After slavery it was used to keep the slaves at an economic disadvantage so the share cropping system could continue the economic advantage, with the passage of time it became excepted until the 1900’s. The Black slave owners is true and I’ll be happy to post names if you would like. So in the end the US slavery system benefited the wealthy.

@jim49217As for a book “Black slaveowners: free Blacks slave masters in South Carolina, 1790-1860” by Larry Koger is one of the best books that documents this, he relies on official records of the day and is full of documented black slave owners and clearly shows they used their slaves just as the white men did. sickening90 I would like to see your proof blacks did not own slaves? @sickening90 You fail to understand, slavery was and is based on economic gain, it was 200 years ago and today. The racism was used to justify the slavery. After slavery it was used to keep the slaves at an economic disadvantage so the share cropping system could continue the economic advantage, with the passage of time it became excepted until the 1900’s. The Black slave owners is true and I’ll be happy to post names if you would like. So in the end the US slavery system benefited the wealthy.

@jim49217 You're making an unsophisticated argument. Slavery obviously is a system of economic exploitation used by many societies throughout history. Yet U.S. slavery is distinct for a number of reasons. Unlike all preceding forms of slavery (including roman and greek), american slavery took place in the context of a representative democracy. You're actually proving my point for me, by admitting that U.S. slavery was distinct because it victimized only black people.

Peer-reviewed literature means other historians will look at your crazy revisionist history and judge whether or not it's reliable. Pointing to a Census is not the same as a consensus among recognized historical authorities. Recognized means your Klan's Grand Wizard won't cut it. A government document by itself can't express the consensus of historians.
