store the Males are sleeping and the females were on wheel. lol

  • @HidanxRaksha Female rats have a risk of being pregnant if you buy them at a pet store. I am sticking with male animals.

  • @ChanelNumba19 female is best because they are more calm......

  • @ThePythonDude

You know I was thinking the same thing. I was like oh damn the rat is in trouble.

  • 1:06 dum dum dum

  • if i were you, i would feed it to my python.

    I FRIGGIN HATE RATS!

  • I want to know if rats can be trained to shit in an especific place, or they shit every spot they want? please I want to know this

  • @KnoVik22

You can actually litter train a rat. Rats ten to go in a single area of their cage. When you see what area that is, you can place a 'litter box' there and place a few of their droppings in it. That should encourage them to go only in the box. If they still have a little problem going there, watch for when your rat starts to do his buisness, pick him up, and place him on the box. Problem should be solved.

  • This woman is an idiot. Look at fancy-rats.co.uk

I'm not spamming I'm pointing to a very good site.

  • @bastardfingers

    The website is unavailable =/

  • @TheToxicVoid Yes. Temporary probs. Not sure what but they warned about it and said it won't be too long. Maybe see you there!

  • You should say that it is important to buy at least 2 rats. Rats are animals needing other rats, oer else they will take psychical damage.

  • I have two pet rats: Simon and Pinky. They will never see the cat (i hope not). Only time the dogs can see them is while they are in their cage where they are home and the dog can't bother them. My dogs are afraid of the rats actually.

  • My rats will never meet the cat.

  • All rats are just the same where ever you get them. why don't you recommend certain books or other videos. You don't know everything. I don't think you know how to perform surgery now do you? Besides you videos are wrong and way too basic compared to our advanced minds. Your errors are big ones too. And people tell you what to say. Real experts tell you what to say so you don't really know. Tar is your FIRST rat and he is 10 months old. So you clearly don't know that much correct facts about rat

  • Yes, like everyone says it's bad to get from a pet store. But do u want those little helpless intelligent loving creatures dying where no one loves them? Who cares if they are from rat mills, yes, it's sad, but, every rat should be loved no matter where they come from.

  • @katniss11 I agree but if you buy them then that would give business to the mills. Thus, more rats would be sold. But hey, I think it is better to just buy them.

  • @katniss11 That may seem logical but in reality you are just supporting the pet stores, mills, etc. And helping their business grow and to become more popular. You are part of the problem. Trying to buy them all from those places thinking you are helping is doing the opposite. It is no solution - kind of like thinking if you buy enough drugs, they will eventually not be on the street anymore. It is a sad reality but you can. Not. Save. Them. All. And you must realize this if you truly love them.

  • @katniss11

except the rats that come from MARS

  • @katniss11 Why is it bad to get from a pet store and where else should you get them?

  • @bobbysaysyo If you get them from a pet store their parents are 1. Most likely used for breeding and sick, so the rat you choose will likely be sick as well. 2. They aren't going to be friendly because they haven't been handled by humans, where as if you get them from a breeder their handled from once they open their eyes.

  • @katniss11 your missing the point. The reason why its because it encourages Mills, They don't care about health, meaning more un healthy and suffer rats. Also adopting them means more room for more rats. Its awful when you buy from them you encourage them to continue!. Thats why we discourage from pet stores

  • @katniss11 i agree but if you buy from these stores, you are just supporting the mills, they will just produce more and more rats. we can put a seize to mills and you won't see sick, suffering, over breed rats in the stores any longer, if we do our research on the 'breeders' the pet stores are getting their rats from

  • the way she says dog made me laugh...

  • Comment removed

  • Stupid person! Don't ever buy rats form pet stores! They come from rat farms/mills and are always unhealthy and sick and often inbred. Always buy from a responsible breeder!!!!!! D:<

  • If your rats are only living a year and a half to two years, then you're seriously lacking in terms of providing proper care. The average lifespans minimum 2 upto 4 years. exceptions permitting.

  • They only live 18 months to 2 years if you suck at taking care of rats.A well taken care of rat can live up to 5 years and sometimes more. But the world record for oldest pet rat is 7 years and 4 months. My first pair of rat, I got almost 6 years ago. One died earlier this year and the other is still very healthy and active. If you do your research, watch their health and diet, and listen to experienced rat owners' advice, I think they can live a good long while.

  • wat a cute cat

  • Dont get your rats from a pet shop - go to a good rescue or breeder, that way you dont need to worry about scaring them because they'll be well handled. Rats dont live for 5 years, either, the average age is 2, but some will reach 3 or a little more, but this is not the norm.

  • @LisaLQ i get my rats from the sewer.

  • @LisaLQ really .. i had a gerbil that lived for 5 years

  • never buy from a pet store, they aren't handled and most tend to die early or are aggressive! buy from a breeder, or adopt from a rescue !

  • @SassyMustang1980

I don't think there's any reason not to get rats from a store. I've gotten all my rats from Petsmart. Then again, there's no other options where I live. I've never had any trouble with mine and after the first few days, they warmed right up to me.

  • @TheOneThatYouLoathe its because rats from pet stores come from rat mills , where they are bred regardless of health and temperament, Yes some are super sweet and healthy but most only live up to 2 years. vs 5-6 yrs a breeder can give you..and some don't warm up and have temperament problems, vs babies raised from day one by hand from a breeder.. if you find a breeder, compare adopt one from them and see the difference its HUGE!!

  • @ryanlorcs

not you if you clean their cages

  • Never get it from pet stores. Go to the humane society first...

  • that rat would look good in me snakes stomach

  • I'm so weird...I always go for the deformed animals...I suppose it's because I want them to have a happy life before they...you know...die...

  • @thelaramb good on you :)

I hope you have a very good life :)

  • @thelaramb

Maybe you should get a hairless, then. They're not deformed, but they're less popular than their furry counterparts and some people find them ugly.

Though I think they're just charming. Like a little pink fairy. ><

  • your from chicago or sumthin....

  • rats live 5 years! What are you doing to your poor little rats woman!?!?!?!

  • @Lucareo some species of rats to.... most don't

  • Its not good to advise people to get animals from pet shops, they come from rodent farms and are poorly bred, with the parents being bred from constantly then getting chucked in with the snakes once they are done breeding :(

  • The average lifespan of a rat in Norway is 18 months. It's not because the owners treat their rats badly, it's actually because the breeding have gone terribly wrong. Rats are getting diseases and I lost mine at only 1 year of age because of it. Tumors, sneezing, bleeding from their eyes - you name it.

  • You can also get a rat in the New York City subway system.

These rats will come up to you and eat out of your hand and willingly go home with you.

  • @DarkTrades funny cause she sounds like shes from that area (NY)... 1:03 she says "dwog" xD

  • @DarkTrades those are full of desease though. I'd go to a pet store first.

  • @grettagrids He may have been joking.

  • i dont have a rat but i am getting a couple and i have eben doing my research and she seems to be saying very different info to what i have heard from other places she clearly didnt research them correctly x

  • mice look way better thou

  • my pet rat loves to run around and explore he likes to play games and escape from his gage when i clean it. i was just curiouse can anyone help me figure out what species of rat he is please post a vid to tell me what features to look for

  • my pet rat loves to run around and explore he likes to play games and escape from his gage when i clean it. i was just curiouse can anyone help me figure out what species of rat he is

  • Mhm! People love to look at the rats, they like them, see if they like you back...Then you buy!! they're so cute!

  • Rats can live up to 7 years dick head

  • @chellybelly123 You're a fucking RETARD!

  • @OreoCrumbles It's actually not unheard of it jsut requires like crazy amounts of care and knowledge and it's very abnormal haha

  • i`m thinking about getting a rat or a a mouce as a pet but i dont know which who is the easiest to take care of ..... someone who knows ?

  • To any new pet rat owner watching this womans videos. She is not an expert. 70% of the information she gives you will make your rats VERY unhappy. She doesn't even know the breed of her rat, nor how to hold him. Look on other websites or any other place, DO NOT listen to her.

  • Thumbs up if you were looking at her boobs and not the rat XD
