  • You make me want to quit guitar... thanks bud

  • Very cool version of Brubeck's classic !!!

    ~ RR

  • I have never seen a guitar like this - nicely done! (and I love this song!)

  • somebody kicks camera at 0:38?

  • I agree -----flawless. A real treat. ty

  • holy shit, this is some serious coordination

  • One of the best versions I've heard.

  • cool playing... jazz/metal grtz from nyc- rhsc

  • most retuning or remake ruins classics. but this... this is just so original and epic. Genial! 10/10

  • dude that is epic i could never do that

  • Awesome :-)

  • i can play that in my sleep....maybe

  • @laterallex - awww, you're dreamin pal! (hyuck hyuck hyuck.)

  • Chapeau! Paul Desmond would have liked this version. A real juwel!

  • Dios

  • proper timing...nice

  • boss.

  • At least I found a superb version!!!

I´m listening to a true 5/4 and to a flawless performance.

    Thanks for posting this jewel.

    Gus.

  • wow......................

  • Incredible!

  • He`s really amazing!!!!

  • Cool.

  • Awesome!

  • A Freakish guitar like think is needed together with a illogical way of handling a fretboard all to play a song for which perfectly capable normal instruments exist ? What is the values of this apart from the freakshow value ?

  • who are you? yoda? syntax, heard of it?

  • I think you mean punctuation. But that is okay, It was not meant for you lot.

  • Oh, illogical way of handling a fretboard... Have you not heard of tapping, Spock? Search for Stanley Jordan, you must.

  • No, I think syntax as well as punctuation. The word order makes the text difficult to understand. Also, initial capitalisation of an adjective?

Oh, and I do not agree with what you are saying either: This variation sounds very different to a standard six string guitar using fingerpicking. That is the value.

  • Horses ?

  • no, i'm pretty sure i mean syntax

  • No you didn't. Pull the other one.

  • What's tuning are you working with on that thing?

  • he plays on 14 strings better than i can on 6.

  • Great!! He follows a different tempo with his right and left hand...

  • No he doesn't...

It's the exact same tempo, although it's a completely different rhythm :)

  • Yes, you're right...

  • polyrhythm is a bitch to learn - I'm trying it, trust me when I say it is. How piano players cope I'll never know...

  • I play piano... Sometimes is very difficult, sometimes it isn't. The truth is,if you manage to play it once, you can always play it quite easily afterwards. The fundamental thing is being able to play the two rhythms together a first time.

  • That's how it works. The second i first got this thing right, it became a whole lot easier.

  • god damn, that's sick!!!!

  • holy crap you amazing

  • Excellent playing flintblade, I am in awe. Better lighting would be a plus, tho.

  • That is not any easy task. I give this guy real props.

  • Too cool!

  • Chingos Maestro!!!!!!!!!

  • mist , hab gerade bemerkt das mein mund bereits seit 3 min. offen steht...boooaa

  • Du bist nicht der einzige... :-)

wobei mein Mund nur 1 sek. kürzer offen steht...

  • Now I know for what double neck guitars had been created :D

Awesome feeling and awesome skills, very rare nowdays :D

  • my hero

  • i love the chapman stick. what a great application of the instrument

  • ha 2 cervelli, uno per la mano destra e uno per la sinistra... ;-)

  • amazing technique

  • beautiful ^_^

  • WOW, that is awesome in the true sense of the word. I wish i had a guitar like that so i could atempt that. It puts my accoustic version to shame man.

  • Uau, la mano destra non serve + a niente

  • whoa.. is this song in 5/8's?

  • No 5/4 :)

  • Wow... this is AWESOME! I love this song, and this just took it to another level! Man... good job!

  • Great job,Flint! It's good when we get the chance of watching quality stuff!I would be very happy if you could take a quick look over my improvisation on this piece,me on piano, and have your comment.Greetings from Portugal,Joao Galante.

  • That is *unbelievably* cool. Brubeck would approve.

  • The author of the piece is Paul Desmond, not Dave Brubeck ...

  • dude...deadly work. What kind of guitar is that? How is it strung? I am presently building one from an old bowling alley

  • it's a custom tapping guitar, basically each fretboard is standard 7-string tuning. sometimes i'll tune one neck to an open chord, usually just leave it standard BEADGbe

  • cheers mate..nice work..I'm in process of building a

  • oops...building a 6 string out of a bowling alley....it's kickin' take it easy

  • out of a bowling alley?

got a guitar workshop in the back room eh?

  • I have a full workshop. I work in theatre mainly. I recently did a gig where I ended up with 16 feet of bowling alley. I though it would be fun to recycle it into a solid body. It looks crazy cool. A fun little project. I'm thinking of making it a 7 string. I've never made one of those before. Can you tell me your opinion of 7 vs. 6 strings?

  • 7 string comes in mighty handy for tapping,

never really got into it for standard playing

  • do have the extra string in the low or high position? ever played both configs? which do you prefer?

  • i haven't yet tried playing with a high A, usually keep it tuned to low B

  • hey flintblade you not only play like a motherfucker...you seem to get out a lot too at night!!

  • thats cool. awesome!

  • Thoroughly enjoy this version... it's honest and clean. One of my absolute favorite pieces!

  • Nice to put your own style into this song, but then again, it seems out of place.

    4 stars nonetheless!

    great,clean job

  • What the fuck kind of name is Flint Blade?

  • Flint - (noun) - a. a massive hard dark quartz that produces a spark when struck by steel, or b. a material used for producing a spark

Blade - (noun) - a. the cutting part of an implement, or b. a dashing lively man

What sort of asshat is so lazy he can't bother using an online dictionary when confronted by something above his intellect? (Sheesh, like you should talk about names!)

  • Try Wikipedia-or get a better online dictionary. Flint was used to make the earliest tools... arrowheads, knives, spearpoints, etc. and btw, Flint is really his name. It's a family name.

  • that is thoroughly impressive

  • wow that has to be the most sick thing ever. god that must be hard?

  • i kinda don't like this version

    like

    the rhythm

just made it sound like shit

    like

    it just sounded miss placed

and in my opinion was too dark

like there was a fith being played CONSTANTLY

  • A fifth like 5/4? or a fifth like the 5th in a chord?

Cuz the original was in 5/4. He's actually playing it like it was originally.

  • Wow... Like, wow..!!

  • amazing!!! i love thi tune and you have done an incredible job!!! and for the record "adding 5 extra beats at th end of th b section" sounded great... thats what jazz is about

  • one of the best versions i have heard!

  • great,very great...try to cover some ronny jordan covers,just for phun :P

  • I thought the solo was great. You managed to make it into a piece of your own, as well as doing a great job on playing a classic.

  • Fucking amazing !

    Is it a warr guitar?

  • never saw a guitar like this O.o

  • I thought the solo was weak. And he bluffed the head coming back from the B section and added about 5 extra beats and it didn't really work. Should work on more bebop if your doing that because a pianist could do that but a hundred times better. Work on the dorian scale, its a nice easy place to start.

  • thanks for the advice!

  • yeah sure, lets see you play it like first , then give advice.

  • excellent.

  • it stops the mind ya zebbi

  • Un-fricken-beleviable! Great playing!

  • he is awsome

  • that's hot i want a double neck guitar so bad

  • he's good

  • Always wanted to hear this song on the stick, or some Chapman Stick type tapped stringed instrument. Sounds great.

  • great flint, compliments!

  • thats cool!!

    its like chapmanstick.

  • OMGGG... that was freakin awesome!

  • totally!

try tapping on your bass and when you feel comfortable with that think about how to translate it onto more strings for a tapping guitar.

  • haha! pwned. it's definitely 5/4. lol

  • except its 5/4

  • good job. always hard to improvise in 5/8
