@morigami92 Any time he had something new, something interesting, or some personal attention, he was quiet. Once he decides to start screaming in his cage, it is impossible to get him to shut up without taking him out of the cage... and then, he was pretty good and quiet.

@tthomaselli2 Yeah, he'd probably be still pretty attached if he had a companion. And maybe even a bit quieter.

Most of the reason he is so interesting and loves to do tricks is because we got him when he was very young (2.5 wks old!). It requires special equipment and lots of feeding.

@177gaga Really, the only way to have a conure that isn't "mean" to strangers as an adult is to expose them to lots and lots of strangers a they're growing up. Leo didn't really have a "teenage" phase that came and went. He was friendly with everyone, and then over time, he became more possessive and protective of his family.

I always recommend to everyone that gets a bird, get one as young as possible.

@billie9079 Sun Conures aren't big talkers. Stick with a few phrases and say them a lot - it helps if you're the kind of person that never stops talking. Leo really only ever said one word.

TALKING IN ALL CAPS TO YOUR BIRD PROBABLY WON'T WORK.

@billie9079 Repetition is key. One word or two words at a time and keep at it. I put my bird on my chest and she looks deep into my eyes and listens to everything I say (ok, she's an African Grey), and the next day or two, she's saying it! Good luck.

@billie9079 Make talking a routine if she is in a cage in a room every time you walk in say hello. She will eventually catch on and when you walk in the room she will say hello. this can also work when someone sneezes say bless you and she will too. A good one is learning what a word means like if you say dance then bounce your head up and down (Bird Dancing) and then she will too this works for many other things.
