I can't think of many matches that Haas choked away. Rather, I think that getting to #1 requires tunnelvision and certain sacrifices, i.e. the ladies. Sampras always had and Roger has a steady girlfriend, which limited their distractions. Guys like Tommy and Marat have different priorities.

I don't think they even keep stats on matches lost after having match point. But everyone chokes from time to time - even Federer has lost matches after having match point, or after being up 2 sets. I think Tommy lost in the Olympics after having matchpoint, but no other such losses come to mind. I do recall however that Courier did choke quite a bit, e.g. blew a 2 set to love lead in 92 Brussels, the 95 Australian, and the 96 French and Australian.
