In 1962, we lived in Bandra, Bombay. Subir Sen moved in on the same floor, and I spoke to him for a few minutes. He had returned to Bombay. After recording this song, he went back to Calcutta, but the success of this song made him return. He was a very pleasant young man. I was 20 then. I am 70 now. This video song brought back a nice memory.
Ya I agree with ojhaskm. Probably this was because of the presence of Hemanta Mukhopadhyay( Kumar) who had a similar voice but a little more base tone.
I was waiting for this song. Being an NCC Cadet myself, it brings back memories. The movie I guess was made just after the tragic war of 1962. NCC training was mandatory, the nation required some morale boosting, perhaps this was the intention of this song as well.
What an enchanting voice. But Subir Sen was not a choice against the stalwarts like Rafi, Mukesh and Manna Dey. We missed this beautiful and silky voice.
@ojhaskm -except Manna Dey, please dont compare singers many in this columns have said, nobody can sing like him or her when god gives birth to some he gives birth to the other who can give a tuogh time to people, no one is extra ordinary, ser per sava ser hai hee ye mat bhulna
i saw this as a small boy.
