@curtiss1979 No you learn to be tollarent of your fellow man just because he talks differant does not mean you are better, these men are doing somthing, they have a passion for v8s
@merlin905 si lo miras de frente es el de la izquierda el primero, desp sigue siempre a la izquierda 2 3 y4 y luego a la derecha el primero es el 5 6 7 y 8
that is the LAST THING you want to do to a old engine for sure. You NEVER want to rev a old engine cause they are just that old things break thing aged. If you want to rev your engine up high go ahead, I have seen too many collasped lifters from idiots that rev their engine up to 3,000 and 4,000 and even 5,000 rpm just after cranking the engine before the engine is warmed up and even happening after the engine is warmed up.
Agreed its not good for a old motor but you will never ever see a collapsed lifter from a Y block, they all have solid lifters they run a Unique lifter that makes it impossible to fit hydraulic lifters too them
No shit, you dont say. I thought my Y-block was a hydraulic lifter engine (btw thats sarcasim). It does not atter if its a solid or a hyd lifter engine reving them like that when they are cold hurts them. I mean cmon do you really think that engine oil stays on all those main / connecting / cam bearings? Do you think the oil stays on the rocker arm shafts? When the engine sits over night that oil is gone thats why when cold those engines wind up to 2,000 rpm it gets oil flowing quickly
Now I was not talking about a collasped lifter happening on Y blocks I know they are solid lifters. The point that I was trying to make which I guess I didnt pass along clearly is that oil drains out of all the bearings and rocker arm shafts and lifters if you have hyd lifters. You take and push the engine too high you can cause increased wear, not to mention the oil you have today isnt really designed for the shear of a flat tappet engine like the Yblocks.
Now I am not saying reving the engine is bad for a Y block, the way this kid is reving it is. You dont sit there and go wide open throttle to idle multiple times very quickly especially if the engine is cold and considering he doesnt even have the water pump hooked up nor a water hose atleast putting water into the coolant passages.
I also applogize if anything I stated sounds like im being a smart ass or anything or insulting. I am at the point of reformating this pc cause this one virus just keeps popping back up after its removed.
Shit man, never rev a engine like that, that is what pisses me off when the blacks around here start their car up and then rev it while its cold let the oil get moving around the system first.

This is a Ford "Y" block engine @ 292 C.I.
They were produced from 1954 to 1965. The "Y" block replaced the flathead Ford engines.
