He forgot to mention the fact that we're at the end of a super-cycle, and that the Federal Reserve's involvement in credit and interest rates also helped cause the crash.
This is for you,Young Ton, and read it last post to top post.
Fannie Mae bought up a majority of the bad loans made by banks to unqualified borrowers. Raines then falsified Fannie Mae financial reports so he could collect bonuses which totaled over $90 million for 5 years.
3. Bill Clinton’s Attorney General, Janet Reno, then intimidated banks with threats of legal action if they did not give loans to unqualified borrowers who would not have the income to pay the loans back. A member of the Clinton administration, Franklin Raines was then put in charge of Fannie Mae by Bill Clinton.
The worst "bullying" of the banks to giving loans was with bush but you got that last part right some republicans and most of the democrats are just helping the corporations who gave them money for theirt campaings and that sounds just like crowny capitalism.

The problem is that Globalists broke the law by engaging in treaties that remove tarrifs on imports - undermining our economic market and destroying - exporting all our jobs. U see how ridiculous u sound by name calling? I just called u a terrorist, which is just as true as calling me a socialist.
@raysfan527 You do realize that banking systems would collapse completely in a free market society, right?
Banks have been federal agencies from the start. I read a Liberal article once saying that the banks were already nationalized. The article was trying to justify nationalizing them more. It failed miserably.
The banks are a parasitical extension of the government, as well as a scapegoat. You're the one putting hope in a superficial economy. Its called a command economy, and its growing.
ouch...you just called me a progressive. thats low. -sarcasm-
If "freedom" is giving Americans a false sense of hope in a superficial economy then thats not the freedom I want. i want the kind of freedom that allows me to not be swindled by these fat cat bankers that only look out for their own interests and the interests of whoever they're working for. And the government should be able to make sure that these banks are not giving the middle finger to the average american.
"The terms Republican and Democrat do not define Conservative and Liberal.
A liberal want's the government more involved in large corporations like banks."
I completely agree with that. I am a liberal in that regard because i feel that for too long corporate america has had far too much influence and I would like the government to keep them in check. The problem with American Capitalism is that everything is done for profit. No matter the morality of the situation.
@raysfan527 Corporate America didn't exist until FDR made it. It is by definition the end result of the policies you suggest.
Just look at the food industry. Federal Government under FDR set up a system in which large, collectivist farms are supported, and small, local farms are not. What do you think would happen in such a system? It was inevitable. Regulation IS the problem.
Socialism IS Capitalism. It is its own enemy, a snake eating its own tail, a rapid stagnation that blights itself.
@SteamCenturion I don't know who taught you about socialism and capitalism but you couldn't possibly be more wrong. Capitalism centers on the individual, or group of individuals, applying their skills, abilities, and resources to solving the problems of their neighbors and in exchange for the resources of their neighbors. Socialism centers on individuals giving their resources to the government and the government redistributing the resources as it believes is best. Not at all the same.
Socialism centers on the gov't and TAKES the resources of the individual to redistribute it among themselfs,as long as you with them ,you benefit,......you're against it,you'll be silenced
dont believe me? ask anyone who could escape it,have a nice day
Why do people who talk about capitalism always associate it with the individual? Capitalism refers to the groups of people who have CAPITAL. Now i don't consider myself an adherent to any of these 'isms', but it seems like this association has been slipped through without a careful examination.
Reagan didn't create any agencies of Government corruption, but he completely deregulated the banks and basically allowed Wall Street to run rampant, doing whatever the hell they wanted without consequence, sadly this still hasn't stopped. But it was under Reagan where it truly began. And you say agency of corruption as if its only the government is corrupt (which it is by the way, besides a few mavericks), but in reality its the government and CORPORATE AMERICA who is corrupt.
How can I have a debate with someone who thinks that Eisenhower, Truman (who used the ATOMIC BOMB), Ford, and NIXON were liberal?!?!?!
Btw Nixon, who wasn't a Liberal, created Freddie Mac under his administration.
And Reagan allowed for more corporation involvement in government, hell one his top advisors was the head of a massive bank! I can't remember which bank, perhaps countrywide....and the works of Donald Regan really messed things up.
No not really, since he's merely stating facts when calling the G.O.P stupid....but that stupidity started way before this administration--I like to use the election of Reagan in 1980 and his "New Conservatism" when the GOP truly lost their way economically. Didn't hear Klavan mention that!
You forgot the Reagan and Bush Sr/Jr administration in your "genuis" satire of banks givng loans to people who couldn't afford them. How do you expect people on the other side of the aisle to take you seriously if you don't show all the facts?
No offense buddy, but you're wrong on one fact. The banks were bailed out by Hank Paulson, not by Timothy Geithner. Get your facts straight.
Furthermore SOME kind of financial reform is better than no financial reform.
Nowadays all bills are backed up by corrupt corporations.
One simple solution: make the congress vote anonymous. This way no one would know who voted Yeay or Nay on any bill and corporations wouldn't be able to punish politicians. The whole political system is at fault here.
@ExtractCarrot An easier solution would be to impose term limits. If you effectively make it impossible for someone to become a "career politician" their incentives change dramatically.
@smiledammit24 That's would be a good solution too, but I thought about that before and I think having more terms pushes politicians to actually behave a bit on the first term. History has shown as that most presidents made quite a party out of their second (last) term. I'm afraid if they would only be allowed to lead the country for one term they would do all that mess in that first term anyway.
Americans need to stop voting selfishly. Your hand out today is your grand child's burden tomorrow, if we make it that far. Margaret Thatcher's wise words, "the problem with socialism is eventually you run out of other people's money" has become prophetic in Europe, starting in Greece. And, we will pay. We will be like Argentina - if they take our communication too, we will be beating pots and pans in the streets.
LOL "..your health care paid for, by more productive citizens than you.." Yup sad state of affairs.. it's Biblical , deceivers deceiving and being deceived.. wicked people! God help us..

@anthony62490 does he really have to??? I think for the sake of non-bias he should!
the mainstream media. omg, these guys play soft ball with the politicos on BOTH sides of the isle. if your going to be an indy reporter on the net, the first rule is you get BOTH SIDES OF THE ARGUMENT! not just some weak sauce *oh no, the liberals and/or conservatives are at it again! its all *insert sect of society to blame here*'s fault but not mine".
4/10 for being informative in some areas,0/10 for whining
@anthony62490 furthermore, that was a lame display of banker history. go back to daddy bush and regan, and you will find alot of what they have done in terms of corrupting the financial sector of this country. they all actually slide pretty much in place with what carter and clinton did.
Actually, repeal of the glass-stegal act made mortgage backed securities legal (they were illegal since the great depression). Banks made shitty loans because they'd just sell them as a security and make instant profit and had no risks when the loans failed.
Fun fact: only 1 in 4 mortgages made during this period were made from banks that even fell under the jurisdiction of the CRA, let alone were made because of them.
@prafty Tell me, when does the Democratic Party ever concede anyhing? They rarely ever own up to anything reprehensible they do, blaming others for decisions that are clearly theirs.
MEAN: And another problem with libs is they look at wealth as a zero-sum game. If my income doubles in a year, I must've stolen it from some welfare recipient.
nice vid, but helicopter Ben is never mentioned - crony 'capitalism' doesn't explain it all - a flood of liquidity is necessary to create malinvestment in such epic proportions.
If some men are entitled by rights to products of the work of others, it means that those others being forced to provide are deprived of their rights and are condemned to slave labor. There can be no such thing as the right to enslave even for the welfare of others. - Ayn Rand
Statist Progressives, Liberals, Socialists, & Fascists (Democrat & NeoCon) endorse Big Govt SLAVERY. In the US, the 50% who pay taxes are SLAVES to the 50% who don't.
Dja' ever notice how Obama's smile is broadest and most beaming and beautiful when he is in the middle of screwing the American public and free people everywhere?
Liberals think of there vote for liberal and progressive Democrats as charity, as if they are doing their part to achieve the elusive "more prefect union". Since they can't actually doing anything to achieve this, they vote for politicians who say they can.
Unfortunately, the Repubs ARE too stupid to differentiate between crony capitalism and real capitalism. My worry is that the Repubs will win big in November then fall right in line with the Dems and abandon the voters who put them there. We will truly see that they are really both the same party, just 2 different names and We, the People, get screwed. Every time.
Oh common, the Repubs have at least 20 or so good people in it and even though the rest of the majority suck, I don't believe they're exactly the same! No, what we have in actuality here is a party that freaking sucks and a party that freaking completely sucks! Ok, never mind, we're doomed!!!
I think there are a lot of well meaning Democrat supporters who have no idea about any of this and would greatly benefit from this information. Excellent video.
@MrDarrenlobo2112 - Hey, don't flag something as spam just because you don't like it! There's no real difference between the Rs & Ds. They may talk differently, but they do all the same things once in office. We may as well be in Bush's 3rd term. Obama is just continuing all of the knucklehead's policies.
@badluck1986 Oh, silly, before what we now know as government, there used to be this thing called charity. Now there's just confiscation and redistribution. We are much more humane nowadays.
The small minded focus on political parties above the issues that are at the heart of the debate. Leaving money in the hands of the capital holders means they have capital to invest in more people. Taking the money out of the hands of the capital holders means you pay the salaries of government bureaucrats. How does that help the "weak", exactly?
@diskpanic Yes, but if the Government takes the money from those holders... they can give 37% of it back in the form of welfare and look like the good guys
This is true. Yet the Marxist establishment tries to ignore how that amount of money in Welfare is enough for barely subsistence living. If the money had been left in the private sector, there is the potential for 3 more jobs for every one individual taxed in the top 25%. The uneducated believe that having a little for free is better than earning more, creating a cycle of generational poverty and political servitude.
@diskpanic No they do, but they are relying on the fact that individuals who accept the welfare wont realize that they are being given enough to just stay in poverty and never get above that, so that they think the Marxist politicians are the good guys and keep voting them in. I mean if you want a current example of where that leads, just take a look at Greece
@Paulwhoisvegan Where, exactly, is he being even remotely racist in this video. There is not even the mention of skin color in this entire piece. This is just what everyone who disagrees with someone disagreeing with the Obama administration does, but it is so transparent, your attempts to label someone a racist but anyone with eyes and ears can see from this video you are full of crap, that you only succeed in making yourself look foolish. Please ponder your position further...
@SgtArmyGuy666 Simple, he hasn't been kissing Obama's rear like the major news networks... and if your lips are pressed against Obama's rear and you're in news, you're a racist
@Zzaztur yah, might want to be careful about the "rights" argument. Is it bad to vote political equality? phrasing it as people voting themselves money is easier for peebrains to understand- i assume they would be the worst to deal with.

No matter the morality of the situation.
raysfan527 1 year ago
@raysfan527 Corporate America didn't exist until FDR made it. It is by definition the end result of the policies you suggest.
Just look at the food industry. Federal Government under FDR set up a system in which large, collectivist farms are supported, and small, local farms are not. What do you think would happen in such a system? It was inevitable. Regulation IS the problem.
Socialism IS Capitalism. It is its own enemy, a snake eating its own tail, a rapid stagnation that blights itself.
SteamCenturion 11 months ago
@SteamCenturion I don't know who taught you about socialism and capitalism but you couldn't possibly be more wrong. Capitalism centers on the individual, or group of individuals, applying their skills, abilities, and resources to solving the problems of their neighbors and in exchange for the resources of their neighbors. Socialism centers on individuals giving their resources to the government and the government redistributing the resources as it believes is best. Not at all the same.
brandymmiller 9 months ago 27
@brandymmiller
you got it almost right,except for.....
Socialism centers on the gov't and TAKES the resources of the individual to redistribute it among themselfs,as long as you with them ,you benefit,......you're against it,you'll be silenced
dont believe me? ask anyone who could escape it,have a nice day
Hoschi0913 3 months ago
@brandymmiller America is socialist!!!
" individuals giving their resources to the government and the government redistributing the resources as it believes is best."
eg. Pentagon, Social Security, Police and Fire Depts, Medicare/Medicaid, Roads, Bridges, Public Education... etc.
Everyone besides Ayn Rand believes in some level of socialism, by the above definition.

And you say agency of corruption as if its only the government is corrupt (which it is by the way, besides a few mavericks), but in reality its the government and CORPORATE AMERICA who is corrupt.
raysfan527 1 year ago
@Luke13f
*correction* it was Donald Regan, the former CEO of Merrill Lynch. He was one of Reagan's top advisors.
raysfan527 1 year ago
@Luke13f
I can't remember which bank, perhaps countrywide....and the works of Donald Regan really messed things up.
raysfan527 1 year ago
@Luke13f
No not really, since he's merely stating facts when calling the G.O.P stupid....but that stupidity started way before this administration--I like to use the election of Reagan in 1980 and his "New Conservatism" when the GOP truly lost their way economically. Didn't hear Klavan mention that!

ExtractCarrot 1 year ago
@ExtractCarrot An easier solution would be to impose term limits. If you effectively make it impossible for someone to become a "career politician" their incentives change dramatically.
smiledammit24 1 year ago 2
@smiledammit24 That's would be a good solution too, but I thought about that before and I think having more terms pushes politicians to actually behave a bit on the first term. History has shown as that most presidents made quite a party out of their second (last) term. I'm afraid if they would only be allowed to lead the country for one term they would do all that mess in that first term anyway.
ExtractCarrot 1 year ago
Americans need to stop voting selfishly. Your hand out today is your grand child's burden tomorrow, if we make it that far. Margaret Thatcher's wise words, "the problem with socialism is eventually you run out of other people's money" has become prophetic in Europe, starting in Greece. And, we will pay. We will be like Argentina - if they take our communication too, we will be beating pots and pans in the streets.

Slavery vs. Liberty

Unfortunately, the Repubs ARE too stupid to differentiate between crony capitalism and real capitalism. The small minded focus on political parties above the issues that are at the heart of the debate. Leaving money in the hands of the capital holders means they have capital to invest in more people. Taking the money out of the hands of the capital holders means you pay the salaries of government bureaucrats. How does that help the "weak", exactly?
diskpanic 1 year ago
@diskpanic Yes, but if the Government takes the money from those holders... they can give 37% of it back in the form of welfare and look like the good guys
TRMerc 1 year ago
@TRMerc
This is true. Yet the Marxist establishment tries to ignore how that amount of money in Welfare is enough for barely subsistence living. If the money had been left in the private sector, there is the potential for 3 more jobs for every one individual taxed in the top 25%. The uneducated believe that having a little for free is better than earning more, creating a cycle of generational poverty and political servitude.
diskpanic 1 year ago 3
@diskpanic No they do, but they are relying on the fact that individuals who accept the welfare wont realize that they are being given enough to just stay in poverty and never get above that, so that they think the Marxist politicians are the good guys and keep voting them in. I mean if you want a current example of where that leads, just take a look at Greece
