Zombies in closets, the random corpses that could have re-animated at any time, the bloodied beds... this was by far the scariest level i've ever played in a video game. Even now, years later at 17 years old, i still get creeped out on this level.

Same here! I tracked down this video specifically as part of a search to find it. This same four note refrain has been used or referenced in loads of movies and trailers but I cannot pin down its origins. Annoyingly, none of the movies that used it MENTION the damn thing in the music credits - even End of Days which literally used it as its main theme! :P

I think it's something to due to the fact that in Timesplitters, anything goes. The Fear games try to be scary by being realistic but with TS you don't need a logical explaination for most of it, you just go with what works.

Some people are scared of zombies, some people are scared of ghosts, some people are scared of giant hook handed deer monsters that burst out of walls and run at you. Only Timesplitters has it ALL.
