Not sure what bit of film you're refering to Momthrone, but I can assure you that these shots were all taken in high summer. And as I'm sure you're aware, trout spawn during the winter, which is when fishing season is closed.
Great to land one, even better seeing it swim away again. Who knows, you may even catch it again? That certainly was true with 'The Moustacheiod One' and myself a few years ago, caught the same fish in the same stretch of river on subsequent years,(identified by looking at the 'grip&grin' photos afterwards) and now the challenge is to get the bugger out again for another picture soon!
I'm new to the game but I agree with Struck2soon its a killer trying to present that fly to a fish you can see without spooking it.

You have no idea how glad I am that you guys know how to release a fish correctly!
Those fish at the end are beauties!
Well done and keep it up!

That's not unusual for New Zealand, there's a lot of fish and places with not a lot of fishermen!

Im a guide in the US. Maybe sometime I will have the opportunity to fish your beautiful waters.

Yeah, it is good to watch them....but it really makes your nerves go when you try to get a clean cast up to a fish you can see so clearly!

Gosh.
I love how you can just watch them.
Here in GA.
We cant see the fish.. we just hope.
