Regardless, it's pretty representative that people in the small area where he was standing were willing to get angry at and attack him. It's highly improbable that it was only those few people around him who were willing, especially given the sort of opinions you see written all the time in letters to the editor and online.

You basically provide close ended media coverage of a select group of people, who don't speak for the entire population, doing something that would be considered despicable to the American people. The same thing was done during WW2. They used literature to spread propaganda instead of television. So yes the US used the images of flag burning among other things for support...
