  • Yes! doug is great ! and so is John Sykes who plays double solos along with him.John does a great solo on cry'ing in the rain.these two together are the best two guitarest Ive heared played together sence " Thin Lizzy " at least I think so.

  • I met Doug in Copenhagen in 2008. When I complimented him on his playing, he answered, "Aw, I just do the best I can, try not to make these guys look bad." He was a really nice fellow.

  • The live concert in London 2005 was fucking unbelievable! Doug was killer! He nailed every single fucking note during the whole set! He is definitively one of the greatest lead guitarists out there! Clean as hell!

  • I love this guy !!!! u rock dude Serbia is listening u <3

  • His playing is flawless... and isn't his hair just beautiful?

  • saw him live with whitesnake today ... WOW!!!

  • Man, excellent motivation. Yes...

  • best legato player ever

  • @vaichild next to John himself, no doubt...Doug is vibrato king.

  • Thank you Doug!

  • WHAT song is this ?????

  • @ledzepfan02 crying in the rain

  • Alright guys,

Aldrich and Wylde call Sykes DADDY.

  • Allen Coates/ Broken Man, Youtube. Its pretty cool! Check it out! Doug Aldrich is one of the all time greats! Everyone pay respect, he deserves it.

  • WHITESNAKE IS OF COURSE A GREAT BAND BUT DOUG ALDRICH DESERVS MUCH BETTER!

  • Gettign that "Aldrich" tone out of a podx3 is bloody impossible!

  • @Clivebarker88 just for you i will say once more that gary moore was a piss up asshole who was a rubbish player and the only thing he was good at was telling the band and the fans to fuck off . at some gigeds they put on a backing tape cos he was that piss up . so go fuck yer sen you middle class art school asshole

  • Does anybody know exactly how he is playing here i go again? i have tried to get the same sound for weeks now but to no avail?? please somebody help! lol

  • I love Doug Aldrich's hair. So amazing for a guy. Reminds me of Sebastian Bach a bit.

  • He sounds as if he's tuned a step down on this song?

  • great tone. someone knows what amp he is using here?

  • Is this the same Doug Aldrich that taught guitar lessons in Thousand Oaks in the 80s? if so, I took lessons from this guy. Glad to see he made it big

  • @ganjajay

Unless your guitar teacher was in the band Whitesnake in the 80's, your teacher was a different Doug Aldrich.

  • @Celtic3Nvida Doug Aldrich joined Whitesnakes in 2003. I checked his Wiki entry and they say he had been a guitar teacher for a while... Interesting Ganjajay, you might have taken classes with him

  • @Celtic3Nvida sykes, vai and Vandenberg where the players for snake in the eighties

  • Teaching riffs composed by other guitarists?

  • maestro total!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Just as I thought I was getting alright at guitar, I see this =(

Definatley one of my favourite guitarists though!

  • Who the fuck is Rhandy? Oh you mean Randy. As in the baddest of all time Randy Rhoads. Learn to spell his name if your going to pay tribute to him.goon

  • Doug is as great a guitarust as i have seen since Rhandy, as the styles are very simular and both are/were(rip Rhandy) damn good guys, in person, Doug is not just a class act he's also very humble, and to show his technique in his vid's, just shows how good a guy he is. His solo's are classic and his shredding is some of the best ever..and the sound is so clean. While different, he's alot like Rhandy in style and class. Thanks Doug, unlike others who are stuck up, your humble.

  • @MetalGamer46 he is a good dude lol ..i met him in person at a concert very very nice guy lol..

  • @MetalGamer46 I just met Doug, along with Reb and Brian 7/29/11 and I would have to agree that Doug's one of the few phenomenal players out there! You're right that he along with other (current) band mates of Whitesnake were extremely generous with their time and humble enough to spend over an hour sitting and talking with us. They put on an amazing show, too!

  • so cool!!

  • Doug sounds great.... playing John's material.

  • The Lord of The Les Paul

  • I love this pro

  • Anyone got links to tabs? :)

  • one of the best tone ever

  • this is great stuff !

  • why when song end this shit play mirley cirus? wtf? youtube suck balls more and more

  • if u look really closely Doug's guitar is vibrating... its because hes just that fast and his picking is that amazing that he doesnt just make strings vibrate, he makes GUITARS, vibrate.

  • this is an awesome guitarist, can anyone please name me all the songs that he plays. thank you

  • hes hott , i love his guitar playing

  • This guy is sooo good. It's pretty amazing that he sits down and teaches exactly what he is doing like this. I've seen vids of his interviews and discussions, and he seems like the most down-to-earth guy. No rock star ego...just major talent. I wish they were all like this guy.

  • saw him tonight , he was aweomse

  • good playing, what pickups are you use?

  • @kickalion Doug's using his signature pickups from Suhr.

  • <3 dear god i'm in love.

  • Your calling this shredding. S*** playin'....sloppy....mistakes.....please go listen to some real players

  • RIP Dimebag

  • john sykes used his pick to get that intense fast sound, for tapping, doug is a killer player to , wether in whitesnake or dio, he copies all solos to a tee, a great musician

  • guitar hero

  • @bobmarleyisgod1 fucking gary moore what you taking about lad he was shit

  • What about Buckethead? I'm pretty sure he has made his Les Paul his bitch.

  • Doug Aldrich is much better than Sykes i believe in terms of technique.

  • I have a Gibson LP Custom AND A Fender Startocaster. Both are Excellent Guitars with their OWN characteristics and Qualities. To rate one better than the other is ridiculous. They both ROCK in their unique and Individual Way.

  • Doug, YOU ROCK !!!!

  • him and zakk wylde are cut from the same cloth for sure. same guitar, hair, sound, everything

  • what song is this? It kicks ass

  • I love his hair more then him.

  • John Sykes is watching you with a smile on his face

  • CAN SUM1 PLZ DO A LESSON FOR CRYIN IN THE RAIN, THERES NO TABS FOR IT ANYWHERE!

  • OMG GOD IS PLAYING!

  • such a magnificent fat tone

  • dude that guitar is sweet

  • hell,yes.

  • doug aldrich+gibson les paul standard= perfection.

  • Hey, is it in E or Eb?

  • @Wielokropek97 always in E

  • @sejemandhaha nope it's Eflat

  • What an awesome guitar sound!

  • 4:25 "dururu dururu dururururu..." LOL

  • Man why David fired Sykes that is the stupid thing ever happen

  • thax Doug,Awsome guitar player and a 'big thz to Mr. John Sykes'',as you are an inspiration to me as why I started playing, thank youuu

  • thax Doug,Awsome guitar player and a 'big thz to Mr. John Sykes'',as you are an inspiration to me as why I started playing, thank youuu

  • No guitar player today can touch Doug,,,He is like Randy Rhoads ! he's in a class by himself.

  • Nineteen POP guitarist passed through here!

  • shredding with gibson les paul is better than fender stratocaster in sound... its melodic fat tone is totally beautiful...but, shredding with les paul need a deep skill.. its hard... and doug is a total shred god....

  • @31zex

I dont know what Stratocaster you have been playing, but its totally opposite.A Fender is so clean in its sound, that you cant hide behind the feedback as you can with a Les Paul. ;)

Ask any seasoned guitarist.A Les Paul is soooo much easier to play than a strat.Well you have more options with a Strat (IMO),but we are all different yes?

  • @Nevigo a les paul is (technically) more difficult to play than a stratocaster simply because the neck is so fat and the body doesn't have a double cutaway. but i think you meant the lp sounds dirtier and masks occasional fuckups unlike the strat.. mostly the reason why slash is playing a lp :))

doug and zakk are the reigning les paul gods atm

  • @grizzlyface88

Yeah I get what you mean with the neck. Its my experience that Les Pauls are easier, but if the neck is very big,it make it more difficult,I agree. But there are LP´s outthere with great thin necks, especially newer models.:)

  • @grizzlyface88 Actually plenty of les pauls have thinner necks. And they're EASIER to play due to the shortened scale length, resulting in les string tension.

  • @31zex what? yngwie malmsteen would kick you in the nuts for saying that les pauls sound better than fenders for shred! they are both good in different applications.

  • @31zex why is it harder? because u say so?

  • @Subaro0o les pauls were made before shred was around, so have chubbier necks, which arent created for speed, and it can be hard to get to the higher frets, just try one and youll see its no ibanez

  • @31zex I don't get why everybody says it's hard to shred on a Les Paul, I think it's just as easy as on any top-class guitar, it just takes a bit of getting used to. even the heel is not that hard to get used to, took me like a week or less...

  • @31zex Totally disagree,While each guitar has its own signature tone,A stock strat can easily sound like a paul(Clean or Dirty),and NOT vise versa

  • @31zex Untrue. The shorter scale makes shredding much easier than on a Strat. There's less tension and so it doesn't take as skillful of a picking hand. I'm not knocking this dude or LPs, but that is just bullshit man. Tune your guitar down a few steps and try doing some runs you have problems with. You'll instantly notice it is easier and the strings feel softer.

  • @bedofrazorsqwerty of course the strings will feel softer, by tuning down you reduce their tension, and the amount of work your fingers have to do to press down on the string. So no, tuning down from one guitar while the other is still in E standard is not a solution- it's a cheap-out quick fix that has no merits.... also, this shorter neck scaling is bullshit, les pauls have got the chunkiest necks on the planet.

  • @theZoftime I wasn't saying tune down and leave it that way. How did you even get that out of what I wrote? It's a way for someone to see really quickly the difference string tension makes. What the fuck does scale length have to do with the thickness of the neck? Some people like a thicker neck and it's more comfy, but that's moot. I don't care how chunky a neck is, it has nothing to do with what's being talked about at all. I seriously hope you aren't a luthier. Your customers would be fucked.

  • @31zex Eric Johnson?

  • @31zex the fender blacktop strat plays like a les paul but has a better feel.

  • dough is my all time fav guitarist....then Ace frehley is a close second

  • god his tone sure sucks in this vid !!!

  • i think that doug and zakk wylde are gibson les paul MASTERS...!!!.

  • @odyG7maiden

Ey! Man... Don't Forget BILLY DUFFYof THE CULT...

  • @odyG7maiden Wrong! Jimmy Page is the Master!

  • @TheSuperYoda yeah!!! but i talk about guitarists that are younger and they have future...

  • @odyG7maiden gary moore and buckethead ain't bad either

  • @odyG7maiden dont forget about slash :D

  • @Reconowner forget slash , sykes, zakk, & doug own all other les paul players

  • @Bang4URBux HELL YEAH!!

  • @Reconowner ok slash too :)

  • @odyG7maiden Fun fact: Doug has more Strats than Les Pauls and has used them more frequently throughout his career until recently when he seems to be using the Les Pauls all the time

  • @odyG7maiden dont forget bucketthead!

  • @odyG7maiden including gary moore these guys are the best guitar players ever!!!

  • @odyG7maiden I would put John Sykes above them 2 and the late great Gary Moore at the top.

  • @odyG7maiden dont forget vivian campell

  • @odyG7maiden dont forget vivian campell and randy rhoads

  • @odyG7maiden Jimmy Page, Slash, Randy Rhoads, Billy Gibbons, Gary Moore?

  • @odyG7maiden

just add Slash to your list, but I'm with you in this!

  • @DanielMMAbr

    buckethead too

  • @odyG7maiden Shame on you man. You forgot SLASH :)

  • @SlashFanBoy666 And Jimmy page too man :)!

  • @SlashFanBoy666 ok try to forgive me man! ;P

  • @odyG7maiden and slash

  • @elalaxx hahah ok ok.. slash fans. and slash!!! :)

  • @odyG7maiden oh..please add up Mr. Sykes too :)

  • @odyG7maiden i will agree but dont forget another ozzy guitarist, Randy Rhoads

  • @odyG7maiden i will agree but theres another ozzy guitarist, randy rhoads and mr jimmy page. there are many masters of the paul

  • @odyG7maiden With the difference being that doug has forgotten more about playing a guitar than zakk will ever know? zakk's great but come on... nothing he has ever played could touch aldrich....

  • @Hellspawn880 You are massively inept. Zakk was and still an amazing guitarist, and so is Doug. Zakks vibrato is second to none. You clearly havent heard any of his solo's with Ozzy.

  • @Hellspawn880 zakk wylde blow him with his hamrmonics away and his hardcore pentatonics

  • @thomykosta no he doesnt!

  • @Krzysmalaki74 zakk is the monster and doug cant that way who play zakk wylde

  • @Hellspawn880 i couldn't agree more

  • @Hellspawn880 i gotta disagree. search "zakk wylde - sold my soul" and click the first one. thats some hefty stuff.

  • @Hellspawn880 i really wouldn't be sure about that, Zakk puts on that he doesn't really know too much theory and stuff but i've read a couple of lessons by him with vids that show him utilizing a shit load of theory outside of the pent scales. If u look into it he was also a very accomplished classical guitarist and pianist. It's just he is a fraction of the guitar play now then he was 10 or 15 years ago

  • @odyG7maiden definately. and slash

  • is doug using his majik box Rocket Fuel pedal in this vid?

  • I love that Doug can sound the best of Vintage and completely modern all at the same time. He is technically flawless, and yet brings real excitement to what I sometimes feel are bland, clichéd songs of other bands. I'd watch him gig Whitesnake, because he adds something to any music he plays on.

I stole his wide, slow vibrato years ago. Now I want to cop this lesson for fun!!

  • Wow he's a solid player!

  • My favorite guitar Player!

  • amazing <3

  • i absolutley loved doug, when i saw whitesnake in 2002 he blew me a kiss ;) ahah i was only 9.

Whitesnake are fucking awesome, there amazing live and coverdale is just perfect!

  • Sounds like my Soldano SLO100's lead channel gain pushed full... Cool! Awesome playing and I'm amazed how Doug could deal with John Sykes' stuff.

  • and now, all the credits go to JOHN SYKES!!!! yeah~

  • its sykes cloned

  • α μωρη αρρωστεια doug!!!!kayla h lp!!!!

  • his ring finger is like paul gilbert's pinky

  • doug aldrich is the best player in the world in my head ive always worshiped him in whitesnake

  • @martynmcgilvray01 You know, I've always had my opinions about WS in the 80's. I was always into heavier stuff. Got a chance to see them with Judas Priest last year and they blew me away. The sun was going down, a nice cool breeze was blowing through the section I was seated at, and the brew I was drinking and Aldrich's tone were spot on. Fantastic evening.

  • my god hes tooo good

  • he plays the start of the solo without even looking...show off :P. No I'm just kidding, great player cool to watch

  • When I saw Whitesnake live,I went being excited about seeing Reb Beach play. However,I left excited about Doug Aldrich's playing. He was monumental to the enjoyment of the whole concert~!

  • thats real rock u r the MAN Doug ! rock on ! ;)

  • The greatest guitarist around today Aldrich,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Randy Rhoads and Doug Aldrich.

  • Hes really Good

  • two thumbs up

  • 1:18 to 2:05 makes you appreciate how brilliant John really is, those notes just make your ears tickle. Doug does a reputable recreation here. Wonderful Dexterity

  • I like how his little sweep pick at 1:37 is just natural and effortless for Doug. He is one amazing player!!

  • those 18 dislikes must have come from hermanli's fan

  • yeah he is amazing and his tone is sick as too !

  • one of the best guitarists right now!incredible tone!

  • of all of Ronnie and Ozzy's guitarists , and i know who they are -- Doug is the best. bash for that but that's what i feel

  • @chelzeaify I would agree with you on all counts except for, perhaps, a little man named Randy Rhoads. :]

  • he might have the best tone of all time. Hes up there with Vivian Campbell in tone

  • @goodygoody23 he has my second favourite tone

my favourite is eddie van halen's tone

  • @doranemon eddie did have a great tone

  • @doranemon You should really check out Andy Timmons if you really want to hear a great tone.

  • man this guy is insane, he is basically the perfect rocker. he can churn out amazing riffs and really rip into it in the solo.

    amazing stuff

  • I WANT HIS TONE

  • What a tone!

  • HE PISSES ALL OVER SYKES AND THEN SOME!!

  • Love the Les Paul...and great playing...

  • He is like a younger John Sykes and dose it great!

  • He is lika a younger John Sykes and dose it great

  • Just read this cat at one time auditioned for the band "KISS"..and while I'm a huge Kiss fan, they've got to be idiots for not hiring him.He would had been the best guitarist they've ever had; better than Frehley,of coarse,St John,Vincent,Kulick, and their WORST guitarist everrrrrr...TOMMY THAYER!! Aldrich would had been too much talent for that band IMO.

  • @Wayneman117 My shoe has too much talent for that band!

  • @blalock78 -yea..but I sure wish he would had gotton the gig though..thanks 4 repling.

  • gotta love that playing technique

  • THE SUN IS SHINING. BUT IT'S RAIIIIIIIIIIIAIIIAIINING IN MY HEART!

  • Lack guitarists so today, that's the truth.

    Doug is great!!!!!

  • And that, my friends, is what you call "orgasmic."

  • He's got nice but odd tone in this video, am I right?

  • is he the one who played on House Of Lord's Sahara??? anyone knows? please??

  • @ChildOfBurma yep, thats him on that album. I have it...its fuckin sweet
