(not saying this against neck cracking/I crack me neck too, but now I need to see a cartio*...)
The reason that it feels good is because when you crack your neck, hormones re released which maked you feel good, so it's addicting...
I need to see a cardiologist* cause my neck hurts even when I turn.

It's really not something one can plan; my experiences is that it happens when you least experience it. Which of course adds to the whole "scare you have to death" effect whence it does. :)
