Taki is a flame and Klaus is a gunpowder, they can function when they are together.

In other words, their purpose cannot be completed unless they are together. They cannot leave from another because they are "BETTER HALF" to share their fate and life. So Both Taki and Klaus know that their love(

or much stronger feeling than love ) is more important that their individual lives to carry out their purpose.It is their fate, it is not possible for them to escape from it.

And as Klaus himself thought, his spirit was only rotting until the call of his voice awoke him. Those are pretty huge words.

So I think that the two of them need the other, love the other and long for the other in a different way but with similar intensity. But In the case that one of them were killed or permanently separated of the other, I think Klaus' life is more vulnerable, given his personality.

I mean Taki and Klaus' purpose might be the SAME! Klaus will have Taki as their "Half Body" and Taki will get the land again with Klaus. I think when they are touching each other, Taki can smell his floral smell. Usually Taki has not odor in his body, only Klaus can induce Taki's scent.

This is the fatal promise that was made very very long time ago. So they are moving and acting all the things because of their bloods. Even though they cannot recognize this promise.

and that he have very clear the fact that there are other people whose lives depend on his actions too. Pretty difficult situation for him and his feelings.

Klaus, in the other hand, just have one or two things as the reason for his whole life.  Aside of Taki as his universe, the remembering and wish for the sensation of flight and some missing of Claudia, there is nothing else.

Klaus is the selected person in his family to carry out the propose to find out their "Half body".

Beside this, Taki has a different purpose to complete, that is the recover his holy land where was tainted in the last World War. It is in No-Man's Land.This place is holy in his family tale, because his ancestor met the god from other country, I suppose this story might be connected to Klaus' family's legend.

Klaus' love for him is weaker. I think is just different. Taki have a lot of things to fight for: his pride, his country, his family, his people,etc (despite we don't really know if he really wants to fight for all those things)and as is shown in various occasions he has a strong sense of responsibility. I think he need Klaus to keep fighting for all these things as much as he loves him, but he knows that there must be priorities,

I think Klaus is more free for this life than Taki, so he has less risk and responsibility. But.... do you remember the words by his grand father? When Klaus was an infant, he heard beside his grand pa's bed.

"The scent of Rose is our half body, do not miss it"

Klaus also has a duty since he has heard this legend. That is finding out his half body as a promised story of his ancestors.Therefore Klaus was reacted to Taki's smell and attracted by Taki. Unconsciously, he knows this fact.

I think it is a bit difficult to understand because this story in based on Japanese mentality as Klaus' boss said.

It is the very ethnic and historical matter for the people who are out of Japan.

As you mentioned, Taki is the lord, that why his people and land take priority over his own love to Klaus. But it is not the true feeling for Taki, it is just a duty and he cannot think he deceive his nation.

Holding hands has never meant sooo much...

I find the whole "spy intrigue" more and more interesting. There are just so many possibilities! I used to think Klaus was acting as a double agent. Now, seeing Katsuragi's cooperation with the Duchess(= Eurote), I think that maybe Klaus and his former supervisor are plotting for an alliance (with or without Taki's knowledge) that would tear Taki's land form Eurote. Instead, he would fall under Western supervision, but Taki'd rather be independent...

@leighrikako You gotta love how complicated situations and relationships are in MR. Like Taki & Klaus'; it's so awesome! Taki is much softer to Klaus now, did you notice? I guess Klaus' brutal remark in past volumes got through. It wouldn't be need for rape if Klaus asked Taki what's wrong from the start - the moment he noticed first sight of coldness from him. It wasn't really fair of him to take it out on Taki who had no idea Klaus had a problem with their new arrangement.

Thank you for the comment. You are thinking this story very carefully and get deep understanding, I know. I my view, Taki cannot show his true feeling to Klaus because Taki is (maybe) Japanese. Even though he has very strong appetite to have Klaus physically. It was caused by the lack of communication.In Japaneses culture, we believe someone by his actions more than his words, so Taki could understand Klaus' reliability by his action that he dare not to touch Taki anymore.

@OkitaAoyagi Taki and Klaus are under a house arrest because of train incident that happened in No Man's Land (volume 2). Since going there was a serious blow to Taki's purity, Katsuragi might use it to get Taki deposed.

Right now, Taki is stripped of all military power. This is very bad as there's no saying what those in command might choose to do to our heroes. I they can't separate them, as ancient law of knighthood binds Klaus to Taki's side for the rest of their lives.

I like how Klaus' boss is plotting to "pluck a rose"; it's like he's doing it to help Taki's in some way, which is cute if true ^__^ Thank you for translating. Honestly,I cannot presume the implication by the Klaus boss' words "pluck a rose". For Western Allied Powers, Eurote is the real enemy, right? So I imagined two possibilities, they are planing to annexing Taki's country or they want to Taki would be perished as a warning to Eurote.

How do you think about it?

@leighrikako I think Klaus' boss respects Taki and his country; remember in Luckenwalde chapters when he said "we have something very precious entrusted to us" - I think that's a sign of admiration. I think he may want to help Taki and his country in some way, perhaps that's why he's asking to assume command for this battle. Also, he's aware his best spy Klaus is with Taki, so he would like to save him as well. I'm very excited about the coming chapters! ^__^

Well, Western Allied Powers' intention is the most unknown and also key point in this story. When Taki entered the military academy in Luckenwalde, the school master suggested to Klaus that he should come closer to Taki as his friend in his life. So perhaps they have a plan to send Klaus in order to help Taki' country.

We will see the story on tenterhooks from this chapter.

I have a bad feeling that Klaus's past (about him being a spy) might come back to haunt him soon and Katsuragi is the catalyst. And it seems someone wants to tamper with Suguri's lab samples (at least that seems to be hinted at 4:55). Oh the suspense...

We cannot see the relation between Eurote empress and Katsuragi either.So mysterious story with a lot of suspense.
