  • I want a minituere karl pilkington with big eyes in cage + he has to be crying 24/7

  • @serenaut101

what? the english didn't come to britain. they emerged as a weird mix of people as the country emerged out of the many separate kingdoms that had existed until Norman Bill came and practically made the country french!

that language there evolved in parts of those kingdoms on the east coast below the Wash, and it looks less like welsh than you think.

  • i tottaly agree with him!

  • i want my own karl pilkinton. i'll feed him, give him toys, a nice cage with a toilet.. wait.. something's wrong.... oh yeah and a leash!

  • @serenaut101 One country moved on though, didn't it?

  • @serenaut101 you are no better than you portray english people, any reasonable person could see that. you have not got evidence that all english people with a bit of success think there masters of the univers, calm down if its alright for you to talk bollocks about people then its alright if karl does.

  • @serenaut101 where is the evidence that all english people that get a bit of success think that?

  • Hes has a point.

  • Whilst I normally think that Karl's ideas are funny and not ill-meaning, I have to say, as a Welshman, that this has hit a nerve. Firstly, he says that we 'switch' to speaking welsh as soon as an Englishman walks in. I can confidently say that I speak welsh to my friends and family 80% of the time. Also, he correctly indicates that we are not a tribe. That is because we have developed into a nation with a separate culture, language and different political ideologies to 'England'. Cymru am byth!

  • @serenaut101 Grandma, sweetheart ;)

  • @serenaut101 Dude, it's just Youtube, there's no need to let people wind you up that bad, and certainly no need to humourlessly insult a whole country simply because of one person's comment on a web site.

  • Love it when people get all lar di dar on YouTube , it's funny this, only a joke ;)

  • I love Ricky`s laugh I can`t help but crack up when he laughs.

  • Karl is right though! I live in Wales but don't speak welsh but when you walk in to a pub they flick to welsh! IT'S NOT A TRIBE LOL

  • ni allai ddeall beth mae Karl yn ddweud!

  • shut up carl im welsh and im bloody proud we kicked englands ass in rugby so he can piss off

  • the Welsh language was clearly invented by a dad who lost at scrabble

  • @limsniff fuck off at least i can speak two languages cachu bant (translation FUCK OFF)

  • @IONZZIE

It's a joke!! Joke made by Jimmy Carr...

  • @limsniff dont ceare fuck jimmy carr he cant speak welsh .

  • Im Welsh, we are forced to do welsh GCSE but we dont use the language!!!

  • i do think that all but Carl is not right all the time I have yet to see him not mean well or to be mean or to poke a man when he is down . The other two men would take great pleasure in poking a wounded animail or man. i think Carl is meaning that it would be best if humans all spoke the same language which would be good. I tend to wish we all spoke one language but i think that is only to be in the next world . Well we are here lving on this Earth i think save Welsh history

  • @bill739 I really believe Karl just simply thinks that because Wales and England are on the same small bit of land, the Welsh should speak English because England is bigger than Wales and occupies it - end of story. He doesn't take into account that Wales is its own country with its own culture and language, etc. It's apart of the UK because England made it so, so therefore fall in line with England please. Again, he's not being malicious but he's just a bit ignorant.

  • @thewickedfae oh yeah well wales whooped engladns ass in rugby bitch!

  • @IONZZIE What does that have to do with.. anything in the entire world? I didn't say anything against Wales. Wtf.

  • @IONZZIE I think you should reread my comments and note when I said "Karl." I was explaining Karl's thought process on the Welsh, not going off on a random rant of my own. I was obviously explaining Karl to someone who didn't see where Karl was going wrong. The comment thread from that is huge. I dunno why you read one bit of it then started yelling at someone...

  • @IONZZIE Your comment is funnier than the video itself!

  • @thewickedfae Though to be fair to him, most Welsh people can't even speak Welsh and plenty of Welsh comedians make jokes about it being a pointless language that nearly no one speaks.

  • @thewickedfae But the innocence that Carl brings to the table is quite refreshing some times. Besides some nationalistic good gut feeling that Welsh brings to the person speaking it... What is the point of it? Are there people in younger generations who can learn Welsh and just live knowing that, or do they need English to be able to get jobs etc?

  • @CheapWannabe The point of it is that it is their native language and always has been. They're a separate country from England. Why would they drop their language? It's not their fault that they're apart of the UK. If they weren't we wouldn't be talking about it. The rest of Europe hasn't dropped their languages. You could make the argument that many countries should drop their language and just speak English since it's often needed in many fields of work around the world.

  • @thewickedfae That's the whole point of what Carl with his stupid innocence said. Why would they not drop the language? Why would the rest Europe not drop their languages. To be honest, there would be no REAL reason for me to know Lithuanian if everyone spoke English in the country. The point is that 'native' is not a point. It's just a tradition, useful up to a point and then what? That is the whole fun part of this situation :D It's very bizarree

  • @CheapWannabe That may be how you see things b/c you think English is the most important as it's so widely spoken in trade but it is ranked at #3 on the most spoken languages worldwide. Would you tell #1 and #2 that they should really abandon their pointless language and speak English to speed things up for you? Would you like it if they told you to give it up? It's all relative. English is your language so you'd like to see people speak it so you understand but others feel the same about theirs

  • @thewickedfae I don't think English is the most important language, nor is English MY language. It's my second language that I have been using only for 9 years. Would I like if they told me to give up? Hell no! But as much I am sad for the language that we lose (on average one every two weeks) I am fascinated & acknowledge that they die because they are no longer useful.

  • @thewickedfae Stop talking crap & give me a reason besides sentimental/nationalism why Welsh is needed. Comparing it to English is stupid as they're not on the same scale. Compare it to Wayuu language. Closer number of speakers. Why should Wayuu language survive extinction? What is the point of having Wayuu? Why should you teach it to children?

  • @CheapWannabe I've explained my reasons and if you don't feel they're valid reasons then you don't. You've said you feel the world should speak English. Ok. World will eventually be a bland hodgepodge

  • @thewickedfae For fuc*** sake English is not my native tongue nor I wish the world to speak it. I am merely intrigued by the lack of clear reason why small languages should survive into the future. Your reason is 'to retain culture,' but the way I see with my own language/culture is that popular culture (music, foods, television, art, fashion) from abroad change the lifestyles, and slowly the language. Not the other way around.

  • @CheapWannabe Welsh is not as obsolete in Wales as Middle England likes to make out. Around 1 in 10 people in Wales count Welsh as their first language and there are areas where there are higher concentrations of Welsh speakers than others (There are parts of North Wales for example where up to 70% of the people are Welsh speakers). You have to know the history of Wales to understand why the language is such an emotive subject.

  • @CheapWannabe Also, language is often at the heart of a culture. Once abandoned, the culture tends to go with it. Would you really want a bland world like that? Sounds incredibly awful.

  • @thewickedfae I don't want a world like that? I just think Karl strips away bullshit emotions & sentiments and tells it like it is. I would love Welsh to prosper as all other languages including my own (which I have to admit will not). But that does not mean I can't think about what purpose Welsch or other languages with similar fate serve. I like to think. Questioning things makes me more curious & amazed about life.

  • @CheapWannabe Many people around the world learn English as a second language just as many Welsh people do because it's often needed for various reasons but they don't then abandon their first language because it is somehow made pointless for some reason I don't understand.

  • @thewickedfae My own country has a dwindling population of 2.4 million and fast in decline. At one point in future it will become useless to speak my native language and the only reason will be for nationalism & historical value. Is that a reason to keep a language alive? This topic is fun & sad at the same time.

  • @CheapWannabe I'd just say that allowing another culture to shift your own is never a good thing. I'd hate to be in a country where my culture was seemingly being phased out. As I said, language tends to be the glue that binds a culture and its traditions. I live in the US and here many people from other countries speak English but keep their native language for speaking at home or with other native speakers. It is a connection and helps keep their culture alive.

  • You're absolutely right. I'm in the same boat here. But now what will happen to us if we continue our lives, create families here in US. Here we have a little sucker asking why you're trying to teach me Welsh/Gaelic/Wayuu/Lithuanian or whatever. - Oh well dear I want you to keep the culture & traditions of X. - mom/dad why did you move here then? Why do I need a silly tradition? <== I don't like that question. But what you tell him/her?

  • @CheapWannabe Never seen the situation so I don't know as children tend to learn both at a very young age where they don't have those questions. Never had a friend in that situation question it.

  • @CheapWannabe Friends who have foreign born parents tend to embrace or accept keeping that culture alive. They speak that language to family. The US is a different place than most.

  • @CheapWannabe I intend to move somewhere in Europe and would learn my new country's language before doing so without thought. I think it's disrespectful to impose yourself on a group of people. If a country doesn't want to take on your foreign language as an entire nation, they don't have to. Its their country. Simple as that for me. Native English speakers just tend to be arrogant about their language and don't understand why the entire world won't cater to them so the world ends up doing so.

  • @bill739 Also, you're looking at their relationship the wrong way. Ricky and Karl are literally best friends. Ricky has said that many, many times, Karl is his best friend and he really loves him. They just have this type of relationship. Karl has also said many times that he's fed up with people saying Ricky picks on him and that he's an adult and if it bothered him, he wouldn't put up with it or be friends with Ricky.

  • @thewickedfae "Karl has also said many times that he's fed up with people saying Ricky picks on him and that he's an adult and if it bothered him, he wouldn't put up with it or be friends with Ricky."

Many times, eh? Can you name three of those occasions?

  • @bill739 You take forever to say nothing...

  • @Ellis01234567890 hahahaah hahaha :D Best line!

  • no i do not. WHAT THIS SHOW IS is a show in which two men both pretending to have intellectual skills far beyond what they really have attempting to make fun of a man who is very much the common man normal in everyway .

  • @bill739 Steve has almost no pretense so I dunno what you're getting at there. Ricky is very knowledgeable, he doesn't "pretend" to have intellectual skills. You can't pretend to be knowledgeable/intelligent - you either are or aren't which is proven when you speak. I don't know why you're trying to hold Karl on high though. In this clip he says the Welsh should get rid of their language and speak his... He means well but he's ignorant, often willfully. That shouldn't be honorable.

  • Welsh people, you should be laughing at his ignorant misinformed opinions instead of getting offended.

  • @JamieIsNotAvailable i'm Welsh and far from offended :D

  • I'm a fluent Welsh speaker and i was born and bred here what Karl dosent understand is the world needs variation. Although i dont agree with him i will carry on listening to their podcasts and watch an idiot abroad because he is funny as anything, rick and steve notice that he says the wrong thing when they both go "ohhhhhh"

  • he's a focking cunt !!! 85% of Wales are Welsh Speakers i cant even speack english very well , i only speack Welsh !!

  • @xiGoLiiWoGzZv You say; "he's a focking cunt !!! i only speack Welsh !!" Hmm, ok, might i suggest, that as English is the recognised Universal language, that, in your own interest, you learn. Limiting yourself to Welsh is fine, if you don't ever want to leave Wales. Hopefully you will understand what i'm writing, just as you understood the clip, even though it was in English.

  • @xiGoLiiWoGzZv based on your comment I think you're 85% cunt yourself

  • I would not mind this joking around so much if it were Carl and the tall man and then if they like someone else other then the dumb ass simon cowel copy cat

  • @bill739 use their names! you're too vague! and it's Karl with a 'K'!!! play a record...

  • @bill739 Ricky is actually a very intellectual person. He acts the way he is around Karl because all friends have different fashions of acting around their other friend. It's how things are.

  • @bill739 shut up, you're boring

  • i hate the dam ass that sits in the middle acts like simon cowel from american idol . both he and this dam ass are to fu^ked up ship heads. Karl is a smart down to earth man . laughing at him is not wise because your laughing at the masses then and you are part of the masses.

  • @bill739 do you think its possible that you dont have a sense of humor?

  • Comment removed

  • "Learn English. All pull together.... Anyway, what's me point?" XD

  • Say that about the Arabs here in the UK and you get a race card thrown at ya

  • @Kcon83 - Why the 'arabs'. I live in the UK and Arabs are one of the few groups we can openly dislike.

  • @MaZiPaN3000 70% of people in Carmarthenshire speak Welsh as their FIRST language.

  • @MaZiPaN3000 iv been to aberystwyth n they was speakin welsh hmmm haha

  • THX GOD 4 BRITISH HUMOR! X

  • KARL PILKINGTON IS A LEGEND HE SHOULD DO A STAND UP TOUR

  • @TalyllychauMasif ..................I don't think you know who Karl Pilkington is.

  • @TalyllychauMasif Take a chill pill. I am a fluent welsh speaker and my mum is from the east end of London. We don't punish her for it. We didn't burn her Edward!!!. Its a joke by a guy who is on a show called Idiot Abroad, do you think it might be a bit of satire and fun?

  • @Jezare1 FUN?! this cannot be allowed. someone call the FUN POLICE

  • @TalyllychauMasif And people like you are the reason why most English 'hate' the welsh

  • @TalyllychauMasif And people like you are the reason why most English 'hate' the welsh

  • @TalyllychauMasif You capitalise Welsh but not English. You can't spell tongue or until, so i guess Welsh IS your first language and no, you can't take a joke...;)

  • @rrdab1 An English man would be the first to complain about it i think you would find, your country is just so lazy many languages have been wiped out because of the lazy-nes but not Welsh you cant stand anyone to be different! No matter how much the Welsh Scottish Irish in actual fact most of the world hate the English you cant realize your hatred toward the countries too, look in the mirror before you judge!

  • @AIRWelshDan Dear me, why such vitriol? Calm down. Where, in my tongue in cheek post, did i even hint at the English not being able to stand anyone for being different? Where did i even imply that the English hated other countries? Yet you take it upon yourself to generalise, but state as fact, that "most of the world hate the English." My friend, I suggest it is YOU, not me, who should look in the mirror, you won't be able to miss that huge chip on your shoulder. Iechyd da!

  • @rrdab1 sorry i was high off my chops when i wrote this =S it always happens but seriously the English are a bunch of asrse holes and yeah most of the world does hate you. do you know what iechyd da means? =L iechyd ddrwg i chdi'r chachwr

  • @AIRWelshDan

    Oh stop it you!

  • @ExtremeBogom bit camp?

  • @TalyllychauMasif Where's BullshitMan when you really need him?
